@@TheBunduBallerina Thank you! I was delighted. So many years of balletomania and your channel has always been a constant, congratulations on keeping up the good work! 💪🏻
@@EmFdtr Ah, thanks so much! I love your 3 videos, too! It is fascinating to see one of my favorites, Elisabeth Platel being coached by the great master Pierre Lacotte for Peasant PDD. Such a rare video. Thank you!
What an amazing family! The fact that Mathieu is still going strong is a tribute to his training and his incredible abilities. They were all quite wonderful, but my favorite clip was of Denys in "die Fledermaus". I'll have to see if there's a complete video of that . . . it's at the top of my list of favorite operettas.
Yes, they are indeed an amazing family! I also adore the video of Denys in "die Fledermaus"! So much brilliant acting and dancing combined. There are 3 clips up on YT from this performance. One of the links is in the description. It shows the complete dance from this part of "die Fledermaus".
These are the 3 video excerpts I found from the ballet "The Bat" or "die Fledermaus" with Denys Ganio: th-cam.com/video/FJ9zcefUSHI/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/sPEAzPf2z3Q/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/uJBppoB94C0/w-d-xo.html
This reminds me of a long-standing debate about opera singers - singing actors versus acting singers, something Henry Pleasants wrote about in his book "The Great Singers". His preference was for the former, singers whose acting was on a par with their singing, as opposed to fine singers who were wooden on stage . As ballet is pantomime with music, acting ability is cheek-by-jowl with dancing ability in importance. One could argue the question, but after watching this video, I'd call the Ganio family dancing actors - four people whose acting is on a par with their amazing dancing.
I absolutely agree! All of the Ganio family of dancers are brilliant actors too. Just look at Mathieu's acting in this video not included in my compilation: th-cam.com/video/7n7blnyxWOk/w-d-xo.html At 1.22 in the aforementioned video clip link, you see tears streaming down Ganio's face as Albrecht. His father and mother were also such incredibly versatile actors that must have touched their audiences to the heart. Thanks a lot for your comments!
Thank you, that was just incredibly beautiful, tender, and so gorgeous! The French technique and the POB reminds me of the Royal Danish (Bournonville) technique I was trained in. It's so beautiful and so clean (especially in the petit allegro) as demonstrated by the gorgeous Dominique and her entire family. Trés Manifique!
@@nataliamoroz2744 Thank you for all your wonderful participation in my videos and comments, Natalia! @fleurdelis335 was actually referring to the Royal Danish ballet style of Denmark, not the Royal Ballet of England. You are right that these companies have distinctly different styles to the great Russian school of ballet. Best of health to you and thank you!
8:39 This lift is absolutely incredible! Also, Farukh Ruzimatov once said that the Khalfouni-Ganio chemistry on stage is the best he knows and is a textbook.
It's an exquisite, special compilation video ❤❤❤; and I quite admire the entire Ganio family of magnificent dancers ❤❤❤❤❤! And I love the Harlequinade sequence at the end of the video, of course. Little Harlequin (Mathieu Ganio) goes into 5th position, does the pirouettes, deftly executes grand jetés, and close ❤❤❤! Thank you @TheBunduBallerina for sharing ❤😊.
Still on the topic of Harlequinade, with Mia Pavlova's video link, . . it's nice to hear 'Riccardo Drigo's Serenade' music. Dominique Khalfouni is a beautiful étoile and Denys is also a great étoile ❤❤❤. And Mathieu takes after his parents' dance skillfullness ❤❤❤.
Thank you so much! ☺️ Yes, they are indeed an extraordinary family of stars! I agree - little Mathieu shows great talent in his moves for such a young child. He, like his parents, became an incredible Etoile and his sister is gifted too. Thanks again for your comments! ❤️❤️❤️
Yes, the other extraordinary star dancer in the Ganio family is 'Marine Ganio' ❤️ ❤️❤️❤❤️. Anyway, I watched this video several times more last night, and each time, I smiled broadly at the Little Harlequin's impressive tumble movement ❤❤❤❤❤! Such a gorgeous 'dancing family' indeed ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. Thanks @ B B ❤😊.
@@candidacarino669 Yes, isn't Mathieu as the Little Harlequin too adorable for words! I agree, his sister is indeed another star even if she is not Etoile. Thank you @candidacarino669 😍❤❤❤.
As always, thank you for the beautiful video 'The French Family of Ballet Stars (Dominique & Denys & Mathieu & Marine). Thank you for this lovely mix of the Ganio family, with rare excerpts of Matthieu's parents dancing Roland Petit's ballets. 1st time I see them. That was precious. Too bad Mathieu is retiring soon. I love him. ❤
