thank you so much for this video! I've had a tight shoulder (maybe TOS) for months. the first three stretches cured me in one day. I'm also a regular rock climber so probably suffer from tight forearms and arms as well.
I've never commented on a TH-cam video, but this was worth the praise!
    thank you!

Wow. I have been visiting a chiropractor for a whole month now for what I thought was a pinched nerve or something with my spine. These three exercises have alleviated the discomfort I've been living with for the past month. I will try to keep better posture and I'll definitely do that fourth exercise when I'm home from work later tonight. THANK YOU.

Thank you very much for producing this video. I have referred to it many times over years for different shoulder/ arm ailments. The clarity and unpretentiousness of instruction is great. Sometimes I feel information for my condition from my dr. is being withheld, or under diagnosed, but I remember this video and it helps every time. You are providing great benefit. And I've told others also of this video. (I race motorcycles) Thank you

Huge shout out here, thank you so much. I play quite a bit of sport and do a lot of weight training and have had this problem for years and would like to say since starting this, my grip strength has improved as well shoulder mobility. my gelnhumeral joint now sits a lot more flush and my rotator cuff muscles are strengthening. I found that also stretching my pectoral minor along with these exercises has worked wonders

I forgot about this video.. After another hard fall, I had 3 months of unpredictable shooting arm pain and numbness etc., and these exercises are instantly effective. I felt I had atrophy and contraction in my left arm, neck scalene, and this stretching hurt so good. Can tell this is the path to normalcy and recovery, as it was before. The pain relief is most notable . Sometimes I have to wonder if doctors and chiro's know, (they'd have to right? TOS) but just need you coming back instead and more visits, testing, scans, meds, on and on. Most effective solution yet. Thanks once again.

Hello, I just wanted to thank you for the priceless information! I have been having pain especially in my right upper arm for 2-3 months. It was also building in my left arm. The pain was almost to the point of unbearable. I did the exercises exactly as you demonstrated and the pain diminished to less than half! I did them again the next day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon and the pain is almost completely gone! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Hi, I wanted to thank you too! I had horrible TOS for several years, that kept getting worse. I awakened many times each night, with numb and painful arms and hands, and it even occurred while driving. Well lo and behold after two weeks of doing these exercises, and also sleeping on my side with my top arm over a large pillow (which another PT recommended) it went COMPLETELY away!!! It's literally been three years now, and it hasn't even happened once since then! I don't even think about it anymore, which seems unbelievable, considering how it used to take over my life. Thank you!!!

Yes,I 've been side sleeper whole my life. I used to sleep with my right wrist bent as well.
I visited the best PT in my city about a month ago and I've been doing neck exercises twice a day since then. The strange thing is that I included your exercises three days ago and I feel WAY better since then. I actually got 8 hours of sleep last night for the first time in last 90 days. I have an appointment with her the next week so I'll make sure to mention your exercises. Thanks for suggestions!

I can't fully do them, but one attempt of each exercise stopped the stabbing pain in my fingers! I will keep working on it, but these are great additions to ease the extreme pain! I have been to a Dr and have had some physical therapy. I moved and was unable to maintain the exercises I was given. I plan to post some around the house because I can do some while I wait for the microwave, listen to my family's stories, and even on the ceramic throne!

I've been experiencing left shoulder blade pain for weeks with some sensitivity to light touching in my thumb and index fingers (tingles when lightly scraped or touched). I also have had some underarm pain. I have had a chiro working on me, but it isn't doing too much. With these medial and radial nerve stretches, I can feel an exaggeration of the tingling in my had and it's extremely tight up through my shoulder. It felt good! I'm going to give these a go.

Hi Dr. Chad, I am from the Philippines. I am a subscriber and a regular viewer of your videos. I have a problem with a pain above the middle part of my right clavicle. I believe I got it while overdoing a pull-over exercise. I have tried all your shoulder treatments, but I know that they are not the answer, for my pain is NOT on my shoulder muscles, but, like I said, they are above the middle part of the clavicle area, like beneath that area. How do I treat it, as I need to continue my strength training exercises, to get back in shape?
You are doing a super great service to all your viewers. More power to you. God bless us all.

Just what I like- simple but useful tips I can use. I have been diagnosed with CTS and they of course want to cut me open even though I tell them over and over again that I get real results just from upper body exercises and stretching. But I don't know all the stretches, so again, this helps. And even if I do have classic CTS, the tendons and muscles in my neck get so tight I can hardly turn my head at times, so surely that is playing as well. Anyway, thanks!!

I started your exercises today and they are painful, but I'm hoping with time it will help. The most painful exercise is the FIRST one with the finger tips reverse circle up to the eye and face. But the others hurt a little as well. This disorder drove my depression into the deepest darkness ever. For years I abused alcohol to cope with the daily pain until I finally stopped two months ago due to ulcer. Then to cope I began abusing strong pain killers for 2 years, finally clean from them (hardest thing I ever did in my life), the pain I masked for 2 years is back. I am so happy I finally have an answer and hope your exercises help me.

Maybe 10 years ago, when I could still do pull-ups =) I pulled a muscle in my back and did PT for a few months (foam roller, back against wall and arms sliding up wall, etc.). It helped, but I've always had a weak left side, and my left trap always gets very tight and sore very quickly. I'll post more if I think of any other background, but this is already a novel. Thank you for reading it and any advice you can give! I really appreciate it. =)

Unbelievable! I've been in pain for 2 years after a very bad fall on a horse that caused multiple broken ribs hurt shoulder and hip. My job requires me to lift boxes up over my head a few days a week. I figured my pain burning and numbing from my shoulder to my finger tips had something to do with either the fall or lifting at work. I noticed when it triggers I've lifted that day, Also when I leaf blow or weed whack from squeezing the triggers. I'm in horrible pain all that night. The burning pain sometimes last for 2 hours. I get up and pace my living room. Shaking my arm. The pain gets so unbearable. I've searched and search for pain relief. I saw your video and did your exercises. Within 20 mins 50% of my pain was gone. I did them all again a second time. And a hour later. It went 100% away. I'm careful now how I sleep not to bend my arm in at my chest or reach up under my pillow. I wish I found you sooner. Because after years of this pain, I've noticed my muscles in my arm and hand have dramatically weaked. And my finger tips have a slight constant tingle. I've been to the doctor many many times for this and Costrocondritis and they never helped but give useless advice. It's took my doctors 2 years for them just recently to finally acknowledge my Costrocondritis. But for this it's only been wrap a towel on your arm when you sleep. Thank you!!!! You cannot believe the pain and agony you saved me!!!

The pain has gotten worse each year and today it was really irritated. Pain from shoulder blade wraps around ribs to chest .I literally just tried the exercises and it relieved the pain after 2 sets . I still feel the bothersome knot but it did relieve the pain.

I think I may have TOS caused by 2 things. Excessive amount of web searching for months then I almost fell twice & some type of injury , sprain when someone who was supposed to be assisting me to get in a car pulled away from me when I reached out for their arm . I had to quickly grab onto the car door to keep from falling. I was having tremors in my legs and torso. Both of my arms were raised some , grabbing onto the top of the door to steady in myself as my body was shaking and going down. I managed to get in the car seat with assistance from some kind onlookers. My neck shoulders ,arms & hands especially the left hand which hand swelling & redness a few days, has given me severe pain.
My neck had a blood vessel pop up in the front lower left side . I researched to see what could cause it and saw a lot of references to Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. My Dr. whom I couldn't get an earlier appointment with because he was overbooked said he couldn't diagnose anything because it was 2 months ago.
I couldn't get to the Dr . until last week & it happened in December. The blood vessel is still there, but now smaller about the size of a penny. Had to plead with My Dr. to get him to give me a rushed half hearted exam. He couldn't feel it of course, moved my arms a little, said they weren't broken or bruised chastised me for not getting to him faster, (all booked up) & walked out . I'm hoping to get some relief from learning stretches.

I was facing same issues.. pain in those areas and also sometimes feel numbness in last two fingers, most of the Times i sleep in that exact position with that straight arm under head.
And as a software developer, i have to sit on desk for long hours.

My primary care doc has tentatively diagnosed TOS, but not a nerve pinch. It seems to be a vein pinch since I have very little finger numbness but I get a lot of pain and swelling in my hands due to sleeping on my side as you describe. Which of these exercises are best if I have a vein pinch? Do all of them?

Great video thanks a lot. I'm not sure what I have. But it's mainly in my left elbow. My ulnar nerve seems to have been pushed out or out of it's groove. I get clicking when I perform some ulnar flossing. But it doesn't hurt. I've had pins and needles sensitivity, but it gets better with RICE and these exercises you have shown.

I had the Scalenectomy first Rib resection in 2003 and I still have pain. The surgery was not successful. This was in Honolulu HI. There were a lot of complications. Never again will I go through this.

Hi, Chad, a few questions for you. First, background: pain and soreness starting in my left shoulder blade, then up my trapezius, into shoulder, weakness and soreness in arm, tingling and numbness in fingers. This happened a few months ago and went away after rest for a few weeks, but now it's back. I do have bad posture that I'm always trying to fix, and I also thought maybe tight pectoralis minor muscles. Someone suggested thoracic outlet syndrome, although I still need to see a doctor.

Thanks for this sir, i can feel a lil relieve from the numbness and pain. I have a question, would it be beneficial or harmful if i hold the positions for longer? Lets say, a minute, instead of 30 sec...

Hey, Thanks for the video! You mentioned sleeping on your side with your shoulder curled... what would be the best way to sleep to avoid this?
    Thanks!

Dr. Madden. Would it be ok to do these stretches twice a day? Or would this trigger or irritate the nerve too much? I've been dealing with some ulnar nerve entrapment over the past 2-3 years It got better after 7 weeks of physical therapy last year, but it came back 7 months later. And it was crazy, b/c I was doing a lot of training using my arm after I was discharged from PT. But it just came back out of the blue during the fall. Anyhow, I do these stretches once per day before going to bed. They feel so good every time I do them. Thanks so much for this video showing these stretches. They have made a great deal of difference for me.

Thank you for making these videos. They are so helpful! I'd like to know how to tell if its cervical spine issue or thoraic outlet syndrome? Since they are very similiar symtom wise, I'd like to know if there is anyway to know! I'd appreciate your response dr! Have a great day

It's most likely tos since people nowadays have tendency to slouch all the time. You have to build strong upper back so you have muscles to protect you from those symptoms.

I was recently diagnosed with venous TOS and recommended rib resection surgery. Honestly I don't feel very comfortable with this fix and I'd like to try physical therapy before I commit to surgery.
Do you recommend these exercises in my case? What other exercise should I do to relax muscles and take the pressure of the vein?

Exercise only, but she did "crack" a couple of discs during my first exam. I also went through a physical therapy involving ultra-sound, lasers and magnets. That seemed to help with the carpal tunnel syndrome.
