I've never been so stoked about a pedal that I'm not even going to buy
😂 same!
Damn right.😢
I agree. He deserves every bit of having his own shit.
lol everyone’s feeling
Phenomenal Mr. Buck what a talent. Well done to all involved! Sounds great! I love Thorpy Fx.
I need one of these - for the sole reason I grew up in "air cadets" and am military aircraft mad - the English Electric Lightning is my favorite aircraft ever lol. Its worth it for the graphic on the front alone.
I need one because my friends have been calling me Thorpe for 30 years.
Also Thoprenator...hahha
The gold Revstar is just awesome.
How many players move the guitar around as much as Chris - Awesome player !!
The very best, special guest. Love Chris Buck here in Canada.
I am so beyond hyped. I’ve watched as many videos as possible on this since the news officially dropped.
Chris Buck is literally my guitar idol and I’m gonna scrape together the bottle caps and get this if it kills me 😂
Fangirling aside, this sounds lush in all the contexts I’ve heard and while I no longer own any valve amps, I’m hoping I get that valve feel through my catalyst.
This is false advertising as there is no way I can play like Chris ha ha
Sounds fantastic, great work Thorpey and Buck! "For all your tube pedal needs"
I haven't wanted a pedal for the longest time. Until now, Chris is such an amazing player. Wish I could see him when he gets to the States. ☮️❤️🎸
Ordered this pedal yesterday...only found out it even existed until I got the heads up from Adrian...Thorpy pedals are fantastic pedals...
Yamaha should offer that gold top guitar. 👍
They do, sadly not nitro
@@cuckmasterflex9106Oh no. That means it won't look like it's been kept in a pond in 10 years.
I think the key here is in the pick ups. I have a Revstar almost like this but after Chris’ playing its the pickups that make the differences here
Another great video from my favourite TH-cam channel. I finally was able to call in to Andertons today. Great to be surrounded by guitar gear, and the staff are genuinely friendly and welcoming.
That pedal is dreamy af! Incredible engineering. Tremendous!
I watched a few demos before this one, and the pedal sounded bright and harsh in all of them. Now that I’ve watched this demo with Chris it makes sense. His clean tone is quite dark.
Chris Buck , most original guitarist for decades .
For sure. There are definitely not thousands of slow blues players who cream as they play.
it's just mateo licks.
A great player raised on Derek Trucks licks
Chris Buck is the king of little witty and mildly self-deprecating comments subtly thrown into his conversations lol. His speaking almost has as much dynamic as his playing hahaha. Love listening to both!
Love the fact the pedal has an English Electric Lightning on it.
My fave geartainment channel.
You got one of the world's best guitarists right there.
Best thing about playing multiple strats, you can find out what specs you like and don’t like, and then put it together yourself fairly easy.
Chris does another great job in product endorsement and plays like a demon. So again Yamaha, where is the CB signature Revstar?
Sounds great, never purchased a Thorpy but that might change 👌
He's a great talker!
Serious player!
Half bends are the new bends 😝
Great work again by Adrian and the team at Thorpy but are we surprised. He's been consistently producing great pedals for years 🔥
I could literally sit and listen to Chris play all day!!!!! The best guitar talent to come along in a long long time.
Fantastic player, great pedal. Definitely at the high end of the scale on price, but it sounds incredible.
Yeah, but then Chris would probably sound great if he plugged into a potato.
@@user-dh5bn2fe4b absolutely 👍🏼 his squier videos demonstrate that it doesn’t seem to matter what he’s playing, he’s great with all.
@@user-dh5bn2fe4b nah he needs his 15k black submariner to get a reel deal kinda tone only John Mayor fans can get behind and peg
@@user-by6eb6zo7gI'm sure you thought that made sense in your head... but I could be wrong about that. 😂
This is the post I've been waiting for... Just need TPS to do one now
Chris buck is an phenomenal player but that price 👁️👄👁️
Seems in keeping with what people seem to charge for other boutique/high end valve ODs (similar to kingsley? I guess)
Though I am curious as to how the cost breaks down for pedal like this vs a solid state od.. parts, labour etc..
Also I guess not everything can be affordable for everyone
@@MrAwesomeSaucesome No, affordable is affordable. When referencing that term it is implying that the layman can afford it, not some well off gent with money to blow while he can't muster a bar chord but can warrant spending 500 smackers on a drive pedal.
@@user-by6eb6zo7g you sound like you have a bit of baggage so i might leave that one.
@@MrAwesomeSaucesomeYou sound like you often use flimsy excuses to run away from arguments you can't win.
@@markseymour8365 I'm sorry I've no idea who you are :(
Love it! I always love a good tube pedal on a tube amp since the Electro-Harmonix English Muff'n. Hey you guys touched on compression briefly. A major sleeper pedal that really needs a good demo is the Donner LAX COMP. It's a pedal based on the Universal Audio 1176LN Limiting Amplifier. There is even an encrypted "1176" in the simple artwork. Donner had first class engineers on this one. Donner LAX COMP is designed around the LM3080 OTA ( Operational Transconductance Amplifier , see an excellent article on the CA3080 OTA in Internet Archives- Radio Electronics magazine May 1988 pages 63-68. Also in the circuit are 3 transistors and approx 50 surface mount resistors and capacitors. Using the pedal is almost a set it and forget it, but it's always 'on' at or near the beginning of my non-looped chained making everything after it sound better. 🙂
Impressive.
This is an unfair demo. Chris Buck can make literally any pedal/amp/guitar sound good
I do hope one day I'm good enough to justify owning a pedal this expensive - it does sound great in his hands for sure
Well deserved fella :)
Would this pedals drive work OK through a solid state? Got a Marshall mg50fx for playing at home and would love this pedal - if it works well with that kind of amp! Love Chris's playing so much :)
Over £400 for a double overdrive , Chris can indeed play , good luck to him and his career, a bit juicy for most pub club non pro players .... there are other cheaper valve pedals out there , try the Orange Floor Stomp , its amazing
Gold top revstar? My word.
That MK Clean though!
The Basement!!! Literally 4 blocks away!!
I just received mine today. Is it normal for the pedal to feel warm even if it’s only plugged in and not engaged?
Great new product..love all the new gear but…is it me thinking of that or is actually the prices of new gear starting to be out of this world…yesterday the 724€ strymon big sky and now the over 400€ drive pedal with a tube in it..actually is pricier than the victory preamps 😮
Chris is one of the only players who i am fixated with their right hand rather than the left...
Does the rev star have a bevel like that normally?
Chris Buck is awesome, but $700 for this pedal in Australia, really?
Geezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
No overdrive is worth even half that. Make your own once they rip it off and sell a PCB for a clone.
Quite surprised by the price tbh! For a tube driven overdrive I was expecting it be in the same region as the Kingsley pedals 👍🏻
How is the 12AX7 getting voltage from a 12V power supply ?
It's 24 volts it comes with its own power supply
I did post about a few things negatively on the TH-cam channel but forgot to say we'll done Chris on an excellent collaboration with Thorpy a builder I do admire but can never afford sadly and maybe now the snouse blackbox may be off the list of too pricey because its used by a legend
Nice - sometimes find Chris' tone a bit dark/muddy for me, but this has a much nicer top and clarity to it. Sweet.
Nice
I have Kingsley Minstrel. which has the same valve in it.
A cup of tea and a new pedal.... What more do you need?
delighted to see the 3 button space echo on that board - would love to see the lower level too.
Go watch his episode on that pedal show. They made the pedalboard for him. Been a few.
@@forester057 thanks man
Just watched the old Christmas spicy brussel sprout episode. You guys should do the "one chip challenge" and then improv jam for 3-4 minutes.
I know he's not a strat guy but would love to hear
Really wish there can be a stop in Chicago…
Dude has no following.
Few links out of that watch and it will be perfect
Don't tell Christopher that. You'll upset him. I know
@@ToneMcBone-ny1duHe's not wrong though.
@@markseymour8365 I know. I once remarked in his videos about his submariner being 3 links too many and how he only wears it to show off. A watch that loose would slip right off the wrist when not playing guitar. His response to wearing a 16k watch poorly was to go on a tirade in response and claim to "know his watches". Goofy
It sounds good. I've modified a few ODs with a tube gain stage. However i did it more out of a sense of irony than because i wanted to use it. It just seemed ridiculous to have a tube screamer with a tube stage, like dropping a 460 into a late 90s Ford Escort. This sounds much better than those did. Granted they were Tube Screamers, i think if i had used an OD with a more neutral EQ curve it would have been more useful.
Agreed on the p90s
How confusing do you want the knob positioned? Yes
See you in Omaha!
The only gold top inspired revstar I can find has a hideous looking trapeze tail piece rather than Chris’s chill one… WhY Yamaha !? Also cool pedal and video guys :)
I am confused about this pedal! Does it sound good? Yes! but does having a Valve in it justify the extra price over "The Dane"?
That thing pulls teeth out with ice pick pressure!! I feel bad for an audience in front of that pain causing tone 😮. Thought the tube would warm it up. But not the case.
Uhhhhh don't know about that, but whatevs.
@@HALWASRIGHTdid you not see how far the treble was rolled of on the pedal and it still had plenty of highs. It's the definition of ice picky. Not saying its worse than if it was rounder or smoother, if you like it that's great. But the treble is absolutely ear bleeding. If you can argue with that then carry on.
If I considered myself "beige" and played this well, I'd be a very happy man indeed.
The price of that thing!
He deserves a lot, but the price and the 12V issue is a no for me
Love Chris’s playing and tones and this pedal sounds great, but……$499 US?? That’s gone too far. How is it different than the Dane which I have and love?
I might have considered this if Anderons did Klarna/Paypal payents
Funny how, like a lot of folks here, this is beyond my budget. Yet, if they develop a pedal that makes me actually sound like Chris Buck playing, I'd sell my non-essential organs on the black market to get it.
Oh wow a dual drive pedal, so unique!
But it’s got a tube/valve init.
Loki is a great guitar player.
Cant wait for the cheap copies!
Cool pedal. However the name makes me chuckle, "Electric Lightning" is like like saying "Wet Water" lol.
ahahah its the name of a fast Jet.
Why is this pedal so expensive
@@user-by6eb6zo7gwe don’t use cheap far east labour. @@user-by6eb6zo7g
That full cup of coffee sitting right above his pedalboard was giving me so much anxiety.
Who?
Love Chris And Andertons, But..... 500 beans for this is a Lot of Beans...
God damn, the price of the pedal...
You can see why he's wearing a rolex 🤣😅
Who ever said Chris plays the same thing over and over only wishs they could play 1/10 of what he can do and they have no soul and have absolutely atrocious taste. I'm a predominantly Death Metal listener and player and know greatness when I see it. I've been follow Chris for a long time now and his playing is soooo expressive.
Buying a new pedal isn't going to make me sound like Chris Buck, unfortunately? I wish it could!
$447 in US Dollars? Wow that’s a lot of money
It's being sold by u.s distributors at 500 actually
@@FrankSmith-fz6xy- that’s even worse lol. Thank you.
Chris Bucketlist
Don't like the 12v issue. But it does sound good. Can hear some thorpy gunshot in there. Sounds like it will cut through a band mix.
According to Thorpy it will work on 500ma with 12 v if you have that option. Pedal designed to work on 700ma. Power supply included but still a pain if you don't have the 12v 500ma option.
I hope Chris does the rig for £1000... I'd still sound shit but we'd at least have hope 😅
Anything thing thorpy does is magic still chasing after a dane 😂.
I have the v2 it's awesome I'm thinking about picking this one up
Hello Klarna….😂😂
More people use Grolsch 😂👍
that dude can play a little
£430 ouch!
All things come in price brackets. Guitar gear is no exception (squier vs. custom shop fender, PRS SE vs. private stock, dumbles and two rock amps and so on). This looks a high end intensely researched model so will cost big versus a cheap drive and boost pedal. Having seen Chris play live, i can attest his tone is sublime in the room.
More onanistic twiddling from the perennial journeyman.
Pretty talented, successful journeyman 🤷🏻♂
@@lindseysimmons42dude. No one knows him outside of a niche small youtube community. Take my hand and we can touch grass
@lindseysimmons42 you don't understand what a journeyman is?
It’s getting silly
AFOD.
Egg
Love Chris, but $630 dollars Canadian is out of the question for most people . How about something we all can afford.
I imagine the initial phone call between Thorpe and Chris: "Hey Chris, do you wanna build an overdrive with a valve in it?" - "Yeah, when?"
Isn't all lighting electric, it's like wet water
This is like the 3rd or 4th video in a row from Anderton's that I know from the title I don't need to even bother watching- anything from Thorpy is grossly overpriced- just like anything from Strymon or Gibson.
Chris should get a power conditioner.
Electric lightning? Hmm... Is there any other kind?
Great player and pedal, though.
I'm still waiting for JHS to resurrect their talent boost pedal
