I'm glad Hyundai has finally started to progress over the last decade. This car is proof that they have been working hard to design a car that is well engineered and best of all with a turbo and in stick shift. I hope they carry over this design to their future vehicle designs. I use to not be a fan of Hyundai, but now I kinda like them.
I've had my veloster for almost a year now and i love everything about it except the horn lol. I did some mods to it already too and it made me fall in love with it even more. I never regret buying mine !
My parents had a 2013 Veloster Turbo and they absolutely loved it, but needed more room so they traded it for a 2014 Santa Fe Limited, they love it too.
best veloster video i’ve seen so far. had to watch this because i’m going to check out this exact same car tomorrow. thank you so much! very informative.
I have this exact model. It is very fun to drive! It has a B&D racing, short throw shifter with excellent feel/engagement. It has light weight Rays wheels reducing unsprung wt. The suspension bits have been upgraded to increase handling sharpness. The matte blue is unique and gets compliments from strangers. This car is not a rocket, maybe 0-60 is about 6.9 seconds but for $23,950 it is a very sharp handling, fun, unique car. It even got me thru the 2016 snowstorms in the north east, I didnt have to go buy snow tires! I am averaging about 31 mpg in mixed driving and it has the longest warranty available. 5 year 60,000 miles bumper to bumper! So far it has been perfectly reliable, no issues. Yes, the GTi is quicker (but much more expensive, looks boring and how about that reliability VW?)
Hey Kyle, I met you at the Charlotte auto show this year. I was the excitable guy from Ford you spoke with about testing out the Focus RS. Thanks for this vid. I've been very curious about the Veloster. Also, kudos on getting your own Saabkyle logo license plates! Again, your reviews are the best out there, man. We'll get you in that RS before too long. Keep up the great work Kyle. Best Peter
I have had this car for about 7 months now and really like it. Sure there are other cars out there for the price that are better but this has character imo. I got this a lot cheaper than sticker. Sticker for me was around 25k and i got it for 18k. As usual, nice detailed review Saabkyle04
I got the Turbo (I like my creature comforts) instead of the Rally or R-spec and got it for around the same. A second hand Fiesta or Focus was a couple of grand more, and they sure can't compete on warrantee - nice to not have to worry about a damn thing going wrong for soooo long. :-)
Ck thirsty Just changing the back box would be nice...get a little more of that sound out of it. But you may want to check - I'm not sure that changing the back box would invalidate the warrantee...although for sure they won't be covering that particular part. I suggest you look very carefully into the wording of the warrantee, and maybe talking to the service advisor...maybe even contacting the factory. I wouldn't expect them to cover the new back box, but they should still cover those parts that are original. Of course, if you wanted to change the entire system, that may be a different thing, since that can affect the rest of the engine.
I know this video was posted a long time ago but I’m going to test drive a 2017 model. Have you had bigger people sitting in this car? I’m worried the sides of the seats aren’t wide enough for my back. I’m about 6 foot 320 pounds for example.
Look close at 7:37 you can see the uneven rotor wear. Looks like 3 different segments of the pad make contact and it looks really disappointing. Maybe they are designed for this but I would get it looked at. Possibly rocks stuck in between the pad and rotor?
Absolutely. I don't have wear marks like that on mine, so I'd assume that something is amiss - either debris getting where it shouldn't, or possibly smething going wrong with the pads. It almost looks like the pads are worn through and there's a rivet or locating pin or something on the pad's backing plate that is grinding on the disc.
The Kumho Solus tires are absolute crap. I put G-Max directionals on my wife's car, and it was so much better. The Kumho tires were noisy, over sensitive, had terrible wear, and had no snow traction.
+Brian Merz I hate Kumho tires. My dad had them on his E39, they lasted maybe a year. I have them on my Volvo now, but I'm not expecting them to last long. I'll be saving for some Continentals to throw on a nicer set of wheels.
When showing how it sounds, it would be nice to hear it from the outside while its moving - say, as it drives past in 2nd or 3rd. Revving the engine in neutral doesn't really give a good idea of the exhaust sound when the engine is under load. Otherwise, a very good indepth review. Thanks!
it is important to note that the matte finish requires special chemicals to keep the paint protected properly and looking good. These products are up to 10x more costly than regular car wash products. There is a sealant step as well that is not required of normal mirror finish cars. I love my Veloster Rally though!
I like this car but here are a few tweaks that would make it a real competitor in the hatchback market: Sport suspension Add more power by eliminating the fuel economy restrictions. A more aggressive rear diffuser, and front splitter. Also this has nothing to do with the performance, but they really need to make up their mind about that extra door on one side. If it was just two doors then it would provide a much sportier look.
Hey can you try and do a tour of an 89-91 Chevy K5 Blazer? I know you did a vid on the '85 but I would really like to see an in depth tour of a 1989-1991 K5 Blazer. They're my favorite vehicles. Thanks.
Hey saab i love your video's mate one thing you should do some review's of some cars that we dont see at the US like the renault and peugeot seat skoda etc anyway best of luck and keep it up
I liked your old Genesis Coupe more than this but I can see why this is more of a hit with the female crowd.... Looking forward to the GMC Envoy video and as always good video brother!
pleaseeeeeeeeeee out of human kindness can you please review the 2016 hyundai veloster turbo??!!!!! orange interior?!!! It's my dream car and I'm getting it next year but there aren't many reviews on youtube, not good ones at least:(
If they had a better rear suspension Id love the thing. Unfortunately it likes to get unsettled when pushing it through the corners. Turns in nicely, but the rear end hops around like Peter cottontail.
R-spec and Rally went back to the key because they're more stripped-out versions. They also don't get the sunroof, turn signals in the mirrors, heated seats, etc.
I daily drive a veloster and like others say the stock tires are literally like a pile of shit. No snow traction. They preform poorly on heavy rain and are bumpy. Change them out and it makes a world of difference.
+Kevin Woodard Ahh man, yeah I completely forgot to include that clip. The specs are as follows: Length: 167.3” Width: 71.1” Height: 55.1” Wheelbase: 104.3” Curb Weight: 2,877-2,932 lbs
I feel like this car has the potential to be an iconic sports car if it was made a bit longer with real sports car equipment like maybe a v6 twin turbo better suspension I like the way it looks but if it was a bit longer it'd be so cool
As a Veloster owner myself I can tell you it takes the corners extremely well for it's class.
The 2014 veloster is not safe and iihs tested it

+Cars by Cody oh, yes they are doing great these days, really excited for new genesis coupe with that N sub brand on it

+Rupert Cornholio Thank you so much!
My parents had a 2013 Veloster Turbo and they absolutely loved it, but needed more room so they traded it for a 2014 Santa Fe Limited, they love it too.

i love this matte look
+Candyfloss Random Fact Guy Here: Did you know the 57 on Heinz ketchup bottles represents the number of varieties of pickles the company once had?
+burgerman OK then
I swear I've been binge watching SaabKyle04 videos for about a week now
I just bought a 2016 rally today. Love this car. Traded in my 06 cobalt SS
Do you still like that car?

Brother what transmission fluid should i use
@@ahmed_m.yaseen726 Salam brother..I honestly do not know...Hyundai dealer would be able to tell you better.
I have asked them and they had no idea
I always found the Veloster to be a cool hatchback. But seeing one in a matte color is just awesome! Thx for uploading.

Only wish i could put an exhaust on it and not fuck up the warranty :(

finally this was what I was waiting for :D
I love my Veloster.
Nice video Kyle! Keep up the great work
It might not be as fast at the competitors but I love the style, paint job, and just the over all lay out of the Veloster. Great VID Kyle!
Love the paint
Kia/Hyundai have been stepping up their game consistently!
I'm getting the same car tomorrow and this video really helped alot. thanks!
I know this video was posted a long time ago but I’m going to test drive a 2017 model. Have you had bigger people sitting in this car? I’m worried the sides of the seats aren’t wide enough for my back. I’m about 6 foot 320 pounds for example.
this is quite an interesting car and the matte blue is lovely
love that matte paint
Start 1:36
Exhaust (Cold Start) 1:42
Exhaust (Warm Start) 1:52
Engine 1:59
I’m between the Genesis and the Veloster. Witch one would y’all recommend?
New rubber, exhaust and SRI are the first things to be done and actually make you feel a difference

This is a really likeable car.
I Was Waiting for this review So Long
✌ Awesome Kyle
The Kumho Solus tires are absolute crap. I put G-Max directionals on my wife's car, and it was so much better. The Kumho tires were noisy, over sensitive, had terrible wear, and had no snow traction.
Agreed
+Brian Merz Yup, had them on my grand am. Replaced with pilot sport as3's, much better.
+Brian Merz I hate Kumho tires. My dad had them on his E39, they lasted maybe a year. I have them on my Volvo now, but I'm not expecting them to last long. I'll be saving for some Continentals to throw on a nicer set of wheels.

Nice vid Saab 👍

+HangOver Mac Thanks! :)
+Saabkyle04 Love your videos Kyle!
Your such a good car reviewer thx for the videos and keep up the good work
Good job! Great reviews!
the color is so dope, just like wrapped
I'm thinking of getting a 2013-14 one
I love the non-copyright elevator music :D

Good job Kyle I think that this will be very loved one question what camera did you use
I love how they call this "rally edition" when the accent is the real rally rat.
This was uploaded on my birthday does that mean its meant to be?
no
The one of the only 2 Hyundais I actually enjoy. Along with the new genesis
nice vid buddy.
yo! kyle didn't lock and unlock the vehicle while showing the key after "without further ado, let's start it up, let it run"
hyundai and rally were the last two things i expected to see in a sentence/word together
But they have a rally team...the i20 wrc
Asterisk Dude As you can clearly see, I have not been following rally nor hyundai for however long these cars have been out ha.
It will be out soon
That's one sexy Hyundai and I'm not a big fan of them lol
+Adam Glover
A Hyundai can not be sexy! Never!
just look at the hyundai genesis mate
It loos sexy and that's the only good thing about this car...
Great indepth review. Does it have LED tail lights?
I saw these yesterday and thought the paint and wheels were custom. Looks really good IMO.
I drive one and I get asked if it's plasti dip sigh..
Hi from Greece!Nice car this veloster.

COOL 2016 Hyundai Veloster Rally Edition (Turbo 6-spd) - Start Up, Road Test & In Depth Review
I like this car !
I love the Matte Blue on the car
Hey can you try and do a tour of an 89-91 Chevy K5 Blazer? I know you did a vid on the '85 but I would really like to see an in depth tour of a 1989-1991 K5 Blazer. They're my favorite vehicles. Thanks.
What's the name of your blind spot mirror, and where did you buy it from? I'd like to get the same one for my veloster. Thanks!
Hey saab i love your video's mate one thing you should do some review's of some cars that we dont see at the US like the renault and peugeot seat skoda etc anyway best of luck and keep it up
Was this car test drove in lenoir nc?? just curious.. maybe hickoy nc?
why do the seats say "Turbo"? isnt it the "Rally" edition
my dream car
Almost sounds like velociraptor.
how on earth at 18psi is it only making 201 hp?
I liked your old Genesis Coupe more than this but I can see why this is more of a hit with the female crowd.... Looking forward to the GMC Envoy video and as always good video brother!
I have veloster rally edtion what transmission fluid should i use
Hey, Kyle... how does it compare to the Viper in acceleration? lol
pleaseeeeeeeeeee out of human kindness can you please review the 2016 hyundai veloster turbo??!!!!! orange interior?!!! It's my dream car and I'm getting it next year but there aren't many reviews on youtube, not good ones at least:(
Any plans to review the new Miata?
He needs to review that awesome car. Ofc, the RF ver.
That will probably be in 2 years.
+Potato I think you could get it right now.
+Vulcan108 I'm not saying you can't get it, I'm saying it will take Kyle a long time to review it
I like the paint color it's pretty
That startup sounds exactly like my 1.2l hyundai i20's kappa engine
If they had a better rear suspension Id love the thing. Unfortunately it likes to get unsettled when pushing it through the corners. Turns in nicely, but the rear end hops around like Peter cottontail.
Well I have a 2013 veloster turbo and for that small engine is really good
Why did they go back to the key? I have a 2013 veloster turbo and it has a push to start?
R-spec and Rally went back to the key because they're more stripped-out versions. They also don't get the sunroof, turn signals in the mirrors, heated seats, etc.
aussiebloke609
Kinda strange though. My roomate has a 2013 turbo. It has the push button, heated seats, turn signal lights, but no sunroof.
I daily drive a veloster and like others say the stock tires are literally like a pile of shit. No snow traction. They preform poorly on heavy rain and are bumpy. Change them out and it makes a world of difference.
Sometimes I fart in mason jars for fun.
+97I30T Thought I was the only one who does this.
Lmfao
My friend ron close does that to
Can you please do a video on the 2017 Hyundai Elantra limited!
Kyle, I think you forgot to reveal exterior dimensions, wheelbase, and curb weight.
+Kevin Woodard Ahh man, yeah I completely forgot to include that clip. The specs are as follows:
Length: 167.3”
Width: 71.1”
Height: 55.1”
Wheelbase: 104.3”
Curb Weight: 2,877-2,932 lbs
Can you do a review for the 2016 Scion/Toyota tc
Awesome car 👍🏻
Anyone know the song at 16:35?
Does this model come in automatic?
I feel like this car has the potential to be an iconic sports car if it was made a bit longer with real sports car equipment like maybe a v6 twin turbo better suspension I like the way it looks but if it was a bit longer it'd be so cool
No room for a twin turbo v6 in a small hatchback like this
+fukjabi then get a Genesis coupe then noob
+mynameischefTV a guy put a 2jz inline six with a rwd swap. There is room.
I thought you were wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat lol.
please kyle can you make a hyundai elantra 2016
Hi man, could you do the new BMW 340i with m-sport packet? Oh and later, when released, the new 2017 Porsche 911 GT3?
does young metro drive a geo metro???
Rally edition but fwd?
i think that hyundai knows that many car enthusiasts would not want the push button start so thats why they did that
Is this awd?
Kyle please review the Bmw 220i , Rwd (sport)
Hyundai Veloster Turbo or Scion tc?
Do I see a Stock Intercooler...?
I 💙💙💙 the matte blue, black interior with blue accents 😍👍
IDK how i feel about a 3 door car though 🤨😅
I hate the repair kits & NO sunroof?! 😵☹️👎🏼
