Latest steam beta build working on Windows 7 as of June 17, 2024

This is just a quick video on how the latest version of steam still works on vanilla windows 7 (no extended kernel) in mid 2024, despite the fact that it was supposed to "stop running" on 7/8.x at the beginning of this year. You can literally install it as you usually would on a Windows 10 or 11 system, and it will work completely fine. I am still archiving each version on archive.org, as it is only a matter of time before the latest version no longer works, but for the time being it is not necessary at all. I love how Valve put Steam will "stop running" on Windows 7, instead of putting something like, "Steam will stop supporting Windows 7".
To any of you who are going to tell me to switch to Windows 10 or 11: I will NEVER do it. I have no need to, and from the time I was on Windows 10 due to my Oculus Rift, I absolutely HATED it. Maybe someday I can switch to Linux, but its app support needs to get better first.

I am using windows 11 right now and i hate it, its the worst. That why I'm watching those videos and so glad steam still working

Quite ironic, considering Wine can run more software than Windows 7 itself.

Question, have you considered running Windows 8.1/Server 2012 R2?
It's basically Windows 7 performance-wise, with an updated kernel and a (literally) mutilated Aero (that is easily recoclverable). ESU updates until October 2026, which means it'll last longer than Windows 10 of all OSes. Considering you can tweak it with Glass8 and OpenShell (or similar) to match Windows 7's looks, I'd say it's worth checking out.
