Sweet truck! My son just got a ‘91 Ranger 2.3l. He wants to turbo it and play around with a build. What were you happy with and what would you do different if you could donut all again?
I have a ford v4 that i’m thinking of putting two smaller tubos on each side because its hard to merge the two exhaust sides without it beeing under the car:).
Speaking from experience, consider using a complete donor engine with turbo, fuel injection, & electronics from a Thunderbird Turbocoupe or Merkur XR4ti if want to turbocharge a Pinto, Mustang II, fox 4 cylinder Mustang, Ranger, etc. Will give factory drivability, far less hassles, and a forged piston engine built to handle boost.
I have 2 different setups. One setup is the 350 Holley on top of the Omc cobra boat stock cast iron intake. Then I also have a Weber 38/38 carb on top of a racer Walsh aluminum intake. I actually have been getting better results with the Weber carb. But I'm still in testing and tuning phase
HEY MAN IM PUTTING TOGETHER THE EXACT SAME BUILD. 1984 FORD RANGER. I BOUGHT AN EBAY TURBO KIT. IM CURIOUS HOW YOU PLUMBED YOUR WAIST GATE AND BLOW OFF VALVE. IM RUNNING THE HOLLEY 350CFM AS WELL. COULD I GIVE YOU MY NUMBER AND PICK YOUR BRAIN A BIT?
I'm just running an external 38mm Amazon wastegate on the eBay header flange. The bov is again, Amazon... On a 2.5" aluminum pipe with a bov flange. Nothing crazy. All Amazon bought
Mechanical genius.
Higher cylinderr pressure= less distance that the same voltage will produce an arc over.
Good build. Bill at OldMansGarage TH-cam channel is a blow thru guru for tuning and has some how to tech videos.
Sounds sweet

Jackhat joe. We both live in ohio help me boost my 66 mustang 3.3 ;)
What intake manifold and adapter adapter you running
It's the omc cobra boat intake. Very similar to what Racer Walsh sells.
What intake are you running on that to have the carb and the turbo?

Any updates on this setup? Hows it running?
