I'm sorry I meant to say a 1995 Jeep YJ four cylinder 2.5 l I don't know what the starter OEM number to compare it is to thank you very much I'm stuck without being able to start it we have the same Jeep and mine is spice color also inside
I would order either at RockAuto or from your local autoparts store like O'Reilly. I think I got this at O'Reilly, and they have a warranty if it goes bad after install. I am not sure of the part number (except what may be on that box)
Nice. My YJ didn’t start this morning before work. Did the tap method on the starter and it turned on. I’ve got a blown motor that has has a starter in it, that’s my first move before I go buy a new one. Hope it works!
Could be a sign of the starter going bad. How do you get it started when it won’t start? If you bang on the starter with a hammer and it starts, then that’s a sure sign the starter is going bad
@swatscorner after turning it off and on 5 times. It only started twice. My jeep is a 91 6 cylinder so I'm confident that it's my starter. Thank you for thr video.
You can test the starter as I showed here to see if that was the issue. I’m no expert, but CPS, NSS (on automatics), and ignition switch are all culprits.
@@swatscorner i tested as you showed on the video. When ignition is on I get no readings but I did tried to bridge the starter with a screw driver and it turned on. Now i’m not sure if it’s a wire issue or the starter
Excellent video! You showed how to do everything to properly diagnose that it was a bad starter. Thanks again! 😁
You're welcome! Glad it helped. I’ve learned so much on TH-cam. Trying to give some back!

Can you please list all the socket sizes you used?
Will try to go back and do that!
Bottom bolt 8 top bolt 13 the external torque bolts e12-14 and 7/16 for battery
92 YJ here, had same exact issue. Bought a new starter but still not cracking, what else do you think it would be?

Doesn’t sound like starter if it worked by jumping it. I’d have to think more about that. Ignition switch maybe?
