  • See what it's like daily driving our 1978 El Camino, and why we think this is one of the best daily driver vehicles in our fleet.
    Re-uploaded for fixing some sound issues in the original video.

    I’ve had pretty good luck hooking the straps to the frame of the cruck to hold things still inside the bed from time to time. You can reach the frame in front or behind the rear tires. if you feel underneath there is good places to hook the straps up. Seems like it’s a circle hole in the bottom of the frame and I think there’s four of them. It’s where the body mount bolts go through. Nice ride thanks for the video. It’s always good to see the car that hauls😎

    I have a 1970 El Camino with a 350 four barrel. Not the muscle machine of the day, but it has had a reasonable restoration and everything, including the factory air runs. It too is my daily driver and I really enjoy it.

      It looks good from a distance…. Has a few cracks up near the speakers. It’s not original; the original dash would have been tan and this one is red underneath that a previous owner painted black. But for a daily driver it’s pretty good.

    Nice. El Camino is an original sport truck / SUV. You are correct about that convenient low load height. Cast iron SBC one of best engines, just leave it stock; easy to get parts. Service that also famous THM350 and it will go the distance. Best part of these old Camino's is smooth coil spring ride versus stiff pickup trucks. Camino's came with adjustable air shocks to firm up ride with a load. Relatively heavy ( 4000 lbs) + v8 makes good tow vehicle.

    Nice video. I just inherited a 1979 El Camino and need to replace both side mirrors before I can drive it. Do you know how to access the housing to remove the side mirrors? It looks like I have to remove the inner door panel in order to remove the side mirrors. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks and I like your El Camino.

      Thanks for watching! Yes, you need to pull the door card to access the mirror fasteners.

    would you say a el camino would be a good first car?

    • @wrenchwranglers
      @wrenchwranglers  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I would say that depends somewhat….. if someone can do their own maintenance and take care of issues, and if they don’t mind spending time on it regularly…. then sure. I would probably say that about any older car though. One thing is for sure… if you want people talking to you about it everywhere you go then it’s definitely the right vehicle.
