    I have a stock Gen 5 427T. I've been trying to figure out which non-commercial harmonic balancer and which flexplate to use with a 4L80E. I'm not sure on the correct balance for these later Tall deck BBCs....

      @@jjjones8530 the 454 is the only one that is externally balanced. So pretty much any others will interchange as long as the block generation is the same (although many parts do interchange between generations also).

      In this particular one, it won’t go below 60 degrees. I checked the blend doors, heater shutoff, etc., with no success. Rather than throw more money at it tearing it down again, we opted to let it ride at its current point.

      I spent a long time double checking everything and even checking blend door function and all the little things. Short of tearing it down again and checking the actual thermostatic expansion valve adjustment I ran out of things to check. Everything I found was operating normally. It still will not go below 60 degrees, but we opted to settle for that rather than throwing more money at it. If we ever discover something verifiably wrong with it I will post an update.

    I like to change the pid on maf sensor to grams per sec its a little easier for me to look at. plus at idle around 800rpm on most vehicles it will equal the size of the engine ex. that you have is a 2.4liter it will be 2.4 grams per sec idling if its reading right. a easy way to check to see if cat is plugged is by unhooking egr back pressure valve and hooking a pressure gauge snap throttle should have no pressure.

    As the saying goes..." It takes courage to own a courage"..lol. I have two 20 HP engines that are done. First one had the bad casting and has a hole in the block just like the one you have, and the other caught on fire and burned up the engine. The oil fires are usually caused be the bolts coming loose under the flywheel and oil starts to get flung around and onto the muffler. I noticed the engine you are using has a lot of sludge on the top. Check all your block bolts under that flywheel just incase some have come loose. Great video and we'll see you in the next one.

    Okay. I've been working on small engines for over 30 years. Either no one is giving you good advice. Or you're not accepting it. When it comes to starters if it has a metal flywheel gear. The starter will always use a plastic gear. If it has a plastic gear on the flywheel. It will use a metal gear on the starter. That is the way all of them are made. Jumping cables are the fastest way to burn up a starter on anything including a car. They waste a lot of power. All you need is a good charge battery. An the older starter would have worked well. I hope you're not trying to mislead people. You do not sound like the kind of person that would do that. So I do wish you the best of luck. And truly hope you do not mind taking some friendly advice. From someone who knows. 💯.

    • @wrenchwranglers
      @wrenchwranglers 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I should have clarified that plastic starter gears are used with plastic ring gears or aluminum ring gears. Steel starter gears are only used with steel ring gears.

  • @mikespain8655
    @mikespain8655 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Take this guy and experience with a grain of salt. His work bench is his truck tailgate. The valves need to be adjusted every 250 hours on a Briggs and Stratton. They do not "always keep going out of adjustment." The starter back bolt can be accessed and removed and replaced, without "doing all kinds of things.".

      If I do not mow, the grass gets too high and it’s annoying to work in it. More insects hide there and we have fire ants that will get out of control. But mostly it will just grow too high create other maintenance issues. There are no fines here for not mowing, but if I do not it will soon swallow my cars and trailers. The type of grasses we have here will get very high.
