I think this is a really interesting question... will Pokemon still be popular 10 years from now? What about 20 years? Let me know what you think down below in the comments!
Ultimately, YES! I think Pokemon will still be wildly popular 10 and 20 years from now. It is one of the biggest intellectual properties ever, after all. So maybe a more important question is... what will the Pokemon Company be doing to stay relevant 10 years from now? Let's discuss!

*Nothing said in my videos actually represents financial advice - it is just my opinions and me sharing what I am doing regarding Pokemon Investing. Do your own research and make your own decisions*
I'm almost 49 years old, just got into pokemon at the end of S&S, into S&V, and I'm hook line and sinker!! Love the cards, love the art, pulled the moonbreon, the Tina, and the blaziken just recently and I'm now a full on degenerate, btw great vids, and what's this playlist?
2 thing I really agree with you on and 1 I disagree is. 1 A lot of us are parents and we are getting back into Pokémon with our kids and they are loving it too, so our kids will be growing up to chase the nostalgia feeling even if they get out of it and then get back in with their kids (our grand kids) 2. Is I personally see a lot of games being like the "Ready Player One" movie. Imagine you put on you VR goggles (or whatever they will be called in the future) and you literally have a Pokémon right by your side, you meet up with your friends and the Pokémon are battling what looks like right in front of you, in your environment. Even Imagine Yu-gi-oh being like that or any other games.
The thing I disagree would be the pull rates. Sucks for collectors, great for investors. I'm personally a collector more than an investor, not that I don't like to see my collection go up but if pull rates stay this hard, I'll just buy the singles I want and not open as many packs. Makes the pack opening experience not as exciting...
Yea, a "ready player one" pokemon style game would be absolutely incredible!
Long story short, but your right 👍
Paused the video in the beginning to answer before hearing yours. I think Pokemon Pocket is going to take off. I think a whole new generation is going to find pokemon this way. It'll get bigger and stay relevant in this format. The price of shiny cardboard will go down, but eventually nostalgia will kick in when cardboard isn't even produced anymore based on the success of the digital model. If you have cards in good shape, you'll be on a gold mine in 10 years
Big theory: with Pokémon go, they have been experimenting and walking the line of virtual reality.
I think possibly one day, they will actually come out with a real virtual reality game that would make you feel like you are actually a trainer in the actual Pokémon world.
That is only way you can 1up the craze of Pokémon go 2016 I think
Would be sick
I think Ancient/Future variants of Pokemon are going to be massive going forward. They have 7 more regions they can make Legends games for, and I think the Ancient/Future motif gives them some classic Pokemon they can draw on for inspiration - they will still be able to hit the nostalgia note whilst also delivering a new Pokemon for newer adopters of the games/tcg.
Considering it’s the biggest IP in the world, and the amount of people who are playing/ripping/investing at the moment I can’t see it slowing to a hault anytime soon.
However, if things were to start going south I think Whales in the investing side of things like Rudy would be fire selling stock - which to me would be an indicator to get off the bandwagon.
Great video as always Colin, much love from down under!
PS - you should hit up PokeOz to do a collab on the investing side of things, wish he could have made the JLuv discussion 👌
Collectibles and the "pokemon" will always be a reminder for everyone and specially for our kids that they will become...us eventually ❤ Is to big to be forgotten
I’d love to chat about the volatility of Pokémon. The catalysts of COVID, Logan Paul, etc all around the same time could happen in 10 years time but in different ways (booming economy, transition to digital packs, etc) but there will always be something about getting to have nostalgic experiences that are incredibly valuable to us as a society. Personally I see a slow dip over the next 5-7 years until the next big boom unlike even the boom we had before. We’ll see but the arguments are so interesting to hear
Keep up the great content man! Been loving see you post as much as you have been!
Excellent video bro, I think it is a good question for the future, it all depends on which path the company follows and how good the future expansions are. If they do it right this can last much longer. Keep it up bro, I'll be watching your next videos. PS: this time I caught several codes, they looked very good, thanks for that as always. Greetings bro.
From an investing standpoint, there is a difference between when we were kids and now for modern cards that some people don’t take into account: breaks and repacks. Those weren’t a huge thing even pre-pandemic like they are now, and as long as repackers and breakers are around - as well as TH-camrs looking for content and views - there will be a driving force behind highly sought after modern packs such as Evolving Skies. And then when kids who grew up with these “modern cards” become our age and have disposable income, will have that nostalgia for these current runs of cards like we have for the OG runs.

I 100% agree. It will definitely be popular in 20 + years. I wish Pokemon go was a little bit further along. My personal opinion only, I can see them lacking in the names of Pokemon. Gen 1 every name was diverse. Now I see a lot of name are similar. That said tho, I give it up the the pokemon creators. As there’s no way I would be able to think of so many different names.
In Pokemon go..you can have your Pokemon walk beside your avatar as a buddy ..also friend avatars
I agree that pokemon will be around. I remember why I got into the hobby and I realize it was the show when we were kids. I’m 32 so I’m talking about the first few seasons. I think it’s important for pokemon to focus on the two shows they created to ensure they attract the kids to watch and collect. If Pokémon does this, they will ensure there will be collectors and players 10 years and 20+years later.
Another awesome video , keep up the great work Colin
Can’t wait for Pokemon NFTs!! Which projects did you get into in in VeVe and a Kid Called Beast :)
I love VeVe because I can collect Disney and marvel collectibles now
Yea I was into VeVe early on.. got a lot of the comic book drops
I like before I watch to your video 😁 you don't disappoint 👌 My kids are in the hobby and play the games like i did as a kid and they love it. Future looks bright!
That is awesome!
I think a Pokemon Amusement park would be such a slam dunk. That’s what I want to go to with my grandkids
That would actually be SO EPIC!
Just wait when Pokémon comes up with fusions of 2 Pokémons 😍
The China part- hell yeaaaah. My workplace I won't discole but they recently opened up ecommerce and tracking of it and it's the biggest sales we have. Obviously this should be based off the large scope but also production costs to lower prices and also increase margins but it's situation for production of other items close by. China is a great place for them to market pokemon and if their cards become more available it's a great option to save money on English cards. I want those eeveelutions boxes but it's a good 130 and then taxes to get them.
i believe as long as the people who has kids and helps promote the cards and games to the kids it will continue going but the issue is on the adults to keep pushing the stuff onto the kids it was like sport cards when they 1st came out some had interest and others did not then they grew up and started pushing it onto the kids bit by bit and it boomed so big in the 90's that the cards are worthless from early 90's to early 2000's cause of how much got printed from interest so as long as the adults keep pushing it can survive
Yep, i think you're bang on with this take
It’s really hard to tell if it will be just as popular, my brain says no, but then again it has become more popular since 10 years ago
20 years from now with AI so prevalent, we will all be able to purchase a robotic AI pokemon companion and live the true dream… people will buy, trade and even train their AI robots for battles to become a true pokemon master… that’s where it’s all going… watch and see!
that is both creepy and really cool. I'm looking forward to the future!
Not even the slightest chance this happens in that timeframe
@@dcsoda1 you right probably more like 5 years… 🤪
Thanks Colin. Nice presentation. Supply side vs demand side. Demand will be there 10 years from now or I will be baffled. And since it's a physical item it will always have value. Pokemon may not be the best investment 10 years from now but it certainly won't go to 0, not even close.
Well said!
@@ThePokeOffice I've been working on my sealed product game this month dude. I just suck at having the will power to not open the dang things lol.
What are your thoughts about Pokémon releasing more sets compared to the past. Do you think it will make Pokémon lose it value?
By my account, a new set every 2 months is good for business. Good for the TCG to keep it moving forward, and always providing new collectibles to keep people interested.
The last few sets have been mediocre for, nothing I'm really interested in chasing. That's fine tho as I'm still working on my 151 master set and it gives me time/funds to work on my tyranitar collection as well! I just learned about the Team Rocket set that's likely upcoming too, which is promising!
I think Pokemon will stay around for a loooong time, we've really only seen the "first wave" of people getting into their late 20's and 30's who grew up with the franchise and want that nostalgia rush. 20 years from now we will have the kids who are currently playing SwSh, SV, Gen 10, etc and collecting those cards as kids wanting to relive their childhood and be looking for the "old sets" they grew up with!
Side note on your comment about Palworld, there's clearly such a massively undeserved market of millennials that want a deeper pokemon video game experience, it's mind blowing that they seemingly don't want to capitalize on that. So much money left on the table, it doesn't make sense!
It doesn't matter if it is popular, it is going to be collectible forever.
My bias wants to say yes, but my gut says no. 10 year I can see it but over that I'm not sure. All things inevitably come to an end, and from what shops have told me before the whole covid boom it had gotten mightily close to a lot of shops dropping it like CFV, FOW, Etc. With the way pokemon is going they're cruising for major burnout and I feel like it'll die down eventually Tbh. It could come back into style but for that to happen it needs to fall put of style yeah? Just because a kids parent grows up liking something doesn't mean the kid will, look at cars, you've said your dad liked em but you don't really care, it's a prime example. With the way the world is going I just don't see it lasting forever. Do I want it to? Hell yeah, do I think it will be around a while? Yeah sure. 20 years plus though? I'm not so sure. I think mickey mouse is a good example, popular? Sure but as popular as it was ages ago? I'm not so sure. Countless franchises and characters have come and gone, pokemon will no doubt eventually follow it. Also the fact you said you *were* into nfts says everything that needs to be said about nfts. I doubt pokemon would go into em
I think it will be worth more in years to come
I think so too
Like @TriniKidz said, my kids are spr into it, and in 10yrs they'll be buying their own cards
Yep, this is exactly what I think too
Does a bear shit in the woods?!?!!
LMAO!
Under 1 hours gaang
boomskis!
Of coarse it will..disney
Yes but cards won’t be worth anything
Wrong , make card value go up not down
