I Got Scammed out of a Rolex Watch!

Getting scammed out of a watch is really the worse feeling ever. I was selling my Rolex watch reference 6565 of eBay and got an offer that I decided to agree to. The gentleman wanted to do a wire transfer to pay for the Rolex watch so I contacted my bank to get the details of what a wire transfer entails. I have never done one before so I thought I was being smart by doing the research before agreeing to the payment method. Well, clearly my understanding was not deep enough. The transaction he ended up doing was a check deposit into my account with checks he had stolen from someone else. So, he made it off with my watch, leaving me without my money or my watch. Hope you will learn something from my story so that it never happens to you!

Dont think like that brotha, you can do anything you set your mind too. Tell yourself you WILL have that Rolex one day, and I promise you you will have it. You just need to have the mindset, the law of attraction is real, and it works for me everyday. Watch the movie “The Secret” if you havent already.

I'm Getting ready to sell my first Rolex GMT II on ebay. Thank you for the Video. I have sold many classic cars to Europe and always require Wire Transfer because PayPal Sucks, it protects the Buyer not the Seller. I've heard of horror stories how the buyer will send back a fake watch or claims that they got scammed and the buyer send out the fake watch ect.
My strategy will be WireTransfer only! But as this Gentleman just explained, verify with your bank before shipping out!
If sell local, only meet at your local police station so you don't get robbed, It happens all the time.

The similar happened to my closed one's they bought cheap rolex (Refurbished) and never got Tracking ID , called the number it was switched off no reply via email yet, the site even passed the legit test online LOL It wasn't much money but hard earned money still hurts and pandemic's impact on businesses have made it worse . stay safe there is no another time once you learned the lesson😉

sorry to hear that. I very rarely deal with money transfers online it's mostly cash and done. Usually if it's done with s check I do it at the bank with the person online is good but also risky... again sorry to hear about that very unfortunate
No worries! It wasn’t suppose to be a check, suppose to be a wire transfer I just didn’t know enough about it! Like i said it was a learning experience. I am definitely a lot more careful now after the experience. Have you ever gotten scammed/close to being scammed?
@@LifeontheWrist a few times actually almost got scammed but nothing to write home about. People are very evil some times and I learned that at a young age to be careful with a lot of stuff especially money

Originally I got it from a collector I know. Which made it more sad to lose it how I did
@@LifeontheWrist Yeah, he looked at that watch and with that money he bought a bunch of Replicas and sold those replicas for the price of a real Rolex.
This is what they do is venders from Africa that do some kind of scam on you and they get your watch or the legit Rolex an individual sells buys a bunch of replicas, and then they keep selling the replicas for 10,000 dollars.
just happened to me tonight.. im gutted that i sold my dj2 2015 to some scammer and violated! :(
only meet in person and make sure your in safe public place and do your homework on buyer/ or seller come to that. but never send a luxury watch through the post.

Man...this is tough to go thru. I bought an 18k Day date of ebay with wire transfer. Had no problems 100 percent genuine with all the bells and whistles. I eventually sold the watch and made 2K in profit. You have to do your research on the seller or buyer thoroughly. Sorry you got had and you lose your time piece.😞. eBay is the home of selling replica Rolex watches with a price of an original Rolex watch.

The seller lives in Nigeria
The Rolex watch comes from China
The individual goes online buys the Rolex watch thinking is an original Rolex watch but he or she pays 10, 20, 30, or 50 thousand dollars for a replica or fake Rolex watch.
This is the reason for a song called God Bless China for Making Rolex should be made.
That means God greatest blessing is China for making Rolex watches that are replicas to sell them online for the price of the real Rolex so people in developed countries like the US could buy them, so they could make money for a living.

Never cut out the middle man and do business directly with the buyer. ALWAYS do business through Ebay. No transactions or messages outside of Ebay. Hell don't evens get postage outside of Ebay. You want Ebay to see and track EVERYTHING and EVERY CONVERSTION!!

@@LifeontheWrist unsure what the watch cost you bud but I have friends that have lost 100s of thousand of pounds in bad business scruture, divorcing wives and theft of the same kind as you're watch.there is always someone worst off elsewhere

I don’t understand why you wouldn’t contact the police in your area and his area. You obviously shipped the watch to an address and there would have been an investigation. You could also contacted eBay about the fraud and worked something out with them.

The seller is from Nigeria

You always run the risk of being robbed. How do you minimize it. Cash is good but f2f could mean the confrontation may turn sour then to physical injury. Checks can be stolen or fraudulent. Safest way is through PayPal protection but their fees are terribly high. Why are people so fkin terrible! Everybody gets done at some point in life, main thing is you get out more than you put in.
Scammers really do suck. The best that you can do is have the person send it to you via friends and family if possible, but I’m not sure the protection is there if you. But, maybe being scammed is a part of the hobby so you learn from it. Has it ever happened to you?
@@LifeontheWrist I bought a franken Rado watch one time, but managed to get a refund through paypal. Scams can happen outside of the hobby too!
