Good argument… but there’s been a debate on whether or not Kishimoto actually planned to have Itachi be a double agent by Part 1 so if that’s true it might explain Itachi’s behavior towards Kakashi and later Sasuke in Part 1
But he still didn't kill Kakashi but could've. And later he retreated from Jiraya because if Itachi & Kisame fought him, Jiraya would've been dead.. and that seemed weird even to Kisame

Itachi doesn't start to struggle with the cast until Pains level and doesn't really lose most of the time until someone like Minato or above. Itachi is somewhere in the middle of top tier for shippuden cause the top of the top is just really extreme and he has alot of downsides like illness and only reaching base mongekyo.

And Edo Itachi proved to be greater than KCM1 Naruto since he literally fought KCM1 Naruto AND Killer B working together at the same time(while Nagato was still in his old crippled state) ..... and this was proven further when he outperformed early EMS Sasuke in the Kabuto fight

Personally, Itachi is pretty much overrated and overglorified. The guy killed his whole clan *including his girlfriend* because he thought that was the only way to save his brother. I'd say that's a pretty clear indication of either psychopathy or some other massive mental issue. I mean seriously. There could have been a million better things to do. And just to mention a single one: Just look at Fugaku, he had no problem with his son slaughtering the whole clan, his parents included.... Don't you think Itachi just have talked with him and Fugaku would have been like "i got you buddy, lets save the Uchiha". It's just fking stupid. And this guy is called "the second smartest ninja of all time", yea, no. Never. I'm sorry.
Yes i know considering how little sense it makes, it is 99% sure Itachi just got retconned and there were too many issues to fix them all. That's obvious. But still that's how the story is written, and we just have to accept that and take the consequences. Could Itachi have deserved his rating if the story was fixed in the first place, yes. Is that the case, no. So in my mind Itachi's just a stupid guy with basically 0 IQ considering everything published pre-retcon, and afterwards he's magically portrayed to be such an amazing character, thus making him just an amalgamation of two polar opposite characters. In the end, everything about him is a plot device. When he needed to genocide his people, that's what he did, but when he had to be a secret hero, he just turned into that. Same with pretty much all of his abilities. And i just really dislike characters whose main purpose is to be a plot device, that includes Itachi, but also Madara and Hashirama to mention 3. It's like they don't have a personality but just exist for the plot. And now thinking of that, i probably should just have mercy with them for being plot victims...
Bro if itachi didn't want to do it, then the leaf would, and fugaku isn't the only one who makes decisions when the whole clan decided on it, nor is there reason to believe he could be persuaded, shisui wanted to try, but the leaf didn't even give him a chance. It's really not a stretch to just accept that they locked themselves into a war already and there was no way out.. And if this somehow ruins the entire character for you and all his fights and his personality, then you just have a bias against him...
@@LazarTheMaster uhh what? Konoha doesn't want a civil war. Itachi neither. Fugaku could have listened to Itachi, and he got enough influence in the Clan to get stuff sorted out properly. Claiming "it had to be like that" is simply trying to make end meet where they weren't written to do so. Itachi clearly was planned to be a bad guy, but then Kishimoto changed his mind. But the genocide already happened and making the coup be the reason for Itachi to act like that is just a try to patch up something that doesn't fit in the first place.
Also, he fking murdered his whole clan, including his girlfriend and family. What do you expect me to do, tell him well done and pat him on the head??? He literally never redeemed himself for that. I'm not hating him i'm just not blinded and ignoring him being a psychopath just because he had some edgy moments later on.

The only person who cared was the third and there's an example of someone with influence who in the end couldn't do shit with it.. Again no reason to believe fugaku would want to change his mind anyway (also being a teenage double agent doesn't help)... And he killed people that would be dead anyway? You gotta decide if your issue is the writing (becouse naruto does have retcons and 50 plot holes) or the character himself..

And you're clearly not getting my point. Fugaku had no issue dying to Itachi. Why would listen to him to not make a coup be unreasonable??? He clearly understood Itachi was on Konoha's side, he clearly felt the Uchiha were treated badly, and then he got no problem with his own son genociding all of them (yes i know obito had his share, whatever)???? thats either BS, or Fugaku being a masochist, or plain bad writing (tied to retconning too much). You cannot argue that someone who wants to bring the Uchiha back into a good light and who accepts getting killed by his own son would have had so much trouble accepting his son's wish for a peaceful resolution of the tensions.
Feel free to think that was the only way, but that's a very narrow minded way to look at things. And just to be clear, authors are humans and make mistakes. It's ok to criticise points that went wrong. Kishimoto is not a god who'd be able to write a flawless masterpiece.

Itachi is the wall for Sasuke.
His purpose was the comparison between an elitè ninja to a demigod before surpassing Madara.
It doesn't need to become the strongest nor it was meant to become.
I don't say that minato weaker than itachi but itachi is super good at shuriken jutsu and with itachi's speed, he can controll, can impact kunai whenever he wants so his win percent is very high
He isn't overrated. But when you compare him to the actual top in the verse he doesn't always just win.

I think that if Itachi is sometimes overrated, it's because he's the kind of character you know you don't have to worry about. This guy always finds a solution and stays calm in all circumstances. We never saw him panic, be afraid, or even show his emotions. Against Nagato's Chibaku tensei, Itachi was the only one to keep calm to find a solution unlike Naruto and bee.
Also Itachi always seems to be one step ahead everyone. Even his deaths were part of his plan.
Plus, like Knight said, Itachi is the kind of character who either stomp or lose. I can't see a scenario where Itachi gives a long and close fight, it's really either he no-low diff or he loses. Also, we have already seen one shot of extremely powerful ninjas like Orochimaru, so we can think that he is much superior to Orochimaru but plp must understand that: if your level is not significantly higher than Itachi's, you are very likely to get stomp. For example, Zabuza and Orochimaru don't have the same level at all, but Itachi stomps them with the same level of difficulty. However Itachi fans must understand that these one shot techniques... Cannot one shot everyone. And that's the problem, if Itachi can't finish a fight quickly, it shows that he's not the strongest in the fight, because Itachi's fighting style is to finish quickly and not to last over time because of his endurance.
Also, he's very weird to scale: He can reacts to Kirin which is faster than kcm Minato according to black Zetsu but also get blitzed by Kabuto. So people only takes his feats that advantage him and don't take acount his anti feats, which usually contradict to each.

I would also liken that to his tactics too though. People do underestimate his battle IQ to quickly understand his opponent but also know his own limits. To know what he needs to do to quickly end things not only because his stamina issue but simply at his core he is a pacifist

Sage Kabuto is really fast especially in reaction speed, but he's not on the category of Minato or Kirin in terms of travel speed.

Itachi with half his Chakra kept up with killer bee and KCM Naruto at the same time, wile itachi has toska blade and yata mirror . Yata mirror adjust its properties in porportion to its attack. And it's a spiritual shield its not even in this rehelm for kamumi to suck it up. ZETZU said the yata mirror blocks ALL THINGS coming from him who was in the beginning of the ninja world and knoooows about kaguya, for him to seen the whole history of the ninjitzu, coming from him that statement is not to be taken lightly. itachi doesnt have a single feat that proves he is invincible and you do realize users can be separated from their susano right? look at what gaara did to madara lmfao itachis genjutsu can also be countered by jinchuriikis and his strongest jutsu(izanami) only works on people who need to repent and change their ways. also you cant really take things characters say literal all the time madara says his susano is universal is that true?

He has a one shot dragon move that took out an army. And on feats alone he was blitzing people who were beating Ms Sasuke and his group plus a stronger Naruto who comes after 8 tails were needed to handle the yahiko body. Dude was a machine

Nagato definitely deserves one video to show his full potential of power and actually using rinnegan smarter than everyone else combined who had it.

i think the main issue when it comes to itachi is his tactics. he is powerful yes extremely but unlike most others in the verse he doesn't like pushing his limits once he knows a fight his going to drain him ( jaraia for example ) he avoids it and thinks of other tactics. but when it comes to reaine itachi we see him throw most of the philosacy out the window because he doesn't need to converive fuel in the tank so he is more liberal in his fighting style espeully given who he is fighting. but he still maintains a tactical mindset observing first then choosing the right attack.
When there was legitimate claim by fans that he could beat madara, why wont the general consensus be that he's overrated lol.

Itachi is tied with Minato when it comes to talent. Minato did better in the written part of the exam and Itachi did better in the Forest of Death none of which Kakashi is able to compete with other than his promotion to chunin which is admitted he was promoted so quickly due to their need for ninja during the war.

@@QGUUThey were both stated to be talent that outdid previous generations. Minato was stated by Jiraiya to be a once in a decade- century genius while Itachi was reputed as the best to ever graduate the Academy. Itachi is also the only person to ever take the exams solo as well. It’s clear they are similar in the overall talent department. Itachi’s illness is what held him back though he was still quite lethal regardless.

I’ve said multiple times that’s Itachi using his most powerful and potent technique to beat Kakashi exaggerates the gap in power between him and some characters. He had to put Kakashi down without it being a drawn out fight and he did not want to kill him. Him doing that doesn’t mean if he actually fought Kakashi or Orochimaru that he wouldn’t have to try hard if that makes sense.
In series he’s slightly overrated because we have people who thinks he’s close to Madara and Hashirama when in reality he’s in the tier of Nagato Minato Tobirama Kakashi Obito etc..

Itachi was making sport with Konoha elite jonins as it's stated in DB. And Kakashi was in panic because of Itachi just of his anbu days.. I guess Itachi could've killed Kakashi without ms if he went for it. Tsukuyomi is one shot jutsu that allows not to kill your enemy

I would not say stomp , but ofc tobirama made all his jutsu to counter uchiha , it make sense he would be stronger . I would say edo Tobirama win 6/10 fights against alive Itachi . On the other hand Edo Itachi looks stronger to me . First of all he did beat Sage kabuto who had all abilities to counter uchiha (like tobirama have his) . 2nd of all tobirama have no good way to seal him unlike itachi that have totsuka blade . 3rd of all itachi is smarter . (I am not saying tobirama is dumb , but if you see how they fight tobirama is more of reactive guy. Only good thing for tobirama is speed advantage but he have no finisher so if he cant seal itachi he would have hard time dealing with him (he have to imobilize itachi but it would ve hard since itachi can attack himself to destroy his body and made himself free. I would say 7/10 times itachi win the other 3 times is when Tobirama figure out how to imobilize itachi .

Itachi is overrated by a small margin of the community however because of the he's underrated by most of the community put of spite. At 12 years old Itachi was one of the most powerful characters in the verse. He was Obito's equal/rival. At this point Obito is much older than the one Minato faught whom Minato said was more powerful than Pain. That lines up with the fact that Itachi showed relativity to KCM 1 Naruto while not going all out as he never really activates and fights with MS.

Jiraiya can probably break the base 3 tomoe genjutsu of Itachi. Orochimaru was bringing his hands together to break it in their 1st encounter. So if you cover that, I think it's more accurate to say that Itachi only needs 3 tomoe genjutsu to create an opening to kill Jiraiya. Similar to how he used it to freeze Orochimaru and cut his arm off before Orochimaru could counter. The genjutsu itself doesn't have any proof that it fully stops a sannin. But it does have proof that it creates an opening for itachi to win some other way.
Well Orochinaru has better rating in genjutsu than Jiraiya in the databooks, ad Jiraiya himself claimed not to be good at genjutsu @@grantwilliams93
Itachi is in that third tier of power, behind the 6 Paths and God of Shinobi tier characters. The other characters that belong in that tier are Minato, Nagato, War Arc Kakashi, Sage Kabuto, KCM1 Naruto, and early EMS Sasuke. All of these characters easily decimate Kage level fighters but can't quite keep up with the Madaras and Hashiramas of the world.

During the Nine-Tails attack on Konoha, Itachi saved baby Sasuke by infusing his fist with chakra out of pure instinct to destroy debris, mastered the Sharingan at 8, mastered genjutsu to the point he can point at you, Tsukiyomi is a hard bitch to break out of, there's a reason why he was sick and nerfed throughout the whole series and he still beat Kisame in a video game cutscene. He definitely has the potential to become one of the strongest in the verse but he falls short behind Obito and Pain. Edo Itachi though is pretty broken because infinite chakra means infinite Totsuka Blade.

Nah bruh, Gai opens the 7th gate he cooks Itachi. The Yata mirror only blocks from one direction and the incomplete Susanoo Itachi has wouldn’t be able to handle Gai’s punches/kicks. We saw how Tsunade was able to deal with Madaras perfect Susanoo so its very likely Gai breaks through it.
Also remember that everyone in the War Arc had awful power scaling boosts. So Itachi was never as strong as his Edo Tensei counterpart.

What both of you fail to realise is that both jairya and ochomaru have extensive knowledge on dealing with the sharigan unless they are on madrea level or end of series sasuke or higher. The impact of Sasuke’s ninja star made Itachi cry and pick up his ninja headband off the dirty ground. The piercing look in Sasuke’s newly awakened sharingan even made Itachi put his headband on sideways and run away. He's overrated at best.

Overated by Itachi fans , a little bit underated by TH-cam scalers and totally underated by itachi haters that even saying he cant beat Sage jiraya 😂. My take on Itachi is that he can win against almost every character at least 1/10 fights (except otsotsuki bcs they are different breed). Yes even Edo itachi could beat edo madara 1/10 fights in right conditions since he have hax noone else have . Izanami is made to counter uchiha so he can put him under izanami then use totsuka blade . Ofc madara wins 9/10 times bcs he is way stronger and faster and he will end fight before izanami even strike, but at least he have some options so if koshimoto made this fight happend and itachi would won i would buy it. If you put madara vs WA kakashi madara win 10/10 times and it doesnt matter if kakashi is stronger or weaker then itachi . I hope you understand my point .

I made a fan-fic character who's supposed to be based on Itachi, tell me if she's better or not. Here's a lore about her.
Haruka Tendo. She is the first born in the family, having a younger brother (who is the protagonist). She is known to be one of the best kunoichi in her generation and clan. Being a member of the Tendo clan, she possesses a natural usage for genjutsu illusions and was born with the clan's special eyes, the Yumegan, which allows the clan members to create and nullify illusions to a certain degree. As a Tendo clan member, her power comes from her love, but that is also her weakness. Tendo clan members have a curse known as the Curse of Lovesickness, where they become insanely and obsessively in love with one person. Haruka fell victim to her curse at an early age and had to mask it throughout the years of her childhood. She wields the clan's forbidden dojutsu, the Yonaka Yumegan, which gives her access to a powerful illusion technique, the Midnightmare, where she can freely manipulate reality within her illusion. Her greatest technique is one where she implants a vestige onto anyone so she can live on within that person or take control of the person if she wants.

I feel like Itachi and Kisame would struggle against the four Jonin. Kurenai… maybe distract a little, take a hit or two. Kakashi, poor guy, his lightning style could hurt Kisame a lot. But Guy? If he’s in 7th gate, he could MAYBE body Kisame, definitely would need assistance, but against Itachi, I feel like he would do a lot better. He knows not to look into his eyes, he is fast AS HELL, And if Tsunade, love her, BUT IF TSUNADE can crack Madara Susano rib cage, I’m sure 7th gate guy could break through Itachi’s, and he doesn’t use Jutsu so Yatablahblah Mirror won’t help. Only thing would be that body genjutsu Itachi does were you don’t need to look at his eyes…

With himself, at full power, yeah weak after killing most of konoha in ONE PUN- Sorry, one planetary DIVAstation 😂. I don't think itachi could run it with the whole village, especially by himself. Even the 3rd Raikage exhausted himself and died after not even fighting a whole village, but thousands of shinobi.
