I really like what Samsung is doing though, the 48k lossless audio on Bluetooth is honestly game changing. All of a sudden, those Shure, Bose, B&O, B&W, Sony, Apple wireless headphones look like dogshit and it’s going to take years before they’ll be able to adopt that type of technology. Heck, apart from Apple all the other tech companies can’t even make decent ANC right now. But then Samsung with that battery problem right now for their phones is kinda scary…

It's fixed for life, you'll fight your move home hundreds of miles & even change religions! But you'll always support that team? Even though were 14 when you were diagnosed as colour blind! You had no idea they played in all pink! It's a bit like being born on a leap day! You only get a proper B'day every 4 years? Happy new phone day is every two (contract length) years! Why wouldnt you be more impressed with Samsung's ability to put face ID in a in an even smaller punch-hole design AND also include touch ID underneath the glass? To me the iphone's island is funny in the sense that they removed the notch and added a hole punch to the display instead to make more screen space. Then Apple chose to willfully add the island that takes even more screen space than the notch did.

For those unaware, the IP rating numbers are separate. It’s not “sixty-eight”; it’s “six, eight”. The “IP” stands for “Ingress Protection” or “International Protection” as well. The first number (left) is for solids such as dust and sand. A “6” is the highest rating and is noted as “Effective against no ingress of dust; complete protection against contact (dust-tight). A vacuum must be applied. Test duration of up to 8 hours based on airflow. Dust-tight.” The “8” is for water (fresh). It is noted as “The equipment is suitable for continuous immersion in water under conditions that shall be specified by the manufacturer.” As a side note, six is the highest rating on the solids and eight is the second highest for water. The only higher water rating is 9K and is defined as “Protected against close-range high pressure, high-temperature spray downs.” Source: clarionuk.com/resources/ip-ratings/

First they get rid of the 3.5mm audio jack. Then the micro SD card. No wall plug in the box.

really insightful video. I've had my note 10 plus for almost 4 years now and I'm looking to upgrade soon. one thing that gets me is as cool as it looks I HATE the curved display. yeah it does make the display look nice but you can forget about screen protectors. I've had multiple and I've just had to ditch them entirely because they don't stay on. also I feel like it adds extra vulnerability to the screen. but I do like using third party applications such as emulators and that is a bit limited on the iPhone. so hard to choose lol

    • @akiramenai4973

You can get screen protectors made specifically to fit the curves. I've had the Note 8 for 5 years and only went through 2 screen protectors in that time. Otherwise you could also opt for the glass covers, which are also curved and of course won't peel up. I just got the Ultra 3 days ago and I can't even find anything aside from glass protectors, so I guess I'll pick one of those up tomorrow.

As a longtime  user, I have always used iPhones since the iPhone 4S. IMO it's just refreshing to see a video comparison laid out in a way that highlights the strengths of both devices, rather than hearing the endless jabs of  did this first or Android did this first. Like Saf stated, it basically comes down to personal preference. Great video.

For me phones & watches & headphones(in ear) are great. Quality, coverage power, speakers, screens, camera, connections. All's I wish is they give you longer use time, bigger more powerful battery. If I going 36 hours without charging my phone watch etc. They crap out on me! Why not a full back face 10, 000mAhr battery? This would make the phones 0.5mm thicker & the rear cameras would flush/er & protect them from physical damage better! Who care about 0.5mm extra thickness(if that) & a few grams extra weight in exchange for double at least the time between charges & probably take no longer to charge!

Currently more of an apple user, but the S22 is super exciting as a phone. I appreciate the consistency of the iPhones over the years, and how “tight” everything feels, even if it means that Apple waits longer to bring in certain features or doesn’t let me have the same level of customization as One UI. For me, my phone is a tool that doubles as something I can watch/listen my favorite shows/podcasts on when I’m not home, and I think Apple does a great job of making it basically seamless to use it as such.

Saf, here's my issue... Maybe you could do a short episode and hold Samsung's "feet to the fire" a bit, into why Samsung keeps dumbing down the phone that used to be for 'power users' (the Note/Ultra)? Or how they can justify not providing updates to phones that have the same RAM as their current flagship? The standard Note 10 and even the Note 9+ have the same RAM capacity as the entry-level S22 and processors that exceed mid range spec phones today! Apple still pushes OS updates down to phones made twice as many years ago, which implies that they dedicate the time to figure out how to make older hardware work longer. They (entities like Samsung and Apple) seem to respond to folks like You (Saf.) Shaming them for not trying to make older hardware relevant, or even keeping devices from becoming e-waste sooner, by keeping them relevant. Apple can do it, why can't Samsung? At the end of the day... Where is the incentive to buy the higher RAM version of Samsung devices when they will eventually be made obsolete on the same schedule as the lowest spec version in the range? I have been a Samsung user for a long time, but seriously I am asking myself why. If I wanted an Apple I would have bought one by now. Long time fan, first time asking for help. Thank you for what you do!!

You know, that's exactly what apple is looking and why they choose this date for globale release each year.
They know Samsung hasn't released their new flagship yet and that their device will be compared to last gen samsung's.
And even if comparisons are redone once the s23 lineup is out, it doesn't change the impact on sales thoses kind of comparisons might have for a few weeks.
And yes thoses kind of things are really planned by marketing and it's actually clever.

Yet an iphone gen is always facing two Galaxy generations. The one available when it's released and the one that came out a few month after.
So we could say that there's almost a six months or so windows during which each phone is the superior one. Galaxy 22, iPhone 14, galaxy 23, iPhone 15, galaxy 24 ...
And in terms of marketing thoses windows are certainly kept in purpose by the two brands.
