Great video and my grandson has been watching this so he can replace his grandmother's engine. He is a mechanic but he is young. I even got a lot out of this. Thanks
All Tsab, just came across this video and, although you created this a few years ago, had to comment after hearing your comments at the end of the video. I truly appreciate the work that you've done to record your videos. I obviously watched this one and the other one that you did earlier on a white Honda Pilot replacing the same model engine. (I have a 2007 Honda Odyssey on which I may have to replace the rear main seal and watched these videos to see how to take the engine out from the top as I don't have a lift but do have an engine hoist). ALSO, I watched the videos that you did to replace the engine from the top on the eight generation Honda Civic because I did actually need to replace an engine on one of those due to the infamous block crack/water leak. Your Civic videos helped to give me confidence that I could replace it...and I successfully did it! In the future, please ignore any of the negative comments from those who say that they can't understand what you're saying because your videos are valuable resources and, in my opinion, your English is good enough that anyone who really wants to understand you will. I continue to be impressed at you and others who produce these videos because of the time that is required to do so. I don't think most TH-cam viewers realize what is involved in making these. Thanks again.
I seen a lot of do it yourself videos and they don’t give many explanations of who what they be doing the job. You give explanations and instructions pretty good on how and why you doing it. Good job man!
Really enjoyed the video. Getting ready to do this on a 2004 Honda Pilot, and don't have the means to pull the engine from the bottom (no hoist), so this really helps me out.
Brother you did awesome! Never-mind peoples comments that are ridiculous ….your understood perfectly and hope ive got a mechanic thats honest to help with my 2003 Pilot engine. Great job
good bro, you speak very well and your work very thorough. The first time I exchanged an engine on an Acura MDX, almost all of my information came from you. Once again, excellent video and well spoken.
Great video! You're a super nice guy and right on the money with your attitude. God bless you and I wish you much happiness and success. My 2003 Pilot has 385k and still going strong but a sparkplug broke off in the head so I'm thinking a JDM engine swap instead of repair of head. Shame because I wanted to get 500k out of original motor. Take care of these motors and they will take care of you. Cheers!
My project is coming along. Next up is the rear motor mount. When you pulled the motor do you remember if you left that rear motor mount attached to the engine (the through bolt)? If there's enough clearance to pull it while leaving that attached that will be easier than getting that side bolt out. The 3 bolts you showed I think I can get out which will allow it to be removed from frame. Thank you
I just bought a 2003 pilot and I need to remove the alternator but I have broken tensioner so I need to figure out how to pull it off. Great video thanks for your help!!
One of the 2009 pilot broke just like your lucky it not super tight I be able to hit with a tip of chessel and turn loose. Try like that to see that work for you. The way it hit is hit the side it turn loose slowly tap the broken stud to turn hopefully not so tight for you.
Im planning to replace the engine of my 2006 honda exl pilot when its time. Do you think its cheaper rather than buying a second hand car? I like my pilot, it didn't give me headache the past 15 years.
Great video! Trying to decide whether to replace my ‘08 pilot engine or replace the pilot. There is coolant in the cylinder. Could be a head gasket, could be a cracked engine block. The head gasket only has 10K miles on it, so that seems unlikely. Not sure what I’m gonna do yet but enjoyed the video.
you are correct about used engines....unless you really trust the depiction by the seller of what the engine is and how it runs you are taking major risks, often times the labor is worth more than the engine......so be careful and try to always hear it run before you buy it.

I have a 2008 pilot. it is needing an engine and transmission. Just curious how many hours it took you to do the engine swap? Can I pull both the engine and transmission out together? How much more work is it to pull them out together? THanks! Really appreciate the video!
