Reason 539 to love this channel: the final view was in the same video as the work, so we didn't have to wait a month like a lot of other channels that save the reveal for a second video that comes out a week or more later.

I've learned so much from watching your videos. Many years ago I redid the ceiling in my small condo kitchen. I removed those sunken fluorescent lights under clear plastic panels and installed drywall with canned lights. It came out less than desirable so my fix was the brightest baddest led lights that blind you if you look up!
My "numbering" system" includes fractions so I think I'm about at a 3.6 level.

This video helps me a lot as I am replacing the plastic panels on the ceiling with sheet rock panels. Sheet rocks are pretty sturdy to hold recessed LED lights. Now I know what to do to improve the look of these sheet rocks panels. I am not going to the extreme like this video but as long as my ceiling looks good, I am OK. Kind of hard to see as the LED lights on the ceiling is going to blind whoever looking at the ceiling ;-)

Good job bud. That 2nd coat over a painted surface is a 🐻. I found that misting the area with water( I use a pump sprayer or sponge) and let it sit 5 minutes or just before water evaporates. Then apply 2nd coat. Cuts the amount of bubbles by 80 percent or better. Give it a try. Thanks for your videos

In my part of the country I think it is against the law for drywall guys to use lights. Particularly as an inspection tool. I paid someone to tape and float a 750 Sq ft condo. He (and his wife) did the whole thing with no lighting, even at dusk. Needless to say it showed big time. I ended up bringing a dual lamp. He wasn't even embarrassed by the globs, chunks, missed corners, pin holes, etc. Just looked at me like I was an a _ s for even questioning his work. After my 3rd inspection I just sent him on his way. It took me longer to clean up the poor workmanship than had I done it myself. And I had planned to texture everything. Now it's level 5 and will stay that way.

Thank you for the videos. I was looking through the descriptions but could not find info on the light you used to check the wall surface. Do you recall which light it is?? Tia

You do some nice work. I see the ceiling appears to be painted. Would you say it's safe to skim coat over paint, or at least primer?

Is there a type of mud that adds sound proof capabilities. The insulation under the drywall just doesnt cut it.

Plastering is such a pain in the ass job😂 not only is your hand above your head the whole time which hurts, but it didn’t go as smoothly in my case 😂

Have you tried filing your trowel and knife down? A new sharpened smooth blade will scrape the bubbles out, and shouldn’t come back when you reapply mud if you want any fill. Might have to scrape in different directions but it works like 95% of the time rather than 50% of the time lol. Cheers from the Fraser valley!

I agree! We had cove lights in tne hallways where I used to work, and they were a real pain to change (4 foot tubes). I wonder what the homeowner will do if they have to replace the lights. I assume that they're LED strips, but the opening looks pretty narrow.

Didn't realize I did a level 5 ceiling when I installed my leds. Mind you I did more than 2 coats

I would like to think I’m pretty good on mud jobs, I take my time, get up close with an LED light, feather my edges, do 2-3 scim coats, and try to make things as perfect as I can can.
With all that said, I would have passed on that job. I think that job would have done nothing than piss me off and give me a headache.
I would have told the customer why I’m passing and what to look for in the contractor.
Those lights show every single imperfection.
Congrats to you for being a true professional.

Love your videos man. Just wondering why wouldnt you use a muchlarger blade to skim that like a 2 foot blade ?

Little trick I learnt a long time ago is do your first coat in a half thicker taping mud mixed with a little runny confill to make almost a perfect thicker first coat mud sand that and use thin finish mud no bubbles ever. Sucks sanding on cieling but hey no bubbles lol

Pro tip bro, if you wanna have less bubbling when skim coating, put dawn dish soap in your mud when mixing it up.
