    Great job Mike! This is exactly the content I was looking for. A lot of people compare the X-H2S with the XT-4. That doesn't interest me.

      Thanks Paul! I’ve been a little wild the last year switching systems, but I think it’s given a lot of insight. I’ve got friends with lots of bodies to compare to in the near future too!

    Presently shooting wildlife with the XH-1 and the 100-400 and considering my options. The difference with cropping on the two cameras and the remaining resolution is something I’ve been wondering about, thanks for the comparison.

      I strongly recommend you check out my friend dude_with_a_fuji on Instagram. He shot that same combo for years before switching to an xt2. He still gets incredible results with it and if you watch the video i put out yesterday, there are also some discussions and tests with the 100-400 on the xh2s. It works very well! We’ll have a more in depth lens comparison soon, and while I prefer the new one if I were choosing at a store, the 100-400 is a kick ass piece of kit!

      @@heymikeriley Great I’ll do that. But yes I’m thinking about a lens change too, as well as the extra reach, the new one looks to have better weather sealing possibilities with that internal zooming, and it’ll be easier to carry with mounts on the barrel.

      First off, having the X-H2S (and the X-H1) I can comment… The new autofocus system and functionality introduced with this camera, sets it apart from anything Fuji has ever presented… it’s amazing for action and wildlife! The existing 100-400 XF lens works flawlessly on this camera, I also have and almost exclusively use this lens on the camera now… I will soon get the opportunity to test the new 150-600 for about a weekends duration, and I think having the 100-400 to compare with, will make quality and handling differences a challenge in hair-splitting

    Great video, makes sense! I left Canon R7 with the greatly over priced. Only had the X-h2s 150-600mm. So sharp and love the 900mm reach.Also the stacked sensor and its benifits. Its the same price as the R7 & 100-500, the Fuji is way way better.

    • @heymikeriley
      @heymikeriley  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m actually back using an r5 (in addition to the z9) after a series of incidents and gear swaps, but yea, I was looking at an r7 and the xh2s is a far superior camera, albeit more expensive.
      I owned the 100-500 and hated it. I think the one place Fuji lacks is lens selection. That’s why I left. I wanted to buy a big prime and canon and Nikon had lots of good deals on older, used lenses.

    You could convert the RAF files from the XH2s to DNG with Adobe DNG converter and then ON1 raw can read them!

    Hello Mike, I'm in south France, I've made pictures of birds this weekend with my brand new Fujinon 150-600 with the XT4 and the last firmware to use the lens. And all the photos were blury, it was very sunny and I was at 1/2000 s and F8, with electronic shutter or mechanical. Sometimes I activated the Ibis or not, but every shot was weird. And when I use my XT 3, the results are ok. Did you notice this issue ? Thanks. Frédéric

    • @heymikeriley
      @heymikeriley  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Frederic, I haven’t noticed that, but it shouldn’t be IBIS. What were the birds doing and what autofocus mode were you using? If you can link me to a photo, I might be able to advise!

      @@fredericbonet2569 the ibis mode in your xt4 must be set to option 2 to shoot continuous and also your focus selector dial must also be in continuous afc mode with shutter speed over 1000th of a second but with still birds you must use ibis mode one and camera must be in afs single point for use in shutter speeds less the 800th of a second

    You are beating yourself up for no good reason. Light is what it is all about. With great light, it is very difficult to take agreat pictures. Alot of your loon pics have the light in the wrong place and so they look silhouetted.

    Yeah, the Canon TC on 100-500mm lens only works from 300-500mm is a dumb design.

    • @heymikeriley
      @heymikeriley  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn’t think it would bother me, but man it sure bothered me a lot lol. I used the 2x for video quite a bit and it was so annoying. I’m never going to say it’s not a good lens. It’s fantastic quality. My point is it’s got some head scratching design choices and costs way more than other lenses from other companies. I’ve seen multiple tests show that canon’s own rf100-400 has similar sharpness. If I’m gonna spend 4k on a lens, it’s going to have to be more than they’re offering. I hope I don’t upset people too much, if you’ve got an r5 and 100-500 it’s a very good kit, but had this option existed when I bought the canon, I’d have never left Fuji l

    R5 is way better then the Fuji

    • @heymikeriley
      @heymikeriley  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Having owned both and shot tens of thousands of photos on the R5, I do not agree. When the r5 came out, I think it was the best option for sophisticated autofocus, stills speed and video features. I sold my whole Fuji kit to buy one. But Fuji has finally answered and there’s nothing on the market that can compete with the X-H2S features and price. There’s also nothing the r5 can do that matters in the real world that the Fuji can’t. It’s quite remarkable!

    • @heymikeriley
      @heymikeriley  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It definitely doesn’t look good here. I got lots of nice shots with it, but it’s hard to say where the problems came from. I’d say it started with autofocus. The tracking looked like it was getting the look but it wasn’t so I had to go back to a joystick. Trying to actually get the focus and a low angle lead me to higher shutters than I’d have liked and higher isos. At that point it starts to fall apart. I bet the om1 would do a way better job top to bottom though.
