Combine the tank bag and phone mount by getting a tank bag with the clear window and phone holder. You can carry snacks, extra batteries for your GoPro and other essentials. Or if you are in Flint Michigan like I am you can carry a backup gun and a bunch of extra loaded magazines. 🤣

I wonder how many people have wrecked and been thrown a distance from their bike and hurt badly and can't call anyone to help because they just happen to be riding alone in the twisties. Even if they're laying beside the bike it's likely the phone will be sent a ridiculous distance into the woods from the wreck. I've traveled the united states' and only ever read the road signs and showed up to my destination every time. Keep your phone on you. Trying to read a phone screen while riding isn't the best option for most anyways.

Phone mount yes, but not for the new iPhones. The camera gets broken due to the vibrations. I bought an OUKITEL WP5 off of Amazon to serve as my navigation. Just use your hotspot on your iPhone to the OUKITEL WP5. Then, Bluetooth from OUKITEL WP5 to your helmet coms for spoken navigation directions.

A pair of sunglasses and a clear visor is the easiest day-to-night option, followed by a transition visor, followed by a helmet with a built in sun visor. All are good options, but I don't think it's ever a good idea to rely only on a tinted visor all the time. You need to be more versatile than that.

Now me and my partner can comfortably go for a weekend getaway with the panniers and topbox fully loaded and nothing on our backs or laps. Plus my partner can lean against the topbox as a backrest. Granted I do have the luxury of owning more than 1 bike, this is mounted on my ADV bike while my naked bike has nothing

Also had nice clothe and cleaner for the days when bugs were out in number. Good back pack is only thing I ever needed no phone holder or sliders or most of the junk guys use today. I rode to ride if i was staying over night or going to see family and needed luggage took a car. I am sport bike guy I rode for backroads and speed, did not need anything that back pack could not carry. anything else is weight and slows bike and kills handling and braking. Bike was my ferrari, fast and slick minimal things. if it did not make make bike stop or go better I did not want it. luggage is for cars not bikes. Bikes are for speed and fun, at least for me, but you gold wing guys are cool if you like to travel fine. If I travel I take a car. safer more space for junk and tunes and no rain on me. LOL

Pro tip: make sure your trickle charger is rated for the correct batter type. Most standard chargers only support traditional lead-acid or AGM (absorbed glass mat) batteries. If you have upgraded to a lithium battery (I don't think they come stock on any bikes yet), you will need the appropriate charger, ideally one that can toggle between both types. Also helps to invest in a battery with a built in jump starter for emergencies.

transition/photochronic/photogray visors shields are not all they’re talked up to be. depending on conditions, transition periods can last several minutes during which you may see ghost-like shadows in your visor. Your visual depth of field (sense of perspective) may also be flattened or otherwise distorted. The conditions in which these things happen include tunnels, street lights at night, and shady country roads. Even overcast sky can cause distortion in what you see through a transition visor. Essentially, any time the light is not uniform, even a little bit, your transition visor is going to transition, or at least try to.

Even if you've got decades of driving experience there's no comparison in speed feel. No TH-cam video will teach a baby squid what 75 feels like on a bike. And in most cases to someone new 45 on a bike feels like 75 in a car, 85 on a bike is mach a billion.

Do you remember how people laughed at Trump for looking into an eclipse? Yah, same thing except every day. Eyewear needs to be polarised when tinted.

I live in the frozen wasteland of North Carolina and yeah, trickle charger. I've had my bike for 2 years and both winters I've had to replace the battery because it's been hopelessly flat, even when it barely gets below freezing for a couple months

phone on handlebars. bs. bad idea. and of course thats no. 1 on the list from a millenial vlogger. of course! gotta have my phone screen up while driving/riding. (smh) just as bad as cagers.
cant live w/out their phone in front of them at all times (distracting them).
Oh, I can make n take calls on my bike just fine, and get voice gps, listen to music from it, or tune in on FM all in my sena 10c pro. and a camera too.
had tried the phone on bars or somewhere but can u make n take calls on it?. w/out running a earplug and leaning over shouting at it, or wiring a mic also?.
can u see it on sunny days?. isnt sunny days damaging it from heat?., yes. isnt it's fragile little circuit board an solders being vibrated at a high frequency and absorbing all the shocks from the bumps ?., yes.
dont they fall off sometimes... any mount?., yes. certainly any fall over theyre going flying or smashed or both. u probably crashed cos u were diddling with the dang phone, so lern and buy a new one for a grand. + new fairings grips levers, helmet jacket boots gloves and very possible ER room visit.
jacket pocket, backpack, even front jeans pocket would be better if u must take it along. I CAN make take calls but I never have answered one or made one riding.
I ride to get away from screens and life and stress, I dont even listen to music, or wear earplugs. I want the full visceral experience. nothing else.

If you find yourself taping together something that used to be your turn signal more than a few times a year you might consider something like bark busters. They also save your hands if you go down hard.

LOL helmet gloves jacket and pants and boots 5 must have accessories, the 6th a real riders class a racing class. Those are first 6 things every street rider needs the rest is BS and fine but not needed, just wanted. I never had any of the ones on the list of his 10 ridden for decades the gear and class was all I needed to ride anywhere any time from a 10 mile blast to fats one real stop for rest ride from alabama to miami and back on a ninja 600. Not one thing on his list did I need for any real ride, all great things but must have is total BS. gear skill and bike is all that is a must have

Phone mount is the dumbest thing on this list. If you wreck your bike and you cant get to your phone then what?? Phone should be in your front pocket! Get a dedicated GPS if that's what you use your phone for.

Don’t mount your phone on the handlebars, the vibes will kill the sensitive electronics, esp. an iPhone and you risk becoming distracted by the phone at a critical moment.

    • @mattrigg5835
      @mattrigg5835 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Came to say the same thing. If you care about having a fully-functioning camera on your phone, don't mount it to your bike. Over time the vibrations will destroy the stabilisation/focusing components.
I'd rather get a dedicated satnav than have a potentially broken camera.

when I bought my vstrom I threw the catalog on it. I wish it had cruise control as I haven't found a throttle lock I like after trying a few types. The best investments I made in accessories though is heated grips, heated Corbin seat, the hand guards, and a center stand. As well as almost everything else on the list. It's a great bike for sure but that being said there's no way I'd want bags on my z900. it's all about the riding you'll do with it

The only issues are reliability can be hit and miss and parts availability when something does break. I would buy something from one of the bigger manufacturers just to make sure you aren't stuck buying parts online and waiting for weeks for them to arrive when something does break. There is one dealership within a few hundred miles of me and it is 2 hours away. Your area may be different but here it is an absolute no just based on that factor.

All good suggestions, but i guess i don't really use any of them. I ride scooters so no real handlebars, they are under plastics. I have been using strong velcro for real long time with and old phone for a speedometer. I have a cheap mount on my tmax i too Took the plastics off to do so. Only use that with gps if using though. I live in the midwest and have never used anything heated, and i ride until very late in the year just before the first major snow forecast. I am paranoid about that battery drain. Larger snowmobile gloves or latex gloves under normal ones. My current helmet has a flip down visor, good to know they have color changing ones though. My tmax has a tender wire hooked up i never use. I take the batteries out every year and no good access to plug at moment anyhow.

@@StrawDragon Or the dude might not like dealing with changing gears. A Tmax isn't some weak 50cc scooter.
Hell my daily rider is a 550cc scooter and it's way more practical for that than my track bike.
      Bikes funner of course.
