I like that you included a skirt in this round up. I know many male presenting people who wear utility kilts and I have also seen androgynous looking people in skirts. It's always nice to have options.
I am old enough to remember when women weren't allowed to wear pants to school. My freshman year in high school was the first year it was allowed. It just seems ridiculous to assign a garment to just one gender. Clothes are how we present ourselves to the world, and we should all be allowed to be our authentic selves.
@@theresaanndiaz3179 That is crazy! To be honest, my wife had to wear a school uniform and they were also not allowed pants. So the world is changing only slowly. But I'm glad to see people can wear what they like more and more
This shows one more time that you are a wonderful human being inside and out! What a great inclusive and thoughtful video. This videos not for me, but I have people in my life that would totally appreciate all the recommendations. Thank you for sharing! ❤
Thanks for this roundup! It's so rare to find roundups that are targeted to a more gender neutral look. And personally I appreciate that you've given so many patterns from companies that you have experience with, it gives me extra confidence that these are good ones! While I haven't sewn that specific swimsuit pattern, I've found that Mood patterns aren't bad, but their instructions can be rather difficult to follow for less experienced sewists
thanks for putting this together! didn't bother me at all that the pattern companies were repeated, I think its more important that you are familiar and recommend the pattern companies strongly!!
Great idea to look at this topic. I like girly styles but I am straight up and down with a very small bust. I just can't be bothered to learn how to take out bust darts, so I usually look for patterns with no darts. My other favourite is tops with little gathers on the shoulders which avoids the need for darts too. Itch to Stitch patterns are very good in that they also do an A cup size.
Thank you for this lovely video idea, and what wonderful execution! I really appreciate the conscientiousness of your channel Noemie. The awareness around body dismorphia, fluctuating body sizes, carefulness around fit broadly, size inclusivity especially, and gender inclusion are things that I think broadly draw people to the idea of making their own clothes in the first place. I really wish there were more pattern companies successfully drafting patterns to address these considerations and more sewing content creators like you highlighting them! You're a leader in this space, for sure.
I'm a frilly dress loving, curvy, mid size cis woman, so this video is not for me. But I know a trans woman and a nonbinary human bean who sew and they will totally appreciate this video and the pattern list! Thank you! ❤
Yay! Thank you so much for sharing the video 🩷 I was hoping it would be ok to post something maybe not relevant to all my viewers, but which could still be helpful in general
I think Friday Pattern Co has a blog post on how to adapt the Rambler pants to fit a person with more volume in the hips as well! I haven't made them but I appreciate when a pattern company creates resources on adapting patterns to suit your body or style better. I also GREATLY appreciate the inclusion of a skirt! I think we often default to thinking of genderless/androgynous clothing as being things you would find in the "men's" section -- but all clothing is truly genderless 🥰
Such a good idea! I guess most people who watch your channel like a similar style, but it's great that you have put time into researching clothes for those who prefer an androgynous look, or, have those who want to sew for someone who would like these pieces.😊
You’re amazing and super thoughtful! 😊 This is such a great pattern roundup! 👏 It looks like “Mill Creations” is a website that hosts sewing patterns from multiple indie pattern designers. The workwear jacket you shared is by Birgitta Helmersson, and I was definitely going to suggest her if you didn’t! 😊 In addition to her numerous individual sewing patterns, Birgitta has also published a book called “zero waste patterns: 20 projects to sew your own wardrobe”, which I would highly recommend for androgynous styles as well! 💯 I would also highly recommend Elbe Textiles- She has several unisex patterns and even offers a free zero waste unisex jacket tutorial in a blog post on her website! 😊 Lastly, I haven’t sewn anything from Tropical Research, but I’ve heard a lot of good things about them, and it looks like they have several unisex patterns as well! 👍
I have made the zero waste jacket: Super instructions with pictures and a video to guide through. It’s a bit of a unusual start because there is no actual pattern you draft it based on the fabric and math but it’s actual not that hard to do. It’s also made for two sizes with a lot of ease build in.
I've made the sara pants- twice actually- and I can confirm it is cut quite big. The first go was my mistake for choosing the wrong size- my waist and hips are different sizes so I chose the larger of the two sizes. That was too big, so I sized down and really I needed to size down again! I didn't realize at the time that I could grade between the two sizes so maybe I'll try again in the future. I also found the crotch to be a bit bulgy due to the pleats, but it could very well fit differently if I made it again at the smaller size.
The Modern Sewing Co is excellent, I just finished the over shirt and it’s very gender neutral. Also Elbe Textile has a lot of unisex patterns and the silhouettes are more gender neutral. Also have you joined threadloop yet? You should make a list there!

I’m glad you approve. I felt like it needed to be included

So much easier if you don’t have to mess with the darts 👌👌

🥹🥹🥰 thank you so much. This is really nice to read.
Very interesting topic ! I can recommend Elbe Textiles, which offers wonderful androgynous patterns ✨
Thank you for the recommendation! I knew the comments would have great ones ☺️

Oh that’s brilliant they have a blog post about it! Truly love that pattern company.
I’m glad you approve of the skirt ☺️
Really interesting content, and fun to explore different styles than what we're more used to see on your channel 😊

I hadn’t tried it, but guessed it was so (it’s often the case with ZW patterns). But I’m glad someone has tested it ☺️

Yes I also need to grade between size. I’m curious to make them to see, but good to know you had a similar experience!
I love this video
Oh thank you ☺️☺️

Thank you for the recommendations ✨ I didn’t know about Threadloop, it looks so fun!
