    Comparing it to a Corvette as a sports car??? It's not a sports car, it's a luxury touring car. It's too big? It's an S Class s stands for Super. If it's too big then get an E coupe or a C even.
    As far as worrying about people not knowing if it's a C class or an S. Who cares . If you know you know. This is nuts

    • @ICNVDE
      @ICNVDE  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for checking out the video!!!! I wasn't intentionally comparing it to the corvette, maybe I didn't explain it well but I cam from a corvette to the S- Coupe and it was a bridge car from my C7 to C8. Part of the reason I got the car was because of the performance, but it's something about having a car that big move that fast that doesn't feel right. What I mean by that is the S coupe truly sticks to luxury so even in sport mode you don't have enough feedback from the road to drive the car as spiritedly as you would a sports car but the capabilities are there.
      I say its to big because the back seats are pretty much useless unless you sit with great posture and are under 5'8". What you get from the rear seats is a false illusion of transporting 2 extra passengers. They could've provided the same amount of rear passenger room as the Lexus LC 500 or a BMW 850i and been just as successful. What you have to understand is the S coupe replaced the Mercedes CL which was meant to be a performance focused Luxury Coupe, similar to the Lexus LC 500. Instead you got a more luxury focused performance coupe which was less connected to the driving experience and more entuned to driving comforts. It isn't a bad car but it isn't the best car for the initial purchase and selling point provided by Mercedes. Also the S stand for Superior meaning its the top of the line for the Mercedes brand....but with out an active sunroof I disagree with the best they can offer tag.

    You are spot on with the S Coupe looking like the C Coupe. As a S Coupe owner, I absolutely hate that Mercedes did that. The S Coupe was supposed to be luxury above luxury. An exclusive club where we turn heads and asked what car is that? I get asked more about my rims than I do the car.

    Great detailed review. Watched this 'cos in the market for a used S class coupe so wanted some 'realism'. Agree about the infotainment system. It's basically the same as in my E class saloon and it is fiddly to use and rather distracting on the move. As you say, do get used to it but it always remains annoying. On the interior colour, does seem restrictive that you can't customise it, so I would look for one of the alternative standard options. I've seen an interior in a tan colour and it looks amazing, so expensive looking. Thanks.

    • @ICNVDE
      @ICNVDE  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I hear your point but you also have to remember the real purpose of the car was to replace the CL. The CL was a coupe and it had a functional sun roof. They have a C-class coupe that has a sliding roof, the option could've been added... they dropped the ball with that one and it's the number one complaint by 90% of S-class coupe owners. It's also the shortest ownership experience of any car they ever produced and I wonder if that plays a factor since its a much better car than the CL it replaced. The CL had a much longer ownership experience and it came almost completely standard with a power sunroof.

    Mercedes specializes in redundancy. When it comes to controls. There is like 2-3 ways to do something in that car. I have an E class and there are 3 different ways to control functions on the infotainment system. At random just press buttons on the center console near the arm rest. I found out that I can skip to the next track by turning the knob on my center console by accident. Also look for hidden tricks and features on you car. For example: you can pop the trunk from the inside of your driver side door by pulling in towards you. Did you know if you pushed it in it will close your trunk?(as long as you are in park)Just push it in and hold it there(edited)

    • @ICNVDE
      @ICNVDE  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well I guess that's a gift and a curse depending on where your view point stands with that. One thing I haven't figured out is why sometimes i can be in back of my car wiping it down or just walking past in a tight spot and the trunk opens as if I've given it some secret rub and it offering me the treasure inside when theres no clear button in the back of the car to open the trunk. I love the luxury this vehicle offers but there are still a lot of little functions that boggles my mind about it they could've kept.

      I bought the car because I was impressed with it's luxury and I was interested in the Mercedes CL which got discontinued. The driving force for me was the Bentley Continental GT, I was looking for something that would get me cllose to the luxury offered on the 2020 Bentley but a much cheaper cost. The S coupe is that vehicle! After owning it for a few months and adjusting to parking it in crowded areas i realized it quite deceptive at first glance because it's a coupe but it just as large as many standard sedans and that wasn't what I was expecting. I honestly agree with @ICNVDE take on the glass roof. If it's a cold day or if it's raining you don't want all of your windows down. But it's nice to be able to put the glass roof into a vent mode. I have a 2014 E Class coupe and enjoy my panoramic roof being able to both vent and open. The CL class that this S Coupe replaces had a standard sunroof that would vent and open. It's a bad decision to make the next flagship luxury coupe from Mercedes not have that option. Just not sure their reasoning to why they didn't do the same with this S class coupe. Size and weight of the glass maybe? Since it is a larger car than my E class.

I couldn't let the music keep playing without leaving the key in the car and it annoyed my family constantly because if i pulled up to a gas station to run in and buy a drink or snacks it continued to beep and make annoying noises while i was out the car. It makes you have to leave the key in it for basic life functions. Truly another dislike of mine!!! Great recognition.

      Here's the thing, you think it's that simple but it isn't. There is no options for a roof that opens. There's no option for a better sounding sound system, I had the premium sound system which actually made the base system sound worse. You could choose on the interior colors but you can't get truly creative and have two tone suede seating surfaces and matching stitching, similar to the lexus LC 500. So what I was getting at is its an amazing car filled with luxury options but it also keeps you basic and plays it safe. Its not for the person that wants to be unique and have a car that's a representation of them.

      I think you miss understood, the main reason I bought the car was it was a big coupe. The same reason I look at the RR Wraith today. The size wasn't the issue it was the performance combined with the speed. I felt they put a lot of power with the car transforming it from the one of the most ultimate luxury vehicles on the market to a mediocre performance coupe that's to big to provide superb handling at high speeds. The driving focus of the car is built around luxury and performance was an after thought, the car is 90% luxury coupe and 10% grand tourer. It's like at the last min they decided to attack the GT market to get more sale or decided to put the latest and greatest engine they built into the car to help justify the price but the actual performance ability wasn't a true consideration in the major development of this car.

We all purchase vehicles for different reasons and at some point what lead me to the car wore off and I started to see it for what it was. Its probably by far the most technological car I ever owned and is truly amazing, I wanted some access to the outside world via the roof, and easier to navigate audio controls which make you take your eyes off the road less. I felt like they were true desires because the lower models do it so why not the premier luxury coupe in the brand?

AMG cost another $40 to $50K, My car is a base model, that means no rear badging, no rocker flares, chrome on lower front bumper does not extend around to both sides of the car… But yet new it’s still a $130K car… The car comes with all option that AMG and Sports model..

      @@benjamingenous4889 Well that's an interesting POV, I never thought about the levels of specifications being a draw back but you make a good point. My car brand new was $148K and I didn't have the Sports package or any form of AMG. Honestly I wanted the Night Vision more than I did the sports package and I only found V12 AMG's with it. I was trying to be more cost efficient with the car because I had no intent on keeping it more than 3 years. I really feel like it was an amazing car and I struggled ot find 5 things i hated with the car. I really only had 2 beefs with it; and the sunroof was the biggest. For that reason i give Mercedes a job well done overall with the car, the only cars I see truly rivaling this car is a 2020 Bentley or Rolls Royce. ANd that is a statement in its self because they both start over $200k, where people go wrong is they believe the cars rivals are the 8 series BMW or the Lexus LC500 which aren't even in the same class.

      Thanks for watching the video, I appreciate your perspective. Now focusing on your comment I believe you closed your mind to the purpose of the video, but we all have opinions. As a content creator you never know which videos will take off like wild fire or hold a long term presence. I made several videos about my ownership of the S550 coupe even a few that I took down for copyright reasons that were more detailed POVs with the actual car. So every video doesn't look the same and become identical you tend to focus on the topic more as time goes on. I owned the S550 for 3 years, I made this video after owning the car for 2 years 4 mos. The video was created in response to a question asked by one of my viewers, which is the foundation of ICNV Drivers Edition. When you join the community, you become part of an interactive community which means I do my best to personally respond to every comment or question asked and if the topic is interesting i may make a video on it. That's what happened here! I was asked by a viewer looking to buy one what I loved about the car and what I hated about the car, so I made a video and shared it with the community. If you would've been a follower of the channel or this wasn't the first S550 video you watched from me you may have seen more detailed footage of the car and options on it. But again thank you for watching the video and sharing your opinion!!!

      @@raycroal I completely understand, and that's why i tried to be transparent. When you own a car it's hard to continuously make content on the car and come up with new ways to keep presenting different views of it to make it look fresh and appealing to repeat viewers. What I've learned over the past few years is most of your viewers (86%) are repeat watchers, with less than 10% being first time viewers. So you get the repeat viewers because they build a connection with you and your content; certain topics most viewers are more concerned with the information than the back ground images. That's why you can see a content creator talk about certain topics and use the same background image with a few if any changes and still get 26k or more views. People are more concerned about the information being discussed than the actual product. I'm still growing but I do get a lot of comments and questions from the people that watch my channel which makes up almost 60% of my videos. And just like them, I appreciate your feedback and value your opinion. I took it as constructive criticism and will use that information as I move forward to create more entertaining content. Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback.

    Every single one of your 5 dislikes of the S550 coupe are RIDICULOUSLY MINUTE , starting with your 1st diliske which was #5 moving in reverse 4, 3, 2 and last being 1..so #5 the size being too big and then the poor choice in using the Corvette as an comparison was terrible . First off the Vette is extremely lighter in weight plus is rear seat deleted where the S550 is haveier and has rear seats hence being a longer car for some comortability.
    #4 the looks comparison of the C 400 Series Coupe to the S 550 Coupe look NOTHING ALIKE Stevie Wonder can tell the difference between the two. Now if you said the E 450 Coupe Series looks some what alike the S550 Coupe YES ID AGREE 👍 100% Those two Mercedes Benz Series look alike especially size wise .
    #3 The steering ehh im not so dissapointed and i feel its too picky. One must leave things to be enhance / changed for the following years to come that are small in detail before the entire Body Style is altogether changed which i believe usually is every 5 years ..
    #2 The Panoramic Glass Roof not opening i agree should open as well BUT do keep in mind Mercedes-Benz made up for the Air flow by permitting the rear windows to be lowered completely unlike other Vehicle Manufacturers stopping midway for saftey reasons i believe. 🤷
    So alltogether after listening to your list of dislike in Regards to the Mercedes-Benz S550 Coupe which is a Dream car ofvmine id buy it , BUT after listening to other S550 ownwrs Coupe or Sedans Brake Jobs , or any Engines Mantainamence expenses are far from usual or cheap especially if done by Dealerships. Thank you for your review though. Good luck with your S550 Coupe for they do turn my head. Gorgeous car❤👍🙏

      lol, thanks for the taking the time to respond, I made this video well over 3 years ago but I'm sure somewhere before I listed my don't likes I stated I absolutely love the car and its hard to find anything to complain about but if i must this is what I'd say. So in some aspects, most of my complaints would be outrageous and the LITTLE things that annoy me. Its a big coupe and I wasn't expecting it to feel and be so big when you look at the limited rear seat passenger space. Having 450hp and comparing it to the corvette was fair because I owned both and my comparison was the way it handles the speed. The corvette is highly praised for having Mag ride which many people say makes it feel like driving a cadillac or mercedes in comfort mode, I disagree but at the same time a german car reviewer stated putting the S550 in sports mode made it handle just as good as any typical sports car. I don't believe a $150k car should be just as good as a base stock mustang.... that's falling short on the expectation bar to me. To any real car enthusiast or mercedes lover like your self you can tell a S550 from other models at least a block away, to the everyday person it's not a big enough distinction from the C class coupe. My wife drove the car more than me and she would get it confused at times, I would go to car shows and people would ask if I'm driving the C Coupe AMG trying to figure out why it was bigger. I stated the C class as a reference because it was literally what most people called it. The steering wheel controls and operating system of the car sucked because it was to engaging to control certain things, it was an over thought out system. Styling is personal choice and truthfully i settled on the interior design to get my hands on a car quicker so that was a personal touch but that roof was my only real complaint with the car, it should open and it not opening quickly made me fall out of love with it. Driving many convertibles and the CL 500 prior having the back window come down and creating a huge open area wasn't a new concept for me especially since in both cases I could open the roof, so not being able to open that roof was a big turn off. But again I still love that car and having the C8 convertible makes me look at it different because when I want to be isolated from the outside world but ride in luxury its the best budget option out their.
