tbh i feel like colony stands exist because the user wanting to change something about the world dragona wanting to change their body but also the life of their mother keicho wanting to cure his father rissotto wanting to change passione etc.
I see where you're coming from, but characters like Giorno wanted to change passione too, and in terms of symbolism there's not the most direct connection between making a general cluster instead of a single body and just the concept of change, so I feel like it would be something a bit more specific
@@bladeofthegrassIn Purple Haze Feedback (which isn’t written by Araki, but it is interesting), colony stands are described as the result of the user feeling incomplete and not being able to make up their minds about themselves. This is why the Stand is split in multiple parts, which would fit Dragona, Risotto and Keicho, but less so Mista… But still interesting to think about
Mista's differs from the rest of the colony stands if it counts though. Normally, each 'type' within the colony has a general design they all kind of share, putting less of an emphasis on each individual member, but each member of Mista's stand has a specific label and personality. So if Mista has one key difference, or his stand represents something else that just happens to make it similar to colonies, it could still totally hold up. I personally didn't feel like PHF tried to match the overall world and core of Jojo's as much as it focused on replicating a lot of the atmosphere and being a really good story. Each part, with its setting, themes, continuity additions and time of being written usually introduces a bit of a different style, but PHF gave off the feeling that it wanted to tell a very specific story and just had to fill in a few unclear details from the source material every now and then with something to stay on track. But PHF is awesome, and that colony idea (or in some context) could totally be true. I interpreted colony stands as being something given to people who found power in isolating or distancing themselves (or at least in some social or partial way), like people who end up feeling the need to be solely responsible and carry those around them (like Dragona and Keicho), or people finding themselves through more extreme loneliness like Shigechi. By contrast, Mista never dehumanized or devalued himself when living in his specific way, so it would fit how the individual members of his stand were given distinct identities and strong personalities. It would also line up more with how stands are typically where the person lies within their approach to solving problems, so people with multiple stand bodies could have to fill in roles for themselves that other people are supposed to. Regardless, colony stands (and I would've said automatic before that second half of Jojolion) are super underused, and I'm really glad that the author decided to have a majorly different type of stand for each of the initial team members in part 9.
Under-rated video, absolutely loved it! Usagi is my favorite character in Part 9 (so far), and the speculation and thoughts on how Usagi might end up were a joy to watch
I think I cracked the code on what Matte Kudasai can do regarding the recent chapter. - When transforming by merging with a second object, it can manipulate their functions. Like how a hacker can "overide" technology. Example, cameras and the Cats wires. - Usagi can have it transform into objects even if they're not near or even present, given with the straw. But its possible, he has to understand the functionality of how they work. Much like Giorno had encyclopedia knowledge on animals, but its Usagi having technological knowledge. - Matte Kudasai can also ADD objects to its transformations. After turning into a straw, Usagi was able to add rim lights for Charmingman to see after he asked for them. Basically he could make for some cool transformation combos as well. - I think later down the line, Usagi will find a better loophole for his Stand, but when things are getting serious. Cuz remember how Giorno was the new guy? Well he kept his stand ability practically a secret, up until he and his team defected from Passione. I think a similar situation will happen, but perhaps he and his team will be labeled as ecoterrorists by Howler for parallels. And when that happens, Usagi will have to actually USE his stand!
Thanks! The next video I make might be a bit of a stretch, but I'm hoping to cover how I thought the spin would be connected to equivalent exchange and might return in this part. It would be very connected to parts 7 and 8 though.
4:34 Is this map available anywhere for access? Btw, I've recently grown to be a big fan of your analysis. You give a lot of in-depth and really interesting insights into JJBA. Love your videos, and also love reading your replies in the comment section!
Thanks so much! The map isn't exactly consistent (since it was mostly made to get the overall idea of stands across to some friends who had never seen the show before), so some of the examples in the top and bottom sections were more hypothetical and every entry was still sort of a placeholder, but I can just drop the image on the Discord if you want to see the full thing.
Sorry for the word count... It was mostly just the emphasis the part put on his intellect. On top of being one of the group strategists and going to college at an early age, he seemed generally more aware of the situations he was put into (which would be part of why he was one of the strategists, able to get into college early, and so stressed during his upbringing). Whereas Narancia, Abbacchio and Mista were all somewhat aimless when Bucciarati approached them, Fugo was only being held back by his emotional troubles, and had actively been trying to get by despite them. Bucciarati even appealed to him by presenting a rational offer that would reward Fugo for using his emotions, instead of a vague idea of subservience that the others took comfort in using as an excuse to not feel as responsible for their futures. By the time Giorno met them, Abbacchio, Narancia and Mista were all fine with their jobs and didn’t think further about the consequences of Passione. However, Fugo was shown to care for the wellbeing of random kids like Narancia, and the frustration from his over-awareness was even played for laughs all the way to the part’s final chapter, so it’s likely that he understood what his group was contributing to and troubled by it (at least to some extent) like Giorno and Bucciarati were. What kept him from doing anything about it, and probably why Bucciarati never let him in on the plan (since he seemed to trust and rely on Fugo’s judgment normally), was that Fugo always felt overwhelmed and hopeless, from having had his awareness since an age before he could handle it. Once he got them on board with something, whether him or the plan, Giorno’s interactions with the rest of the group (Trish included) always felt like he was looking for the way to pacify or “babysit” them in some capacity. It just seemed that if Fugo had stayed, Giorno’s moments with him would have been attempts to get him more confident and share common ground, as opposed to approaching him like a machine to manipulate.
It was very hastily made, but the full image shows up at around 0:14 in my latest video. I could send the image over Discord with extra context if you'd prefer
For sure! It was mostly me throwing something at the wall, so I didn't put much, but this was what I wrote: [Frame by Frame] (Bulky projector box that strobes light in a rectangular area) [Text Box 1] -Determines the actions taken by whatever is captured in the light from the projector (that box) for the next 5-10 seconds [Text Box 2] -'I dunno, think of a strobe effect like that thing in the movie 9' -'maybe it has to keep being wound and have direct exposure to work' At the time, I was kind of working on one of these events that I hold for friends where I throw together a custom game (or mod) based on some series I was watching, and I have them complete challenges. After chapter 1 came out, I was familiar with the location so I thought there was enough material to make something, and one of the stands I was designing for a player was supposed to be able to store light and then glow from it, baking its power's effect into whatever surfaces get exposed to enough of the light. When chapter 2 released, everything sort of fit together, so even if it doesn't really work naturally for a stand, Frame by Frame was just what happened to come to mind, and I was just enthusiastic about more King Crimson mechanics.
@@bladeofthegrass oh I see now! Yeah that would work considering I did have an idea that Usagi could perhaps obtain a recorder to capture any of the wishes his team makes and use it with The Mattekudasai to make it more accessable without a partner. Cuz when you think about it King Crimson needed two abilities to work and I agree that MatteKudasai would later obtain a second ability to make its wish granting more useful if Usagi ever had to be put into a fight solo.
Stands like the Sun or Bastet, where they can be distinct separate objects (unlike Sky High which clings to the user's arm and is worn like a piece of clothing), but they don't have much of a direct range of motion. They're just a slightly more extreme version of the physically weak but long-range stands, since the stand lacks the physical features to even really move at all itself, but in turn has some kind of ability that functions through it. Dragon's Dream is another example, but the corresponding traits manifested in more of a contextual sense than clearer cases (like the Sun, Bastet, Survivor, Manhattan Transfer).

this is what i’ve been wanting with Jojolands! real actual discussion thank you for this
How does this video have only 34 views? This is amazing. Keep going bro!
Thanks so much!
I swear if Usagi's dies in someway or another, dunno why do i just have the feeling that it could resemble Abbachio's death somewhat
Man this stand has a lot of *discipline*
so glad i discovered ur channel! , love the analysis of themes and araki's writing ,please do more (on part 7 or 8?)

really good look at matte kudasai, super helpful man
I love these videos dude really great work! Can I ask, what makes you say that fugo sees things the same way as giorno?

great video bro, hope to see more from you

maybe usage is neuro-diverse?
personally i think isagi's dumbass cant conjure up another image of whatever object is in front of him (im on chapter 5)
Do you think you can type out the second ability idea for Usagi? I want to read the description of it, but its too small to read.

Kinda out if topic but, what is exactly a conduit type of stand?
Stands like the Sun or Bastet, where they can be distinct separate objects (unlike Sky High which clings to the user's arm and is worn like a piece of clothing), but they don't have much of a direct range of motion.
