Real life inspiration of the in game nation and random details because I love this : Aegir is the equivalent of real life fantasy of Atlantis and Lovecraft Country, a nation under the oceans ruled by sea people. Most Aegir borned character in the game sees the lands as inferior compared to their ultra development technology. Although it's mostly inspired from fantasy, the politic and hierarchy seems to also corrolate with Ancient Roma. Most Aegirs have fled their nation because of the sea borns, a form of (mostly) non intelligent species from the seas too that forms a giant hive that preys on pretty much everything. You rarely encounter Aegirs borns in the game as most of them were born in Iberia and Higashi after their ancestors fled. Bolivar is the nation taking inspiration from South America and Latino cultures. The predominant race are Perro which is Spanish for dogs. The Dossoles city is also a clear reference to Rio de Janeiro with a statue that ressembles the Christ The Redeemer. The in game language from this country seems to be inspired by Chilean and Mexico. Dossoles is considered neutral ground for fantasy luxuries because the rest of the country is pretty much constantly at civil War and none of them wants this little paradise to dissappear, so they prefer to savour in it. Victoria is inspired from the United Kingdom (their in game capital is even called Londinium). Despite the rulers being Aslans (Lions) and Draco, most of Victoria is actually made of Feline (cats, smol and big except lions). But characters that shows Scottish/Irish inspiration tends to be Vouivres (reptiles, smaller dragons). The in game country has a lot of real life inspiration going to it's history of colonisation and slavery of many races. Although the country was ruled by both Aslan and Draco in ancient times, nowadays the supporters of Aslan have shows acts of extreme racism to Tarans (Feline that supports Draco for the Throne). Current the country is plagued by civil war between those two groups. Iberia is inspired by Spain with in game characters even speaking Spanish and having (somewhat) Spanish accent in the eng dub, but it is also obviously inspired by the Iberian Peninsula. Most Iberians are Liberi, the bird race but because a big portion of Aegirs fled to this country, many are also Aegirs (both deep sea and surface animals ranging from Pingouins to Urchins). Because the nation was ruined by the sea borns from the sea, the original Iberians shows extreme discrimination on the Aegirs that immigrated here. Often looking down on them and even "arresting" them to use them for lab experiences. It got to the point where they would use them as scapegoat to find an excuse to try to exterminate them which ended with them being karma-d because the greatest inventors in the country were Aegirs and thus, they couldn't even use their own technology correctly anymore. Nowadays there's still a lot of mysteries surrounding this country and it's personally one I enjoy the storyline the most. Columbia is obviously inspired by Lady Columbia, the personnification of the United States. A lot of the countries history is inspired from it's real life counterpart first with most of it's population being Liberi, because most of the settlers were Spanish and also because independent from Victoria's colonisation like with England. The bird race being prominent could also be a reference to the U.S importance to freedom. Although the country also very diverse with many races inhabiting it. But while it looks like the infected are treated okay-ish, most of them actually have to go through hours of labour and forced works to gains rights. A lot of them are also forced to join the Pioneers that are often used as test subject for big scientist and tech firms. The country is also known to bite more than it can chew, building nomadic cities that they aren't able to actually care for and are mostly all out of use very rapidly. Higashi is the country inspired by real life Japan (and a little bit of both Korea). All of the Japanese race characters like the Oni, comes from here. Shinto and Buddhism actually exist as in-game religions here. Unfortunately there's really not a lot that is known about this nation. Unlike most of the other countries, Higashi is the only one that hasn't gotten it's own storyline yet through side stories. Kazdel is inspired by a lot of European empires and religion (notably Jewish), but most people agrees to settle on Germany. They have an actual in game clothing brand (Marthe) that is a reference to Adidas ! 99% of the somewhat population of Kazdel are Sarkaz and all Sarkaz are from Kazdel. To not enter spoiler territory, the Sarkaz people were greatly feared in the past because of their power and until now, they are the race that are the most discriminated, sometimes even being treated worse than infected. But although most of the world hates them, Kazdel was actually mostly destroyed by it's people who are not capable to trust and work with each other. Sarkaz(demons) and Sankta(angels) are deeply connected also in their faith. But compared to Sanktas, Sarkaz just can't get along. Sarkaz are also more prone to get infected but they also get the most power up from it in terms of arts strength. Most Sarkaz aren't even aware of being infected, treating it as something normal for them. Laterano inspired from Vatican. They have a strong sense of faith and rules and is also ruled by a Pope. Most in game countries even find the law in Laterano to be out of bound. Just like how Kazdel is the home of Sarkaz, Laterano is the home to Sankta. This race in particular has a very close affiliation to firearms and all citizen of the country can get one after they obtain their license. But funnily enough, the symbol of the country is actually birds! There's also many Liberi who lives here (this is a reference to angel's wings having feathers, like birds), but they aren't exactly treated as equals to Sankta and many tries to change that. This country is very strict about rules. If you don't respect them (no matter how small and insignificant they are), you will be chased down even if you are out of the country. Infected have the same rights as the rest of the population but are banned forever from the country in exchange. (Obviously there's a lot of conflict about Laterano and Kazdel and more precisely their predominant races but that would enter spoiler territory so just play the game) Kjerag is named after a Norwegian mountain but the atmosphere, races, and weapon are clearly inspered from Tibetan Himalaya (also another mostly snow country like Switzerland ! Cheese fondue is mentioned as one of their dishes). There really isn't a lot that is known about them except the fact that they fully embrace tradition which in exchange makes them one of the least advanced country in Terra. The goddess they worship, Kjeragandr is implied to protect the nation from any kind of catastrophe as none have ever been recorded to strike within its borders. (most of this country's story is very spoilery so just play the game) Unlike what many would think, Leithanien is actually inspired from most German speaking country in history such as ancient german, Austria-Hungary and even a bit of Switzerland. It is one of the nation with the most in-game languages terms (all German). You could probably fill an entire book just listing all the German words they throw around in one of it's focus event. Most of the population is made of Caprinae but also just any races with horns like deers (Elafias) outside of the usual goats and sheeps. While infected aren't related horribly, they are still prohibited from leaving their forced neighborhoods. If their infection is considered too severe, they are also forced to be euthanized. While from the outside, the country seems to be a paradise for artistic and academic folks, the country is also plagued by imminent Civil War between the cults that still supports the Witch King and the currents forces of the Empress'. Also the parity between the noble and common folks is very big. (I didn't plan to write so much lmao I'll finish later)
Yeah, and I'll add, that the "recently" dead nation of Gaul is obviously inspired by ... France, With the era of Napoleon the first for the "erase the nation" part, (with the multiple Coalitions of European countries to stop him and potential revolutions) (It's based on the 1st Empire of France with some elements of the Roman one) The help against the Leithanien arts, is surely a reference for the 2 WW (WW1&2) And ... that's it. We don't have much information about the dead nation of Gaul in the game, just that it was between Victoria, Ursus and Leithanien (and maybe Kazimierz) The Liberis and the Lingons was maybe the predominant races of Gaul : the Lingons was stated being one of the various races, and gived their name for the ancient capital, Lingones (in Leithanien today, in the game), and it was a monarchy ruled by a Dynasty/Family of Liberi After the destroing of Gaul, there was a great diaspora in various settlements, in various countries, and in these gaulish communities, there is a fermentation of Gaulish restorationism, meaning that they want to "reborn" the nation of Gaul, but those movements who wanted to restore Gaulish sovereinty are purged, especially in Victoria, where Gauslish communities are constantely purged, and thus, became kinda like the Sarkaz, "homeless", and left without a relatively peaceful (and developping) country, and without the certainty that their home will be destroyed
One of the things I'm most interested in is a future series talking about each nation and the operators that make it up. As well as these dissident groups that are there. And why not? The subject of the crown, because lately many characters have appeared with that black crown.
Lore videos or summary or similar content is very helpful, i personally more interested in it than gameplay nowadays. You used Kal as thumbnail definitely subbed and im definitely not a Kalsimp.
Really good overlook as someone who has been part of the global game since the release week, I heavily enjoy the lore and story events these past few years. Always thought of making something similar, since I absolutely love talking about all of this. Am excited for the next few releases!
5:25 That is the Shahanshah of Sargon, not a Padishah. 6:13 No, you did not. 7:21 As of Episode 13: The Whirlpool That Is Passion, no Duke has explicit plans in taking the Victorian throne for themselves. Thank you for this introduction video. Hopefully you can fill the vacuum in explaining the ever expansing lore of Arknights.
Oh wow. As someone who just made it to Victoria in the main story, its nice to actually SEE where everything is in relation to each other. Especially with the elevendy billion event stories ive seen so far
great work work on compiling the lore. it's also clear that you made an effort to talk in a formal and calm manner. unfortunately that led to awkward pauses at unexpected times that make this hard to listen to.
This is like highly needed for all new players, it took me until like chapter 5 to realise what the hell landships are and infected, its really difficult to understand
I want to learn more about the lore of Arknights, but it seems so dense and hidden behind walls of text that, for a beginner like me, it feels like a medium that's difficult to consume, limited to just one form (reading) and time-consuming. I liked how your video presented 3D images, along with conceptual art of official locations and characters. Keep up the great work; I really enjoyed it!
In my opinion. Everything in terra is like a drawing made by the Ancestor or Doctor (since hes the last kind) If doctor wasnt amnesia he wouldnt be very surprised or shocked about everything in terra. And he wouldve handle things easily and aware of its capabilities. Like the portal, collapsal, the law, originium, sarkaz crown, etc
Nice video. Hope this series continues and will become an ultimate answer when it comes to basic lore questions/introduction. Though I think the structure overall could be improved. More precisely, here I mean what to mention and what to not (and in which order) when you, for example, describing a country. Like, I think it would be more natural to mention Victoria - Columbia - Bolivar in this order, rather than opposite. Like "here is Victoria, a Columbia is gained independence from Victoria, a Bolivar is bordering and heavily influenced by Columbia". I see that you decided to go from east to west, but that might not be the best flowing order. Another thing is mention of Foehn Hotlands bordering Sargon, leaving it just like that without context until very end. The thing that accompanies it is issues with deciphering what you saying. It is not a critique of your pronunciation, it is just - it will be much better to have subtitles to such series of videos, with it's specific names and terminology. Showing just a single problematic word in question as a text may not be enough in every case. Other than that - really happy to see such kind of videos.
I'd put Aegir somewhat closer to Iberia since the crew find the Stultifera Navis off the coast of Iberia and the ship sinks in the vicinity of a Aegirian city. Also, Aegir being close to Iberia would explain the higher number of land dwelling Aegir in Iberia. Also, if you want to deep dive, Aegirs seem to hear the "voice of the sea" more frequently around Iberia (Skadi in Under Tides and Thorns in Heart of Surging Flame) Edit: Nvm it is, the map ist just tilted, still leaving the comment here for engagement
This is what make us love arknights fr, the simplicity about it, the cruel but hopeful fate of the world, the gloam feeling of true enemies waiting in it's slumber. I can't wait for more of these videos! please keep it up
I dont know about telling people that Originium Arts basically magic is a good thing or not since magic does exist in Terra and its not Originium Arts. Well since its still the first video of your project i guess its okay..., i hope there will be a specific video stating the true nature of Originium and its application. I will be watching you guys, good luck with the project. I really hope your project will be my future reference for me to share if someone interested in Arknights.
Apart from you butchering half of the names, the video is really good and concise!) I like that everything you talk about is also shown on the map and animated.
That was very helpful and educational to me since I miss like 95% info about the nations in terra since I just started to play it again after such a long time
It is worth noting that not all arts orignium arts. Certain subspecies like the Pegasus and Dracos got their own racial arts that they can use even without implements or being infected.
Great working with you guys, I had fun making 3D models and coordinate the other people in the animation team
This was an absolute beast of a video, thank you all for your enormous work!
The official pronunciation of Kjerag and Kjeragandr can be found in the Rides to Lake Silberneherze trailer.
there's also a polish guy i believe who made a site with all the pronouncing of polish words in ak, but god i forgot it

Hopeful this channel will remain alive unlike the rest of my lore storyteller are now ded sadly.
great work work on compiling the lore.
it's also clear that you made an effort to talk in a formal and calm manner.
unfortunately that led to awkward pauses at unexpected times that make this hard to listen to.
This is like highly needed for all new players, it took me until like chapter 5 to realise what the hell landships are and infected, its really difficult to understand
You have a soothing voice to listen to in the background

I want to learn more about the lore of Arknights, but it seems so dense and hidden behind walls of text that, for a beginner like me, it feels like a medium that's difficult to consume, limited to just one form (reading) and time-consuming. I liked how your video presented 3D images, along with conceptual art of official locations and characters. Keep up the great work; I really enjoyed it!
Never think I would need this, but here I am :D. Great lore video.

In my opinion. Everything in terra is like a drawing made by the Ancestor or Doctor (since hes the last kind)
If doctor wasnt amnesia he wouldnt be very surprised or shocked about everything in terra. And he wouldve handle things easily and aware of its capabilities.
Like the portal, collapsal, the law, originium, sarkaz crown, etc
Very excited to see where you guys take this!
Queen KAAAAL'TSIT= 1000% Of our lore material. A living history book.
Hell yeah brother, we need more lore
I love how in Terra, if you go too high you meet Eldritch Horrors from the Sky, and if you go too low you mmet Eldritch Horrors from the Deep.
Nice video. Hope this series continues and will become an ultimate answer when it comes to basic lore questions/introduction.
Though I think the structure overall could be improved. More precisely, here I mean what to mention and what to not (and in which order) when you, for example, describing a country.

Another thing is mention of Foehn Hotlands bordering Sargon, leaving it just like that without context until very end.
The thing that accompanies it is issues with deciphering what you saying.
