You picked the right video to voice over a reddit post about an Australian since this baker is Australian and dose many Australian themed cakes.
Thankyou so much for crediting the original creator of the content, i see so many times where these aita videos will have someone elses video with the aita audio and the baker is not credited
I watch her channel and she does have a lot of nice content 😊
How it this 10 days ago
Still shouldn’t use someone else’s videos. Lazy
She was embarrassed for being rude like “how would you know”
EXACTLY
Also she sounds dumb
How dare he still a tigga Mac video
Yepp. Pretty sure that's it. It would all have been fine, if she wasn't rude before that.
Ya, nothing OP said was rude.
NTA. She was ignorant and you educated her. She Assumed she was correct and needed the correction.
It would have been a lot worse if u didn’t warn her
Unfortunately, she was completely correct. And he was thoroughly incorrect... I am from New Zealand the country right next door to Australia. We have a lot of Australians come here. And not only do they refer to their home country as Ozzy. so the person in this story doesn't know what the f*** they're talking about. been away from the country for far too long. They've forgotten too much.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 ... Go to a Rugby game and you will hear Ozzy ozzy ozzy oy. Oy. Oy.😂😂😂😂... Sorry, but this isn't even a joke. The person is actually incorrect
@@p2thejay1 Not from Australia but this sounds very suspect.
@@p2thejay1 actually no it's Aussie Aussie Aussie OY OY OY. Aussie is how they refer to the people or an Australian. Not Ozzy. They do not call it Ozzy ffs. They do however refer the country Australia itself as Oz. You might be a Kiwi but you are not living with or talking to an Australian on a daily bases who has been a friend for years and just came back from their home. He is laughing himself sick right now over how you said that.
@rebeccamiller3248 I love how you made an assumption about my living. That just shows you are a d******I live with an Australian, you moron.
And they are the ones that ager with me on this and confirmed my message before I commented...ozzy is Slang Also known as shorthand because when you say it it sounds like australia Well that's what i've always been told and it makes sense And for the first time ever I looked it up To see what the internet says ...
The word Australia when referred to informally with its first three letters becomes Aus. When Aus or Aussie, the short form for an Australian, is pronounced for fun with a hissing sound at the end, it sounds as though the word being pronounced has the spelling Ozzy ....hahahahaha 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆
U helped her to not be roasted by locals
Facts, and austrailians are filterless, they will insult you and not give a damn about your feelings 😂😂
Exactly like imagine going there and saying, "I can't wait to go to Aussie" 💀
I would actually be pissed (as an Australian) and prob insult the flying fuck outta her if she kept doing it to my face after someone corrected her.
How dare he still a tigga Mac video
Realistically they merely delayed her roasting, there is bound to be something else they will roast her for.
She won't survive in Australia with that fragile heart.
She really wouldn’t a day to a week here and we would of probably mocked and berated her so bad she’d be crying that she hates us and wants to go home
And considering how deadly the wildlife is in Australia 😢😢
@@thegamemoviewatcher8917 it’s not even that bad, sure we have deadly/dangerous animals but if you just stay in populated areas you’re not likely to encounter any
@@s0up_1223How bad are the bugs in Australia during summer?
@@ixiepeach6787depends where you are lol. Pretty much all the houses have fly screen (wire over the windows to prevent bugs from getting in) where I live
NTA. I too am fed up with people who attack you for kindly correcting them. I see so many mistakes that need correcting yet when you try to kindly correct them they fly at you. I know, why would it matter? Because correct information and facts always matter, we can't just make things up or act cringe or wrongly and expect it to be acceptable and good enough
The problem is the correction itself is not correct. Ozzy is quite literally slang. Short for Australia. Australian things and Australian people.... I quite literally live in the country right next door to Australia.
I have been to australian have friends that are From ozzy and yes we all refer to australia as ozzy ... When I got off the plane I was Greeted with welcome to Ozzy from an Australian.😂😂😂😂😂 ...
@p2thejay1 don't think they spelled the same way. Please correct me if I'm wrong but aren't there 2 words? One like you said n one like OP said in the story? N aren't they spelled differently? And sound a little differently? Again please correct if I'm wrong.
Agreed
@p2thejay1
You sound weird because I know it as Aussie pronounced (Aw•see) and not Ozzy. And, I too only know Aussie as referring to a person from Australia. Now, you live next door to Australia and the OP is literally born and raised in Australia and here you are saying she's wrong when you sound like you're talking about Ozzy Osbourne.
@@joseperez8404
The person is a liar. They don't know what they are talking about.
LMFAO "I CAN'T WAIT TO GO TO AUSSIE" I'M DEAD
😂😂
Honestly I don't think it's even a stereotype, but more of Ella being a complete idiot in not know the difference between the name of a country and the name for something or someone from said country
REALLL
Maybe what she meant to say was that she couldn't wait to get into an Aussie.
In NZ we ALL call it Aussie, e.g "I'm going to Aussie for the weekend". But that's our special name, nobody else can use it haha.
Imagine 30-year-olds acting like they're in Middle School. What the hell? She made a mistake. She was corrected by someone from that country and she was so butt hurt. She had to leave a party and make her boyfriend confront the person who corrected her. 10,000 red flags.
How dare he still a tigga Mac video
Question, what is middle school, I don't get the American school system, in AuSsIe we just have primary school and high school...
@@idkanymorelol7445
- In America, Middle School is between Elementary school (might be called primary for you?) and high school, hence the name. It's mostly used to transition from the semi-easy lessons of elementary school to prepare you for high school. Middle school continues after Elementary school which is;
- pre-K (Pre-Kindergarten; from the ages 3-4 to prepare them for actual school).
- Kindergarten (which teaches pretty much how to function as a human, it’s typically 5-6-year-olds, there's a certain age requirement for Pre-K and Kindergarten, it’s different in every place)
- 1st Grade (this starts the actual subjects like Math, Reading, Art, Etc, typically 6-7 years old).
- 2nd Grade (this continues the lessons but makes it slightly harder in order to test your brain, 7-8-year-olds).
- 3rd Grade (8-9-year-olds, typically in elementary school you have the same teachers from what i’ve seen, the subject and the lessons you learn just get harder with each grade).
- 4th Grade (9-10-year-olds).
- 5th Grade (10-11-year-olds, this is the year before you enter middle school. This is the year you graduate from Elementary school, some schools have Elementary and Middle mixed in so you don't really have to go to a whole new school to start Middle school).
- Now, we move on to middle school, Middle School only consists of three years;
- 6th Grade (11-12, this is your first introduction to the middle school curriculum, it's typically the same classes as Elementary school but on a maybe semi-higher level, it continues the lessons you learned in Elementary school but makes it harder, Introduce new terms, New methods, etc)
- 7th Grade (12-13 years old, this is typically the period when your now used to middle school, you’ve changed from your elementary self ‘ matured.’ , the classes are harder, the subjects have changed, etc)
- 8th Grade, (13-14 years old, this is the last year when you graduate before high school, typically the hardest of middle school, a lot of things happen in the last year, preparation for graduation, recitals, dances, etc.)
- That is all that it typically is, I’m sure you know what high school is but if it's different for you, in American High schools; 9th Grade (Freshman), 10th Grade (Sophomores), 11th Grade (Juniors), 12th (Seniors) and then you graduate and move onto College.
I hope that helped your confusion, i’ll try my best to explain more if not.’ 🫶✨
@@nakeshiawhitlock1992 omg thank you sm, in Australia primary school is kindergarten to year six and then high school is years 7-12, damn the american school system is confusing af, thanks for explaining 💞
@@idkanymorelol7445 haha, of course!! I think they thought expanding the classes more would make it less hard on the kid? but i’m not sure, i’m currently in 10th grade so I can't really answer much on the upper levels of highschool!! I’m glad it helped! 🫶✨
That’s like saying “I can’t wait to go to american” like it doesn’t work
Ikr and if op didn’t correct her someone else would have and it would have been more embarrassing
NTA, if she could not handle a little bit of correction then I doubt she could handle the embarrassment of being laughed out of the country by a group of eshays.
Fun fact, the word she was looking for to describe Australia in slang is just "Oz" and if used in a sentence it can be used as "How long have you been away from Oz for?
Been away from Oz since the wizard died
NTA. You kindly let her know of her inaccuracy. She responded in an insecure manner. You did her a kindness and she let you know she is too insecure she took it as if you were making fun of her.
You don't end a sentence with "for" or any other preposition or conjunction. The question is correct by just leaving that off.
@@annamineer2521you do in australian slang
NTA. You did her a favour by saving her from future embarrassment. She should thank you.
Agreed
There is no way she isn’t going to get embarrassed when visiting Australia. Too fragile for the types of jokes and attitude towards tourists
No No the OP did us Assies a favour
In Denmark, we would laugh our a$$' of, if she refered Denmark as Danish 😂😂😂😂
Haha
😂😂😂😂😂
I wanna go to Danish so bad, totally the top of my travel list!
@@maysee2515 you can easily do that by visiting a local bakery...clever
Exactly! Like, no honey, it’s Denmark.😂
He did her a favor because most Australians I know have no filter lol Berated is an understatement!
Honestly, you really did help her because in Australia, especially in australia. We have no Let's not say that to them. We just Let it rip. So honestly you saying it compared to 40 others laughing at her Is way better.
Dude I would have lost it if she said that infront of me 😭
Right.😂😂😂😂 I have never known Australians to spare feelings.
People need to remember we Aussies call people we like our best friends madcunts. She wouldn't just get laughed at she would be roasted in the kindest possible ozzy way.
Yeah we don’t spare feeling fuck feelings you insult us your probably gonna be crying
She'd be told to wait by her bins for the garbo and to try the gecko egg sushi 😂😂😂😂😂
Nothing wrong with that. My friend and I were flying to Cairns to go to the Great Barrier Reef. We were pronouncing it, "Carnes" like the singer's Kim last name. Our shuttle driver mentioned , " by the way ladies, it pronounced, Cans". We laughed our butts off and and gave him a tip. Which we know is a no no, but he saved us from walking around sounding stupid. Thanks Mike!!!
Why is that a no no? I remember one Uber driver back then wouldn't take it, although we were driving around with him for ages, my Google research just showed me Australians saying you don't have to but you can. I don't really get it 😅 people here won't refuse money, but aren't really mad when you don't give them any l guess.
@raffa4456 Tipping is not part of the culture. We told him that not only did you lift our heavy ass bags, but you gave us great advice. Plus, we are Americans, we tip.
@@raffa4456yeah we Aussies love when people tip us especially if we managed to earn the tips like I told my brothers if they needed something they gotta pay up

Thanks 😅
😂
NTA, she didn’t know something and you helped her. She’s the a$$ for assuming you’re British and getting angry because you corrected her in 2 things you know more about.
Well said. Agreed.
I'm neither Australian nor British or Canadian. And even I know that an Aussie is a person. Does she live behind the moon?
No idea, I was very confused how she would think that as well. It's one thing if she had never heard of the country before somehow, but you would think that if she knew of it AND liked it enough to decide she really wanted to travel so bad that it was her first choice, then she should at least know the name of it.
@@maysee2515it’s cause they see it once on tik tok and make it their life goal
FR. Aussie is something related to something from the country...she lives under a rock
NTA. I'm an American, but if I heard someone say that they were going to American I'd definitely correct them. Especially if they kept doing it. The country you're from is not what you're referred as. If she doesn't know that, then bless her heart. Poor thing 😒🙄
Just fyi, Canadians don't like when people say I'm going to America which is a continent that Canada is also a part of. We prefer going to the US.
@@juliec5309Technically Canada is part of North America since North America and South America are distinct continents. Also the USA’s officially name is the United States of America so referring to it shorthand as America is correct. It’s always awkward to name a country similar to a continent but Australia is also guilty of that since the continent they’re on is also called Australia. I’ve never heard anyone lumping Canada and America together when speaking about America (as in the USA). If they did to refer to North America, they’d have to include Mexico any other territories. 😅
@@sakuratejinathat's why the shortened version is Aus for the country (sometimes continent) and then usually oceania for all the areas, Aus and other islands included.
@@sakuratejinaalso you're right
Most call the US as America (or US) to mean North America, Canada as Canada (or the specific city/place. Esp if big enough like Vancouver, Toronto, etc.)
Then South America for.. well, yeah, South America.
Then Mexico for Mexico and so forth
Sorry this was so long for basically agreeing with you
And what's funny is like Aussies, some Americans would absolutely not let her live that shit down and WILL make fun of and/or laugh at her expense lmao
Definitely not the bad guy. She was entitled. She should’ve thanked you for correcting her.
Love how they used an Australian cake decorator for the background footage
Yeah, I caught that right away.
I don't understand why people act like correcting mistakes is a bad thing
OP could have been way ruder. They could have said, "which Aussie are you talking about?" Or "As an Aussie, please don't visit me until you learn the difference between Aussie and Australia."
OP is NTA. The girlfriend is just embarrassed by her ignorance and the boyfriend is too.
Yeah we would have insulted her if she said that here
You have the right to defend your cultural identity even at the expense of exposing other people's ignorance.
Aussies are a lot of laugh, but when you piss them off, Good luck. XD

@@Anna_587Now the gf wasn’t being rude but she was being overly sensitive over a small correction
NTA, i've never been to Australia, but the numerous stories Ive heard of how brutally honest they are (not to mention i recently watched a clip from comedian Fluffy talking about his own experiences there) makes me think OP was def much more lax than what she wouldve been told if she actually made it there 😬
NTA, she was embarrassed for being caught being both wrong and rude
Because people (idiots) don’t like being told if their right or wrong about something
Next time call her by something else and when she corrected you Terri get what Justin said
Yeah I agree
Nah, that woulda annoyed me too and I'm not even Australian 💀

@@TerrificTetrisWell op didn’t say it in a mean way the gf needs to grow a pair
If people who were misinformed not corrected then the misinformation is spread.
You're not the bad guy like at all. She a gf should have known, and gf partner should have told her, and she wasn't being rude like at all. She needs to get new friends who actually care about others and other people's culture bc clearly those two don't.
The appropriate response when corrected is..Thank You, I appreciate that, as I’d hate to look like a Fool later on. 😅
YTA I can’t believe you saved her from letting the rest of us roast the ever loving shit out of her
NTA. You weren't rude about it, just said "FYI" & explained the difference. If I was making a mistake like that & someone told me I'd say "Oh, thanks for letting me know! If I ever get to go I wouldn't want to make that mistake in front of locals & have them thinking I was making fun of them or such."
Why do people get so upset over being wrong? I can't comprehend this. If I were in that situation I'd just be like "Oh I just thought it sounded cute saying it that way but I didn't mean to be disrespectful" and go on with life.
When someone corrects me i go "oh really?" And let them explain, if it sounds right or they source why they would know better then me. I say something dumb because im dumb like, "ooo, I'm learning!" 😃
lol! You are a true friend
Imagine leaving a party if someone corrects you and calling them a smartass
As an Aussie, I would die if somebody repeatedly called Australia "Aussie" 😂
I’d swear at them, laughing in their face, while telling them, how ******* stupid they are. Love ❤️ from an Aussie.
NTA, You saved her far, far much more embarrassment than she would have gotten. As an Aussie myself I know for a fact that if she'd said that while here she would have been roasted like a sunday lamb roast.
She ain’t gonna make it in Australia if that’s all it took to get to her
She wouldn’t have been embarrassed if she wasn’t rude about it.
"Better a 'smart ass' correction by me, than a local in Australia."
As an Australian I can confirm this lady probably saved that other lady from humiliation
as an australian i just know she would've gotten cooked so bad over here for using slang incorrectly 😭😭
Nta. As an Indian I can say if this would have been happened to me then dude I would had called that person name in every Indian lingo Ik
She should be thankful you corrected her.
She should be thankful she was saved from our wrath

As an Aussie, if she said “oh yeah I love being in Aussie it’s such a cool place” I woulda laughed in her face, NTA
You were actually pretty kind and just letting her know so she didn’t make that mistake anywhere else, they probably have a short temper or something your fine
That was like the most casual correction, I don’t know how you could have done that gentler???
People are way too sensitive. Correcting someone these days is like fighting bears. They grunt and roar after all you said was “whoa you’re a big fella”🤦🏾♂️
NTA. She did need correcting and it was a kindness since she was talking about going there. She should have considered herself lucky to have met you and grilled you for all the do's and don'ts in Australia. The best places to go. How to avoid those dangerous animals that Australia just harbors.
HEY thos “dangerous” animals are our beautiful friends and we love them especially the fuckin’ huntsman’s mate god having one of thos in your house is free fly patrol

NTA: Justin is just pissed that OP cockblocked him.
Why couldn’t she just say “oh, my mistake!” And just let it go? Why did she have to storm out and get the boyfriend involved since, obviously, it was her mistake
She was butt-hurt and rude, and that’s not OP’s fault. OP wasn’t doing anything bad, just helping her learn the correct way to use the term.
I love that you got an Australian creator video for the background.
The locals would have unmerilacley taken the piss and she wouldn't know what hit her.
Fun fact: the cake in this video was made by someone who lives in Australia
Nta, her fault that she made a mistake then verbally attacked op saying "oh well you're British how would you know"
Nta. She could've said 'oh sorry I didn't know' ans leave it at that. The fact she said and how would you know, proves that she thought she was superior than you.
If she'd done that in Aus THE PEOOLE WOULD HAVE SAID WAY WORSE TO HER 😂 this was a nice way of letting her know she was wrong
As someone who’s been to another country, I wouldn’t mind being kindly corrected by a local
if she was saying that in Australia, chances are she'd get into a street fight. especially in the rough areas.
NTA u literally just corrected her
I’m a fellow Aussie and I 100% agree with OP. If she called Australia “Aussie” she’d be laughed out of wherever she was. You could possibly have made the blow to her ego a little weaker by telling her what was actually call Straya, but that wouldn’t have done much to spare her pride.
I'm not even Australian and I know this. I also know when to ACCEPT A KIND CORRECTION.
NTA, you told her what was correct, and you weren’t rude about it.
She was probably just embarrassed so the bf tried to stick up for her, just making things worse.
I feel like she's only heard the word used once and decided she knew what it meant
Bro you were legit just correcting her. If she can't handle that, she shouldn't come to Australia
Nope. She messed up, then got embarassed. On the way home she probably browbeat her boyfriend for not standing up for her, which prompted him to address it in the group chat.
Some people can't handle being wrong
As an aussie I one hundred percent agree, she wouldve been smashed to peices if she'd called the country aussie, also she didnt have to react like "how would you know your british" she could just say "oh I thought it was to refer to the country in general, but i thought you were british? "
NTA. You tried being polite about the correction and just pointed out a common misconception she had
Getting upset over nothing seriously 😂
