The duel disks had different iterations in different series. In 5D's they are built-in these cool motorcycles, but it carries the danger of not having traffic designed to fit them(you can't just duel on a random alley like they did on the anime sometimes). The Zexal models use some kind of AR piece with them, which we can make work, although not to the extent that it works in the anime and one of the most interesting physical ones is the Arc-V ones, where it seems to double as a phone or be a device you put your phone in to see the game state in a more traditional way(there's the bonus that all the shuffling and searching is done automatically and if I;m not mistaken it's the only one to have a built-in extra deck compartment, bet they add to the complexity, because you would need a machine to shuffle the cards without damaging them and more projectors because the card holder system is also holographic). Vrains' model is just straight up VR/fully digital,so it's the most realistic,we need to design better VR sets and develop an intricate game world that will have all the animation work built-in and can be updated like a normal game. It's still expensive(hell,a triple A game costs millions of dollars to develop),but it's still way more accessible and doable than any of the other options while losing the flair of walking around with a white coat and a neat briefcase holding it as if you were Seto Kaiba himself(even though you can do that in the game if you want, but idk it just feels different doing that irl)
@stardust9470 Wow, thanks for the detailed breakdown! It’s fascinating to see how the Duel Disks evolved across the series. You’re right-each version has its unique quirks and challenges. I’m especially intrigued by the Arc-V and Vrains models, the 5ds motorcycle model were just a little on the crazy side, the requirement of a constant open runway is madness and lacks flexibility. Might just have to do a video exploring these different iterations and their real-world feasibility. Appreciate the insights!
Actually in 5D's there were three different types of Duel Disks, the normal standing ones, the ones inside Duel Runners/D-Wheels, and a hybrid kind that can do both, Yusei has a hybrid one.
Honestly I think the DSOD duel disk was the prototype for the ones seen in Zexal since both of them have those eye glass things on there heads
Kaiba has so much money that he sell duel disks at a loss. Microsoft has been doing that for over a decade with the Xbox and the company can just shrug it off.
@@FantasyFinance-hy6rp Kaiba built the original duel disk all by himself out of apparently spare parts found in his mansion. And Kaiba personally developed every duel disk until 5D's when he was dead.
So basically the final cost for the duel disc cost about the same as a car
@user-mu9ki8mw1y Pretty much! Who knew owning a Duel Disk could be as pricey as a new ride?
Not to mention that its not exactly discreet like a Rolex, good luck trying to protect that device outside. TBF I guess duel disk insurance would instantly become a thing
Thanks for watching!
I built a fully functional DM era duel disk out of cardboard, wooden sticks, rubber bands, and hot glue back in late 2018. Cost me about $20 total and 2hrs of patience.
Wow, @PURPLE_G0J0, that’s seriously impressive! A fully functional Duel Disk for just $20? That’s some next-level creativity and patience right there. You’re a true DIY master! Would love to see a tutorial or video on how you did it. Keep up the great work! 🎨🛠️
The closest to a realistic duel disk was ZeXal where they used AR instead of holograms.
At least for 14 seconds until they decided the AR pictures still injure the kids.
Haha, good point! The AR approach in ZeXal does seem like the most practical direction. It’s funny how the show had to dial back the realism for safety, i wonder if this was influenced by Konami after doing some technical / feasibility analysis. Thanks for bringing this up-definitely something to consider for future videos!
The hologram part seems advanced to this world. But we have to remember hologram technology was already available in the Duel arenas. Making it portable is a huge step up, but there's still the ground work.
Yeah, in the manga they used boxes with the tech a table inside, which probably could be a more workable solution until a portable version can be made.
Not to mention, the Battle City Duel Disk isn't even the first model. Way back in Duelist Kingdom, Kaiba made the first Duel Disk as a kind of spinning top. It's part of why the first name was Duel "Disk", you threw it like a frisbee after setting up your field.
@JorgeSanchez-zk6zw Exactly! The arenas laid the foundation, but taking that tech to a portable level is a whole new challenge, the more i looked into it, the more this became apparent. Maybe in another 20 - 30 years but It's exciting to think about the possibilities though. Thanks for sharing your thoughts
@csaadelbo Wow Great point! , you sound like you know your stuff :D
Starting with a more stationary setup like in the manga could definitely be a practical step. It’s all about building on existing tech and making it more accessible.
@UltimaKamenRiderFan1 Ah, the original Duel Disk! It’s crazy how much the design has evolved since then. OMG i never connected the frisbee like throwing mechanic and the actual name Duel Disk, i feel so silly for not connecting the dots. Thanks for the insight
I think we will get a zexal Duel Disc and D-Gazer in the future to see the holograms!
@johnremizeztomilloso158 That would be amazing! With tech evolving so fast, we might actually see something like that sooner than we think in the next 5-10 years. Fingers crossed for some real-life D-Gazers!
@@FantasyFinance-hy6rp Yeah can't till I'm 21 - 26 to be able to play YGO in Real Life with My Purple/Magenta Duel Disk and one eyed make-up D-Gazer in the style of Kite/Kaito with the Dark Rebellion XYZ Dragon Symbol cause of my favorite YGO spinoff character Yuto from Arc-V!
@@johnremizeztomilloso158 Duuude, you got time, its actually in your benefit. Might have anime like duels when you are in your 30s/40s😁
@johnremizeztomilloso158 one person is already working on that and it's called project atem
@@rkp-dueling awesome can't wait till it comes out!
One day we will get to the point where where yugioh is played like the anime
(sighs) what's the point anymore?, konami turned the game into a game of solitaire.
we will all be dead at that point lol
That’s what makes me sad, we won’t get to live it 😔
Just get better at the game lmao
"The duel disk is a reflection of the characters who use it"
Love this line. Gonna argue that this was technically true starting in the Orichalcos arc but character-specific duel disk design didn't really become a standardized part of the show's design philosophy until maybe halfway through GX (if not the start of 5Ds), since everyone in Battle City was using the first publicly released duel disk with a very standardized design.
Thanks, @OneJumpFromEden! Glad you liked that line. You're absolutely right about the Orichalcos arc and the evolution of character-specific Duel Disks. It's fascinating to see how the designs became more personalized over time. GX and 5Ds really took it to the next level! 👍
@@FantasyFinance-hy6rp it’s a talking point that really tickles my brain 😂. I’m obsessed with how 5Ds also shows the available tech disparity between lower and upper class duelists, like how Yusei’s duel disk looks like a modified KaibaCorp gen1.5 disk assembled from discarded parts, but Jack’s has that shiny sleek “iDisk by Apple” look to it 😂. Makes me think when you consider the upper limits of what one of these things would cost irl how powerful newer versions could be lol
@@OneJumpFromEden love that! , you definately approach the storylines with a mature pair of eyes. The tech disparity in 5Ds is such a fascinating detail. Yusei’s scrappy, DIY Duel Disk made from discarded parts versus Jack’s sleek, 'iDisk by Apple' really highlights the class differences. It’s amazing how the show uses tech design to reflect the characters' backgrounds and stories. Considering the upper limits of what these could cost in real life is mind-blowing - the newer versions would probably be insanely powerful and expensive! This is why I love diving deep into Yu-Gi-Oh! discussions!
I get that in zexal each character gets a unique design, but IMO I'm not a fan of that. KC mass-production FTW. simple, probably lightweight and a simple color paint can be customized. Plus if I had to choose a disk to own I'd rather own a DPad (Zexal.) I'd try and have it ultra compact to avoid having the blade being so long
Kaiba took lives to be number 1 after all that effort he runs into Exodia. Hits hard.
"Seriously, Kaiba went through so much, only to run into Exodia. That moment hits hard every time. 😅 But hey, that's Yu-Gi-Oh for you - always full of surprises!
Hes definitely a well fleshed out character
I wouldnt say you will get highjacked if the duel disk itself can be considered a weapon to just hit someone like hitting them with a brick. Just use it like a shield for gods sake if you have to. And if you saw the later duel disks in yugioh in general the new solid technological ones could just summons monsters to do your biddings for free so we can take part in the next world war that is going to take place somewhere that you can legally steal eachother's duel disks
Haha, @battushigsoronzonbold2502, you’ve got a point there! Duel Disks definitely look sturdy enough to double as a self-defense tool. Imagine Kaiba walking around with one, ready to duel or defend himself at a moment’s notice. 'Don't mess with me, I’ve got a Duel Disk, and I’m not afraid to use it!' 😂 Thanks for the laugh!"
Found your channel today and boy am I glad someone's doing exactly this content. One topic I'd like to see is how a standard issue pokeball (vanilla red/white variant) could cost the same as a bottle of Fresh Water in-universe
edit: also idk if it's conveyed properly in the anime but in the manga Kaiba was upset that he drew Blue Eyes on the exact moment he's gonna throw a card and it somewhat confirms that all those cards were in fact, not sleeved. 3 of a kind card, exposed in open air, thrown as ninja stars, deep enough into the target's flesh to stuck itself.
@jamesaditya5254 Welcome aboard! So glad you found the channel, Awesome talking to people who also ask these kind of questions.
That’s a fantastic topic idea (i already had a brief look into it :D - the economics of Pokéballs vs. Fresh Water. Definitely adding it to the list! And wow, Kaiba really didn’t care about card condition back then, did he? That’s a wild detail from the manga. Thanks for sharing
To think Kaiba gave them for free in the battle city, what a nice guy...
Technically he gave them to the best of the best, at least in his opinion, which is why Joey wasn't suppose to get one
@@Lucario1121 nah Joey definitely deserves one Kaiba was just salty
@kojavukovic9635 Right?! Kaiba, the unexpected philanthropist! I guess when you’re that rich, handing out state-of-the-art tech is no big deal and im pretty sure the whole tournament was for the sole purpose of hunting down the Egyptian god cards, a million or 2 in giveaway is well worth it to Kaiba. Thanks for the laugh!
@Lucario1121 True! Kaiba definitely had his own criteria for 'worthy' duelists. its weird though, growing up i always thought the city was filled with hundreds of duelists but its as you said. Kaiba really only selected people he felt were worthy
Not to forget just how stubborn Kaiba is, even if he knew deep down that Joey was worthy. He is to prideful to admit it
A few notes:
- Technically the duel disk debuted in the Duelist Kingdom arc. It was a prototype, but it was first showcased between Kaiba's reunion with the crew and getting his deck back with a test against Joey then had one more outing against Yugi.
- Others pointed it out, but the hologram technology already existed in the YGO universe. See above point about the prototype and Kaiba was already working on it being smaller and portable.
- The Duel Disks had additional attachments at the start that shot off to create the holographic field that was streamed in real-time by military-contract satellites from Kaibo Corps servers for all known cards in the YGO universe produced by Industrial Illusions --and before people bring up any cards from Waking the Dragons: Filler. Not canon.
- The cards aren't the same in the YGO universe. They aren't just cardboard.
These additional points may potentially influence the cost, but I feel it comes out to about the same.
Its pretty crazy to think about, the start of Yugioh took place around 1996 and if you count DSOD it ends around 1998-1999. Then GX started around 2004. So it took roughly a year into 1996-1997 to get insane hologram technology into masses during the battle city arc.
What's really amazing about duel disk technology is how fast it advanced. In early Yu-Gi-Oh, Yugi and Jounochi were trading pornography on VHS tapes. Pegasus sent one to Yugi to get him to come to duelist kingdom.
They went from that to a hologram device capable of solid hard light constructs and more impressive visuals than the mobile emitter that Star Trek Voyager got FROM THE FUTURE in the span of months. That would be like Leonardo DaVinci going from his weird paper screw helicopter to a modern Apache attack helicopter complete with missiles and radar.
For real, The tech leap in Yu-Gi-Oh is absolutely mind-blowing. Going from trading VHS tapes to solid hard light holograms in such a short time is like Da Vinci going straight from his paper screw helicopter to a modern Apache attack helicopter lool - complete with missiles and radar! It’s incredible how the series blends fiction with advanced technology so seamlessly. The hologram tech in Yu-Gi-Oh definitely rivals some of the coolest sci-fi tech out there, like Star Trek’s mobile emitter from the future
This whole thing perfectly fits the absolutely insanely indulgent costs that Kaiba put into his prototype and final design duel disks. This is almost like a real life trailer from Kaiba himself that he'd show to customers/investors at Kaibacorp just talking about everything that goes into his duel disks. Fantastic in-depth video, beautifully picked apart at each individual element and its costs. This was very entertaining! This deserves many more likes and views!
This video did not shocked me about the cost it would be to make actual dual discs it just reinforced my belief that seto kaiba is fucking insane.
Haha, @jeniskindof, totally get you! The cost breakdown definitely shows how far Kaiba would go for his obsession with Duel Monsters. The man is definitely on another level of dedication (or insanity)! 😂 Thanks for watching
I think the dynamic animations and interactions of the Yugioh cards could be done with extremely advanced AI.
"@allovertheworld5048, that’s a great point! With how rapidly AI is advancing, it’s not far-fetched to think that dynamic animations and interactions for Yu-Gi-Oh cards could be handled by extremely advanced AI. Ai is already being used game texture modelling
I was honestly expecting a lot more expensive 😅 This is the cost of like a cheap to medium range car.
Right? It's surprising how the costs add up but it makes you realize how advanced the tech in those Duel Disks really is. 🚗🔗
I dunno about you but 25k still seems insane for a games console looool
@@FantasyFinance-hy6rp Yeah that's definitely insane, but so is paying some of the outrageous prices people pay for a single card. Like $700+ for a starlight rare Apollousa 👀😅
If the duel disk actually worked like in the shows, it would probably be worth the crazy price tag. 🤷 They would definitely have to let you make payments or something though. 😂😂
@@garrukablaze Holy smokes 700 dollars, you are absolutely on the money, if it was real. Imaginge the tournament prize money. Think about if cards in real life were also as rare as in the show like Kaiba and his 3 blue eyes. The price would be insane
@@FantasyFinance-hy6rp There's some cards that are almost that rare. Specifically stuff like YCS prize cards, but they have other prints. I couldn't imagine if there was legitimately three of a card ever made. 😅
Kaiba really was the goat. He invented and mass produced these duel discs and then gave them away for free
Absolutely, @DoramaRx! Kaiba's dedication to Duel Monsters was next level. He definitely set the bar high with those Duel Disks! 🚀 #KaibaCorp
Maybe i should do a video on KaibaCorp, you got me thinking lol
Also a thing of note, The cards would probably have to be re-released as the current cards would be incompatible with the rigors of a duel disk shuffling and addition system. each card would probably need some for of rf in it to identify each one as well
Great point, @FURNACE_YGO! You’re absolutely right - the current cards wouldn’t stand a chance in a high-tech Duel Disk. Adding RFID tech to each card would be a game-changer, but also a huge project. Imagine the tech upgrade and all the possibilities! 🎴🤖
I could see us getting the duelist kingdom arena type of holograms far before we could get an actual duel disk. I never read the manga but of all the shows I've seen through various generations, I have NEVER seen them charge the duel disk's battery power.
Good point, @Don_DeMarco! Those Duelist Kingdom arenas were epic and might be easier to pull off with our current tech, wonder how much they would charge per match to use it. And yeah, it's funny how Duel Disks in the show seem to have infinite battery life - talk about cutting-edge, fictional tech! Guess Kaiba Corp figured out perpetual energy too or a case of lazy writing
3D Holograms of over 10,000+ cards,
Various interactions in various formations, summon animations, attack animations, idle animations, in realtime;
And it's not just placing cards in places, there's also "i activate my monsters effect"-surely there's an animation for that, and that that's both context and voice activated. There's so much to take into consideration... And all with the cards we already have, and what about sleeves. So much...
"only those with deep pockets can stay on top of the game"
That's already what it is.
@XYGamingRemedyG, you’re so right! Creating 3D holograms for over 10,000 cards with various animations and interactions would be an enormous task. The sheer amount of context and voice-activated animations needed is mind-boggling. And yeah, figuring out how to incorporate things like card sleeves adds another layer of complexity. It’s a huge undertaking, but imagine how epic it would be to see all that in real-time duels!. We just need to show konami there is serious money to be made
true words! Yu-Gi-Oh has always had a bit of a pay-to-win element, and creating real-life Duel Disks would definitely cater to those with deeper pockets. It’s a high-cost hobby for sure, but the passion and dedication in the community are what make it all worthwhile!"
Zexal has AR based duels via the use of Duel Gazers. The system is city wide and has it's own database for every duel and duelist. It's also been hacked a few times which caused duels in progress to glitch. Me thinks the duel disk of that show were just terminals that sent the data to the servers. That saves on the computing cost of the disk itself and since the AR tech was built into the infrastructure that has to be another bundle of savings since all you have to do is update the programmed models and interactions in the environment. But wait, there's more. AI is also an advanced thing in the show seeing that robots are semi autonomous. Maybe, to a degree, the monsters played can learn to move around obstacles and stuff making themselves more realistic. That or Duel Gazers can scan environment and tell Monsters what's real and not. Then that saves money for rescanning when the mayor builds a new statue or something. No clue why Monster attacks can hurt you though.
5D you see Duel Runners with detachable duel disk. But in this show those work differently. Dueling is not only done for entertainment but it also Powers society. The gimmick of that anime being synchro summoning. Synchro summoning a monster creates this harmonic energy that is used to power New Domino City. So essentially everyone playing the game ensures cheap energy. I'm not sure how that economically applies to the dueling world but it must save money when the dual disk is making money. The downside in that show being the overuse of the summoning technique actually corrupting the people of that era. Essentially synchro energy is supposed to be synonymous to nuclear energy and a dangers of abusing it. Whereas the corruption is supposed to be synonymous to radiation poisoning. And even in this anime it appears some of the infrastructure of society is built around dueling specifically on motorcycles. More than a few times do characters initiate duels on highways and holographic barriers appear that would instruct a motorist to take up other lanes. "Sorry boss, I'm a little late because two idiots just started a duel on the i-65."
In the first duel monsters series holographic technology must be a big whoop for what is apparently the 1990s. There was an entire Arc in the anime where all the monsters were extremely real and Kaiba constantly brushes it off as someone using advanced holograms.
Wow, @jacobwalker6520! Tell me you know your stuff without telling me you know your stuff
It's amazing how much thought the creators put into the tech in each Yu-Gi-Oh series. You're right, Zexal's AR system was ahead of its time, and the idea of Duel Gazers and city-wide databases is just mind-blowing. The hacking glitches definitely added some extra drama to those duels! 🤖
And yeah, the Duel Runners from 5D's were a whole new, I won't lie, I found the concept of duelling while on a high-speed vehicle a bit crazy, what about the wind or requirement for a free highway lol. Synchro summoning to power the city? That's some next-level renewable energy right there! It's like the show predicted our future energy problems but with a cool twist. 🎴🏍️
The original series' take on holograms was pretty wild too. Kaiba's 'it's just advanced holograms' line cracks me up every time - Fingers crossed for a reboot
Thanks for sharing all this awesome info. It really adds another layer of appreciation for the tech in Yu-Gi-Oh! Keep those fun facts coming!"
@@FantasyFinance-hy6rp They keep cards not being played on a boom arm that sort of sits besides them. You see it in the background when shown a shot up close on the bike! My favorite part of the series really is the look of the duel disk! GX has the most variety put zexal feels top of the line!
@@jacobwalker6520 OMG i never noticed that on their arm, i feel very silly now. Really cool to see how everyone has different tastes and reasoning for liking each of the series

20K to have Dark Magician Gi..... errr Blue Eyes White Dragon by my side? Where do I sign up!?
Keep in mind that Kiba gave out thousands of these out for free for entering his tournament
@darkherosolidox, you’re right! Kaiba did distribute Duel Disks for free to participants in his tournaments, showcasing his dedication to advancing the game and his technology. It’s amazing how he was willing to share such advanced tech to ensure the best dueling experience.
Plus, even if you managed to get one, chances are a lot of your friends wouldn't have one so you couldn't even use it. They'd most likely be used only in world championships for the most part.
@SuperSteve180 That’s a good point! It would be pretty tough to find opponents with a Duel Disk, outside of official tournaments or championships. Maybe one day they’ll become more common. Its too hard to justify spending that much money on it unless you were a pro or as you said, it was bankrolled by a tournament organiser.
Thanks for watching!"
Arc-V is more Advanced compared to the older stuff because of being able to interact with the monsters but i love to see it in the future
Totally! Arc-V took things to a whole new level with the interactive monsters. Can't wait to see how close we get to that in real life. I really hope i get to see that in my lifetime🌟

If Konami had the military budget of the US military they could have duel disk anime technology available on a consumer level in no time flat
Bro I seriously wish the technology becomes cheap enough to get us there
My original thought how much a duelist would cost was actually 100 billion dollars so I have a feeling that way way less then what I originally thought😂lol.
Honestly I'm surprised that it basically costs as much as a car you basically have to bring rich or financially secure to buy these things...hmmmm...me thinks
Yeah, @Byrdstar6423-un3me, the cost of a Duel Disk is definitely up there. You’d need to be pretty financially secure to own one but its some insane tech to be walking around with
Later duel disks do automatic shuffling and even later ones use digital cards
Great point, @DuelistWave! The evolution of Duel Disks with automatic shuffling and digital cards is fascinating. Imagine how convenient that would make dueling in real life!
The thing is though you’re thinking like you have to pay full price of fun with it being such a Interco part of the game after it’s released I’m sure they would make it so you can put it on the payment plan plus you would probably have to pay service fees in order to continue to keep it connected tothe servers
True, @edwardcofer-rivera2556! Payment plans and service fees would definitely make the cost more manageable for players. It’s all about making the tech accessible while ensuring it remains integrated into the game
They didn't have hard light until Arc V.
Great point, @alphamarigi! Arc V really did push the boundaries with hard light technology. It's amazing to see how the tech in Yu-Gi-Oh evolves with each series.
So close to 100 dude keep it up!
Wouldn't be possible without you, thanks
Honestly, I'd try and buy one. I'm broke as hell, but if I can find some good paying tournaments to join or something, then I'm dueling my best to get my mitts on the cash for one.
Love the dedication, @emberthefox4951! Competing in tournaments to save up for a Duel Disk sounds like a true duelist’s path. Best of luck - may the heart of the cards be with you in your quest to get one!

so the disk cost just as much as a deck....cool
Crazy, right? Duel Disks cost as much as a top-tier deck. But let's be honest, the bragging rights and the cool factor? Totally worth it!
The crazier part is, they were given away for free during the Battle City arc....but a rare hunter gave Joey one in order to try and get his Red Eyes Black Dragon....so how Much is a Red Eyes worth then?
"dual disc"
"door disk"
"dork disq"

Your sharp eye is unrelenting, I've had a sit down with out captions manager. We will work to improve this in the future. Thank you
Now, I know this is about the very first, most basic OG Duel Disks that use Solid Vision, but now I can't help but wonder what ARC-V's Real Solid Vision Duel Disks would cost.
Great question, @wlm174! Arc-V’s Real Solid Vision Duel Disks would definitely cost a fortune with their advanced features. It would be fascinating to break down those costs - maybe that’s a topic for a future video!
Having an AR system would be the most managable, using our phones for the connectivity would mitigate some of the costs as they connect already and the phone games allow us to connect all over the world already. So there is the baseline but I am aware that the majority of the costs of programing would be animating the cards and developing an AR set/program to allow us to see them. I doubt they would need to animate everything as they can take some of the animations that they use for the games out now like duel links and master duel. There is stuff to build upon but it is a huge task if they would like to take this on. I would pay a lot though it does seem like it would be hella fun to have AR duels.
Spot on, @gerrygraciano8711! Using AR with our phones could definitely make the tech more manageable and cost-effective. There’s a lot to build on with existing game animations. It would be a huge task, but the fun of AR duels would be worth it.
Suggestion: Make a video about dueling arenas, like the one in the first episode and the dueling kingdom arc.
Hey @tomyivanov9926, that’s an awesome idea! Those early dueling arenas were epic and definitely deserve a deep dive. I’ll start brainstorming on this one-thanks for the suggestion!
Despite the wildly enormous price tag for a duel disk to be developed now, the thing about technology is that even the most state of the art, cutting edge tech eventually gets cheaper as time goes on. For now, its expensive, sure, but give or take competition and the rate of how quickly things go obsolete in the name of future innovation, that price is gonna drop low enough for even average people can afford one easily; At the rate were going, id estimate that by the end of this decade, by 2030, we will start seeing these things available on the market for real.
Absolutely, @rampagephoenix1735! Tech prices do drop over time, and it’s exciting to think that Duel Disks could become affordable in the future. By 2030, we might actually see these things on the market. It’s crazy how quickly innovation can make the impossible possible!
I really hope yugioh stays relevant for next hundred years and hopefully the technology will be available some time during that period
In my uneducated opinion, I think the ip will last but most of it will be dependent on Konami. They literally ha e a golden egg in their hands ✋️
only if it looks like the Dark side of dimensions version, then it is worth 25k.
have the card database online, so deck building would be easy. no more spending for a real cards.
in the same movie, kaiba used some kind of eye tech, which gave him to see the monsters in real life. use snapdragon chip or anything that makes triple A games.
wow, @GreenKaizer! The Dark Side of Dimensions Duel Disk design is sleek and definitely next next level tech. Having an online card database would be a game-changer for deck building. Kaiba’s eye tech is something we could aim for with advanced AR - the future of dueling looks bright!
Puting chips in the cards RFID would be much cheaper than e cards
Good point, @haruhisuzumiya6650! RFID chips in the cards would be a much cheaper solution than e-cards. It’s a practical way to bring the Duel Disk technology to life without breaking the bank
Wow so my original thought of it being 100 billion for each one would actually get 3,846,153 to 3,846,154 in total for unit.
So I could technically get almost 4 million in dual this what I originally said.
I would say in general, I would want us to get the point of Duel Arenas where it was mainly in the first season of the anime. Though that in itself would be greater undertaking probably more than duel disk. I imagine that arcade places might be the where it would be ideal venue. Though I imagine Konami would want put those in their own events. Much like the duel terminals.
Totally with you, @Kiefster! Those Duel Arenas from the first season were iconic. Having something like that in arcades would be incredible, and I can see Konami making a big deal out of it at their events. It’d be a massive project, but man, would it be worth it. 😄🎮
Just need to convince Konami
@FantasyFinance-hy6rp yeah I think it's matter of when.
Maybe they can have so where if you do those arenas, it can come with some loaner decks so for example in master duel you have loaner decks you can use to trial.
Maybe for non-human players have it where people can practice against ai.
Maybe have a fee before people can use it.
Though I'd say the more realistic approach is putting an ar environment where they can project on a virtual playmat
@@Kiefster For real, dude you are getting me excited, we just need to convince Konami of the financial benefits. You would absolutely have to put down a deposit like trying to rent a car or jet-ski. Regular goes can sign up to a membership
@@FantasyFinance-hy6rp Maybe add to this discussion. Question is will konami want to do this?
@@Kiefster A video on the financial benefits, sounds like a good idea. Sadly money talks and Konami dont have a history of treating their ip's well. They could learn a lot from Nintendo
You're definitely overestimating, Nintendo already had an AR reader card set in the 3ds, the 3d models would definitely reuse frames for similar shaped cards like monster hunter does, no way there wouldn't be reused animations too, and you wouldn't need a wifi network just local wireless but needing to connect to upload win\loss data and update the system itself for new cards
uel\ban-list releases.
it would still be expensive easily 3 grand, up to 5 if hologram tech instead of ar, and they would 100% be sold at a loss, cause let's be real this ain't where Konami would make the money it's the forest worth of paper cards they would sell to use with... and license fees to let other card companies be able to play their games on them too
battery life on it would absolutely suck especiallywith holograms, depending on if it's cheap plastic or quality metal it could definitely be heavy and awkward to wear
since it has to be weather proof and completely sealed would get hot as f**k after a few min, like my gaming laptop will burn me after 30 min cause I got sensitive skin and it is all metal, and it has cooling, the card platform could be used as a heat radiation thing, but that would risk damaging the cards
Great points, @dragonkingzippo! You’re absolutely right that Nintendo’s AR reader for the 3DS shows what’s possible with current tech, and reusing frames and animations would definitely help cut costs. But considering the level of detail and the number of unique cards in Yu-Gi-Oh, there’d still be a significant amount of work involved.
Local wireless is a smart idea for duels, but I think a robust online infrastructure would still be needed for things like global rankings, tournaments, and real-time updates, which could add to the costs.
Battery life and overheating are huge challenges, especially with holograms. You’re spot on there. Using quality materials while ensuring it’s weatherproof would definitely be tricky and could make it heavier and more awkward to wear.
You’ve got a lot of great insights here, and it’s clear you’ve thought this through!
you should put credits in the description on what footage you used.
Good call, @-Siknakaliux-II Thanks
F it just give us a smooth VR experience like zexal
It's fun that we didn't saw the duel disks as so up until battle city, and we actually saw the technology being developed in real time, first Kaiba developed the duel arenas, Sigfried Von Shroeder made something like that but more portable, then Kaiba made the "actually portable" version using those weird UFO disks, then they developed and evolved the things until the duel disks that didn't need external projectors came to be, I still find the external projectors a terrible idea as those things with their tiny glider wings were prone to crashing and breaking... that made Kaiba make the projectors part of the thing as only repair costs would prove way too much for any duelist.
but now with the game reduced to a game of solitaire with the player that goes first winning by default, I don't think the duel disks will be needed.
@Dewani90 Absolutely! The evolution of Duel Disks is such an interesting part of the series. Kaiba’s innovations really pushed the tech forward. And yeah, those external projectors were a bit risky! It’s a shame the game has changed so much now, maybe they can reboot the original duel monsters series. Thanks for the great comment!
Be honest. Who else would save up?
Be honest? I’d definitely save up, @kingkaioken5560! Having a real Duel Disk would be a dream come true
How about making a beyblade video? Speaking of Yu-Gi-Oh I've made 3 so far out of cardboard so I'd be on the hardware side of making duel disk.
Added to the list :D
good video!
@emerguevara5571 Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it!
Feel free to add the kind of topics you would like explored
But what if i say you can hold hands with your waifu or husbandos of choice.
I'll sell my soul if i have to, to get one.
Haha, @laughthis138! Holding hands with your waifu or husbando? Now that's a next-level selling point! 😂 I can totally see people lining up for that. Might have to sell my soul for one too! Thanks for the laugh and for watching!
Odds are, duel disks would likely only be obtained via invitation much how it is in the anime.
Interesting thought, @josephbedwell3164! Having Duel Disks available by invitation only would definitely add an exclusive, elite element to owning one, just like in the anime. It would make them even more in demand!
@@FantasyFinance-hy6rp it'd definitely be worth playing for the rank if Konami sent you a working duel disk.
@@josephbedwell3164 Then add million dollar price pots. I would definitely pay to see that
@@FantasyFinance-hy6rp konami doesn't give monetary prizes anymore. So a million dollar prize would likely be a duel disk.
What would 25,000$ also be the same price for a smart duel playmats snice thats what a duel disk is.
Interesting thought! Smart duel playmats could definitely share some tech with Duel Disks. Who knows, maybe we'll see something like that soon!
How many years until we get there you think?
The Batmobile
Do magical items count?
The Batmobile is definitely a tech marvel that I could work on, great idea (added to the list)! If we're talking magical items, the possibilities are endless! I might have to take a few liberties on energy usage and potential cost. Won't lie, you have my brain turning. Imagine the cost breakdown for something like Thor's hammer or the One Ring. Now that's a video idea! 😄🔮
That would be great, maybe you work by comparing various other tech real or fictional to the properties of these objects or that contain similar amounts of power.
@@HeavenlyZanpakuto Added to the list :) Smart idea, i i try to compare them to real life items to help ground my numbers in reality. Im glad to hear you find that beneficial
@@FantasyFinance-hy6rp indeed. I say try to go by utility. Say for example some sort of mystical fire stone. Ultimately what it does is produce flames or explosions, so you might compare it price to explosives of similar properties. You’d probably add the cost of gemstones of similar rarity & type, not to mention its reusability & you should have a somewhat realistic price.
Stuff like teleportation would be much more difficult, and if you did something like the philosopher’s stone from FMA you’d come up with infinite money sense it can warp matter.
I’d probably avoid objects of infinite value such as that, you won’t really have a video otherwise.
How much money does Kaiba corp have to be able to hand them out for free
Sounds like an awesome video idea, what you think ?
Great question though! Kaiba Corp must have a ridiculous amount of money. Being a billionaire genius in the Yu-Gi-Oh world definitely has its perks. 💰💳
Oh, so cheaper than by student loan debt.
Right? @Naruku2121, it's wild to think that a Duel Disk could cost less than student loan debt! At least with a Duel Disk, you get some serious bragging rights and endless fun.
@@FantasyFinance-hy6rp Imagine if reality took a page from GX where there's established dueling academies, maybe people can get a discount through scholar ships and loans.
@@Naruku2121 lol Im super curious to think of how exactly they could pad that curriculum. Imagine charging 20k to attend dueling academy
@@FantasyFinance-hy6rp Yeah that'd be crazy, I guess if Dueling was a part of real life culture as it is to the extent of the anime series they could have funding from sponsors like sporting related professions or like E-Sports. That way they can have big corporations to help marketing and brand deals. Might even see crazy cards made as a result of brand deals or promotion events.
As for the schools itself probably would have curriculums based on various card types and summoning methods. Practical dueling exams as finals. Drill people in card effects and chain effects as written tests.
Great video! remember people if you enjoyed this content be sure to subscribe.
Yes please :D
I love how they’re supposed to be holograms but they get hit like if they’re real monsters 😂😂😂 so are they acting then or what? Hahahaha
Haha, @stresslee, I've always wondered that too! Are they holograms or are they real monsters? The characters sure make those hits look convincing. It's part of the magic of Yu-Gi-Oh, I guess
How about technology is always evolving getting better and keeper an even smaller so look at things like TVs and calls and video games and phones and even The console for the games.
Except for currently the PlayStation 5😂lol.
when you said no maybe not 50 i thought youw ere gonna go down not up lol 100 years? assuming we dont blow our selves up id say 25? even but 50 was a good number. also would like to say this is just the most basic duel disc. but going even further how possible is it to do everything in arc V lol my answer is never cause they are actually riding them xD but even ignoring that
Haha, @Omega_thehusky, I love your optimism! You’re right, 25-50 years seems more realistic given how fast tech is advancing. And yeah, the Arc-V stuff is next level - riding Duel Disks might be a bit far off, but who knows? The future is full of possibilities!
*'? DID Y0U JACKED SELF ALL-WEEK ?'N0 . DID CARYED MY DUEL-DISC ALL-WEEK'*

Mad expensive. Good content
@streetfighterbeatdowns7210 Thanks! Yeah, those Duel Disks aren’t cheap!. How could you justify the spend unless you are a sponsored pro player
Glad you enjoyed the video."
