Face Cards - Failed Cards, Archetypes, and Sometimes Mechanics in Yu-Gi-Oh

- If there’s anything you’ll learn from today’s video, it’s that these cards are actually called the Face Cards. You’ll probably ignore that and continuously call them the Arcana Knight cards, like how people still stack Draw 4s in Uno even though you can’t. One thing we can agree on is that these are some of Yugi’s most iconic monsters, as this trio was seen many times on TV, and it was the best tribute summon fodder for Slifer. As if you couldn’t see it coming, anything that is a Yugi monster usually becomes a cash-grab archetype that doesn’t really do much and then becomes a 15-minute video where I rant about how terrible they are

"like how people still stack Draw 4s in Uno even though you can’t." I feel so called out. I also like the ARCANA KNIGHT archetype even though I lose with it 9:1 in Gold rank. I'll die on this hill.
We didn’t give a shit 🤣😂. Either play on or start picking em up
Considering that the UNO rulebook literally says "Do whatever change to the rules you want, we cant stop you" its very much possible to stack draw 4s
House rules baybee
i'm not sure but in standard uno, if you challenge another player's +4, do they have to reveal their hand to everyone?
You can stack Draw 4s in the video game. It counts.
They may have not work as a tier 0 threat, but I like how well-thought the support cards were made conceptually. Specially Thunderspeed being perfect for summoning Slifer.
they arent even rogue, but they arent badly designed at all, they work super well in casual play and are fun, which is important. they just arent competitively viable, which is different from being badly designed. the slifer stuff is actually kind of awesome, very "anime moment" cards
I called it the poker archetype this whole time 🗿
People were calling them the Poker Knights right up until Zexal tried to address them and denied using the word "poker" in the dub.
I called it Arcana Knights
Ever since they got Joker as a fusion monster, I've called them Joker Knights.
I feel like a lot of these failed archetypes only fail by merit of just how stupid the game itself has gotten.
In a lot of other situations, these would be rough but the payoff would be worth it. But in Yugioh, where you can get an effortless board wipe and a few negations for less effort than blowing your nose, the payoff just doesn't hack it.
Honestly, I agree.
If we had this deck back 20 years ago, it would have been considered broken
@@mikemcfly4085 If we had this deck 20 years ago without that year's brand of powercreep it would BE that year's brand of powercreep. I don't think there's any way for Konami to win here other than what they're already doing because at least that buffs their wallets. We need more YGO players to spend huge on weak lore and character related cards over powercreep to make Konami see that the prior things sell over just making stronger new options.
you want stupid? masterduel's win rate going first is 60%, i am not making this up, there is data on this subject. when magic was in their worst year, combo winter, the going first win rate TOPPED at 56%. name me ANY OTHER GAME that has a 20% win rate discrepancy like that. limiting cards is POINTLESS now because masterduel THEMSELVES ran a limit one event in 2024, and it did not stop their top decks, at ALL. they had to replace like 7 cards, maybe fit in a complementary engine, and NOTHING. COULD. STOP. THEM. all the hand traps where also limit 1. this is proof they are taking the game OFF ITS RAILS for quarterly profit.
@@keymaster16 Honestly, the game is going too fast. "Don't let the opponent play" is a toxic mentality for the game to follow. Negates shouldn't be this common.
My favorite thing to do with Thunderspeed Summon is Sphere Mode-ing my opponent’s entire board on their turn.
When King's Court had just come out I was just starting to get back into YGO, and I was really taken by a deck list I saw that used the Face Cards as fodder for Sphere Mode. Going first? Thunderspeed summon into Sphere Mode into a 4000 ATK Ra. Going second? Thunderspeed Summon into Sphere Mode-ing your opponent's board, then either fuse for Joker or XYZ for Utopia.
Played this deck against my friends dark magician deck. He had a freaking dragoon out. Pulling sphere mode at the exact correct time was the only thing that won the game.
Yeah....shit's gonna get negated by a lot of cards, bro.
That was fun for a bit, but the bulk of Yugioh decks became so recursive and one card turbo that repeatedly nuking their field with sphere mode couldn't finish them as easily as I'd like.
That and Joker's Wild -> Joker's Straight-> special queen's knight (defense), add King's Knight, normal (tribute summon) sphere-mode was a lot less bricky.
@@ryanla6270the number of people that negate Joker's Wild is close to zip
"Slifer the Executive Producer" 😂 throwback to LittleKuriboh
Ah thank you, I remembered hearing that before, but couldn't remember where xD
I knew this episode was coming and it's still hurt. These are my favorite cards.
I feel you. Ghoti might be my favourite archetype and I thought it was too new to be thrown into the failed category, but alas.
Same
as someone who who mains this deck irl and master duel, one other flaw is bricking. for example: you could have the perfect hand, (royal straight and 4 other cards) that could make plays and/or possibly bait out negates. but the moment you draw your last queen’s knight from your deck during your draw phase, your perfect hand suddenly bricks!
they are rare occurrence but it does happen. you have no idea how many times ive had a fun/grindy duel, thinking multiple ways of making my next play only to lose from drawing the last queens knight from my deck 🥲
Context: “the spell card specifically says summon queen’s knight from your deck”if only they added ‘From Hand’ too 😭🤣
When duel links gave you skills with a lot of words but still not playable you know you are bad.😂
Sometimes the skills have a lot of words but aren't really good. for one reason or another. like the summn restrictions. Look at the Thousand-Eyes Illusion Skill.
Sometimes the skills end up being better than people gave it credit. remember when people thought the "Soul of Light & Darkness" skill wasn't good?. Or how Tachyon Dragon Domination was so utterly broken but it was worded so horribly people at first ddn't realize how strong it was
@@ianr.navahuber2195 that's actually true. But the thing about this deck it barely become playable even with skill at least thousand eye when it came out it was strong enough to be rouge or some ex deck that have cards that improve as time goes on, I can't say the same thing with this one.
@@darkness2883 the main problems of the deck is that it is a glass cannon russian roulette with a silver bullet.
very weak, and without a proper payoff, and sometimes you cna end up bricking, but man, when it knows how to interact when you really need it, and if it hits, it hits for game.
if it was able to get a better protection, a better payoff (more useful LIGHT Warriors for turn 1 plays), or ways to unbrick your hand while helping you get to your plays.
maybe a card with an effect of "reveal this card in your hand, place 1 "queen's knight", "king's knight", or "jack's knight" from your hand or GY, on the bottom of your deck, and if you do, you can add from your deck to your hand, up to 2 cards that meets at least 1 of the criteria listed below
- A card that specifically lists all of "Queen's Knight", "King's Knight", and "Jack's Knight"
- A card that specifically mentions "Slifer the Sky Dragon"
Also give it the "During the End Phase, if this card is in your GY: You can target 1 LIGHT Warrior monster in your GY; shuffle it into the Deck, and if you do, add this card to your hand" effect
that way you help the consistency and unbricking, given you need queen's knight in deck for joker's straight (the best card) to resolve
Having a skill tied to a card doesn't mean it should be good. The skill does most of the work for bad cards and some of them are busted and some of them aren't. The gate guardian is waaaay worse than the face cards but they have an absurd duel links skill
@@Humandefectwait they have a good duel links skill?
It's funny how many of the failed cards are used in the solo mode
The only place you can use them and still have a chance to win (Also still low chance considering thise loaner decks don't give Slifer searches)
Aren’t most decks failed
Honestly, coming at this as a casual, I feel they have an easy way to actually make the face cards better. The way being to make good retrains of king's queen and jack knight that ate treated as those original cards that way you don't have to run the ogs as garnets.
"The way to make these cards better is to play something else in their place." That's you. That's what you said.
has worked with harpies before, why not
@@ChristmasPterodactyl Yeah no shit Sherlock that a super common thing they've done in yugioh is still being done. I bring it up because guess what that's what works.
@@TrueWarriorJak There's a difference between saying Konami could or should make retrains of a card and saying that printing retrains makes the original better. The former is an unobjectionabke statement, but your original post claimed the latter which is dumb. (And yes, I'm aware that some card retrains have provided utility to also running the original, but your proposed idea specifically excludes doing that)
Also, a searcher for cards that mention those three cards would help.
This archetype is great. It absolutely rules in Master Duel, especially if you run Idaten the Conqueror Star in the extra deck
One problem I've always had with the orginals is that it feels that queens knight should have the same effect as Kings knight. I can't count the number of times in the video games where I would summon Kings Knight first, draw into queens knight and play it only to not get the effect to summon Jack's knight because the cards don't work that way.
if i were making an archtype based on a group called "the face cards" i think i would probably include a 10 and an ace and have it be like exodia gamble deck, where if you ever had a royal flush you win the duel.
Royal Straight is already a card. It sends King, Queen and Jack to the GY to special summon any monster that mentions all 3 from hand, deck, extra deck or GY.
@@ScionStorm1 right but that's not exodia. I don't think you're picking up what i'm putting down.
@@clericofchaos1 i wish konami would print cool alternative win conditions, but they are too scared. its either the same generic attack 3 times to win or something nigh impossible. and usually not very thematic. this would be on theme and probably not super abusable if they design the cards right
@@uuh4yj43 Right, there are already a lot of gamble cards in the game, most of which stink, so trying to come up with some casino themed archtype with a royal flush win condition seems like it wouldn't be out of place and could be cool if done right.
Jack’s Knight would have been better if it was level 4 instead of 5.
It be cool to get Retrains of the Jack,Queen, and King. With good effects that are always treated as Jack,Queen, and King. Plus 10 Knight and Ace Knight being made.
You don't need to dip into the numbers, you can still use other faces. Although "Knight's Knight" would be a ridiculous name.
I think some wiggle room for an Ace Knight would work since it’s technically not a number and a good card in poker.
Imagine using those cards for an actual poker deck

It'd be nice if the archetype added a new fusion and/or link that uses two of the knights instead of three. Perhaps a retrain on some of them based on Slifer's attributes, as if after all the times they helped get it out Slifer's seen fit to give a divine blessing to the knights.
Still one of my fav archetypes. I hope we get more support in the future 🙏. The main going first plays I like are: F0 Utopic Draco and/or Constellar Pleiades. I use a Heroic package to get more warriors on the field. Also you can fusion summon Gilti Gearfried and Raijin the Breakbolt Star with them. And going second you still have access to the Heroic rank 4 OTKs in addition to utopia double
0:01 their official name is "Three Musketeers of Face Cards". A Name nobody uses to call them and they just call them "Poker Knights"
8:27 it can also fetch you the winged dragon of ra (original & sphere mode)
11:15 the alternative anime boss monster of the deck.... that thye didn't even bother to update to be at least as half as playable as arcana triumph joker minimum
I would love if this deck got if the deck got a continuous spell or a field spell that granted all the Poker Knights (and the cards summoned with them) immunity to your opponent's card effects that DON'T target them (so the opponent was FORCED to use effects that target them... effects that the "Arcana Extra Joker" & "Arcana Knight Joker" cards can negate).
Maybe even add "they can't be destroyed by card effects" (so the opponent is forced to estroy them by battle... enabling their floating effects that only activate by battle)
Maybe an effect that helps you with your plays: A card that lets you search "Joker's Straight" to kickstart your combos... or let's you activate "Joker's Wild" so you can access all Spells that specifically lists all of "Queen's Knight", "King's Knight", and "Jack's Knight" (sorry to the players who wanted "Court of Cards" to be searcheable)
Maybe give the deck some Level 1, 2, 3 monsters to support them (so even royal straight slasher is usable to some degree)
10:52 SLIFER THE EXECUTIVE PRODUCER
IN ALL HIS EXECUTIVE GLORY
8:31 Forget Slifer, this card was perfect for a surprise Winged Dragon of Ra - Sphere Mode
The "casual play" strategies are way more interesting in my opinion
1000%
joker knight by itself is really nice to SS itself just by milling a face card, so pretty good along side the star warrior cards and feast of the wild lvl 5 to create easy rank 5s and links.
I did surprisingly well with this deck in the early days of Master Duel. It was the first deck I invested in building, and I used a more casual build since I personally enjoy more variety duel to duel instead of the same endboard over and over. It had good going second tools like searching Sphere Mode and going first Slifer was a nice floodgate against a good few strategies. I ran 52 cards in the main deck as a fun nod to playing cards (and I swear I still somehow started 75% of duels with BOTH my one of Jack’s Knight and Double or nothing in my hand 🤣). It only really fell off for me when Prosperity and Gamma got Semi-limited and Red Reboot got band. I had to play a smaller deck with more “good cards” to win duels. I still enjoy this deck but with Isolde banned, I’d have to do a lot of reconstructing to have even a casual build that works 😖 lol I wish some banned cards were allowed in bad decks 🤣
Judge!! He just summed Isolde! She’s banned!
Let me take a look… Pfff he’s playing Facecards kid, you’ll be just fine.
My fav failed archetype is Dragunity. I love it even though it was slow af initially and the support helped a lot but not enough
Jack's Knight and Pot of Greed are forever intertwined in my mind.
Now this one hits me directly for game because it's one of my favorite archetypes.
I truly, honestly, really did my absolute best to make the deck work.
Alas, such was my luck.
Slifer the Executive Producer! 🤣
Idea for a retrain of each of the 3 original knights, with effects that play off of each other:
0:38
_Royal King’s Knight_ (LIGHT)
Level 4
Warrior/Effect
_(This cards name is always treated as “King’s Knight)_
_If you control a face-up “Queen’s Knight” and “Jack’s Knight” each (Quick Effect): You can Special Summon this card from your hand or GY. If this card is summoned, you can take 1 “Queen’s Knight” or “Jack’s Knight” (From your hand, deck, GY or banishment): Either add it to your hand, send it to your GY or shuffle it into your deck. “Knight” monsters you control gain ATK equal to their original DEF. If a “Knight” monster you control attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict Piercing Battle Damage._
ATK/1600 DEF/1400

_Royal Queen’s Knight_ (LIGHT)
Level 4
Warrior/Effect
_(This cards name is always treated as “Queen’s Knight)_
_If you control a face-up “King’s Knight” and “Jack’s Knight” each (Quick Effect): You can Special Summon this card from your hand or GY. If this card is summoned, you can take 1 “King’s Knight” or “Jack’s Knight” (From your hand, deck, GY or banishment): Either add it to your hand, send it to your GY or shuffle it into your deck. “Knight” monsters you control gain DEF equal to their original ATK. If a “Knight” monster you control attacks and destroys an opponent’s monster by battle, it can attack again in a row._
ATK/1500 DEF/1600
0:56
_Royal Jack’s Knight_ (LIGHT)
Level 5
Warrior/Effect
_(This cards name is always treated as “Jack’s Knight)_
_If you control a face-up “King’s Knight” and “Queen’s Knight” each (Quick Effect): You can Special Summon this card from your hand or GY. If this card is summoned, you can take 1 “King’s Knight” or “Queen’s Knight” (From your hand, deck, GY or banishment): Either add it to your hand, send it to your GY or shuffle it into your deck. “Knight” Monsters you control in Face-up Attack Position cannot be destroyed by battle. “Knight” monsters you control in Face-up Defense Position cannot be destroyed by card effects. Once per turn (Quick Effect), you can change the battle positions of any monsters you control._
ATK/1900 DEF/1000
Basically the idea is that if you can get 2 of the trio out, you can special summon the third one easily, while each one summoned can easily search out or mill the others, or,otherwise get the, to where you’d want them. Meanwhile, each of the 3 provides complimentary effects to not just themselves and each other, but ALL “Knight” monster’s you control. King ups their ATK and grants them piercing battle damage, Queen ups their DEF and allows them to get a rampage going with multiple attacks, and Jack provides additional protections based on your knights battle positions AND the added effect to let you change said positions OPT (Quick Effect). All while the cards are always treated as their original selves, while also being able to use said older versions for their summoning and search effects if needed.
The one problem is the “knight” part. That extends to a ton of monsters and would be another “guardian” and “roid” issue. Other than that, cool ideas.
I agree the knight name thing could be an issue but I really enjoy this idea and these effects.
@@windrider2190
I considered that, but unfortunately “King’s/Queen’s/Jack’s Knight” don’t really HAVE any more appropriate words to work with. I suppose King could support “King” monsters, Queen “Queen” monsters and Jack “Jack” monsters, but at THAT position not things start to get… Chaotic.
Still, perhaps it can be turned around into the beginnings of a proper “Knight” archetype.
I would lean more towards the following:
Queen's Valkyrie
(Same stats as Queen's Knight)
This card's name is always treated as "Queen's Knight". You can special summon this card (from your hand) if you control either "Jack's Knight" or "King's Knight". If this card is summoned while you control "Jack's Knight" or "King's Knight", you may add 1 card that lists "Queen's Knight", "King's Knight" and "Jack's Knight" in its card text from your deck to your hand.
King's Royal Guard
(Same stats as King's Knight)
This card's name is always treated as "King's Knight". You can reveal this card and 1 "Queen's Knight" or "Jack's Knight" in your hand; Immediately after this effect resolves, normal summon both monsters simultaneously (no tributes are required for level 5 or higher monsters). If you Normal Summon this card and control either "Queen's Knight" or "Jack's Knight", you may Special Summon 1 LIGHT Warrior from your deck with a different name from the monsters you control.
Jack's Guardian Retainer
(Same stats as Jack's Knight)
This card's name is always treated as "Jack's Knight". If you control two (or more) LIGHT Warrior monsters with different names, you can special summon this card (from your hand). If this card is summoned, you can destroy 1 card on the field up the number of LIGHT Warrior monsters you control with different names.
Not only do each of these play off each other and stick to the original intention, but it also takes away a lot of the hindrances that the original cards had by making it much more flexible in the order of summons. And it gives them unique combo potential as well.
For starters, your Royal King's Knight is ban worthy broken. It essentially turns itself into a 3k beater with Piercing damage on a level 4 with its field effect.
There's no need to make Royal Queen's Knight SS a quick effect. Its field effect is not nearly as broken as Royal King's, but it's still ban worthy broken.
Jack's Knight is actually okay, all things considered. Although as the other guy brought up, "Knight" monsters is too vague and can easily lead to very unintended reaction.
All of their search effects should just be "send from deck to GY". Especially if they're all getting summon self from GY effects.
I don't know if you've done the magnet Warriors but I kind of remember them being a thing Yugi did for a while
And they’re a cool archetype now!
I know it sucks, but I have this deck to thank for motivating me to learn how to play Yu-Gi-Oh again just so I can play the new support it got.
I’d like to see a failed archetypes vid about dinowrestlers (if you’ve not already done one) they’re cool looking monsters that feel one or two cards away from being playable
Perfect timing for the start of my shift thank you dawg
I’ve been calling them the Poker Knights
I always called em the Poker Knights. Plus it makes Slifer their *Ace* monster.
The Poker Knights? The Arcana Knights? Nah, these guys the Knights of Face.

Abridged references are cringe. Also just the name Slifer still annoys the hell out of me. They discarded the perfectly good name of Osiris.
@@ChadKakashi but Osiris is just a usual name of God. And Slifer is kinda stylish. Of course we all know he was called that due to executive producer of 4Kids(or something like that), but if leave that alone, the Slifer is a cool name for a card, I think

We got Jack, Queen, King, Joker… but now we need an Ace Knight.
Neos would like to have a word about decks having time to run normal light warriors
...Suddenly have the urge to play Balatro
I love the Face Knights and wished they had a better payout than targeting protection on a big chungus.
An easy fix is giving the deck 2 cards. 1. An actual good extra deck monster with an omni negate or quick effect removal that requires shuffling a Face Knight from gy to deck. Possibly give it targeting protection. 2. A searcher spell or monster for the Joker s/t. Everything in the deck is a two card combo with no searchers.
The best part of the deck is being able to tribute summon Sphere Mode from the deck during your opponents turn as it has ? Atk and Def. It's the only reason to play the deck. But sadly, it's a two card combo. The trap helps mitigate by being able to repace one of the cards, but you still have to hard draw the other card.
The deck has a fun interaction with Jizukiru, the Star Destroying Kaiju as it's a level 10 monster. The Joker spell, trap and monster all target when shuffling things in the gy. The Face Knights are great at recycling and generating kaiju counters with waterfront. This lets the deck bring out Jizukiru easily and destroy things every end phase.
This deck can summon the Heroic XYZ bosses easily and Constellar Pleiades is a great rank 5 choice. My favorite spicy tech to play is 3 copies of D-Force to summon Destiny Hero Plasma. The face support cards keep coming back from the grave to your hand, so the lack of a draw phase doesn't hurt so bad
This deck is good for playground Yugioh, where competitive is ignored.
Top 10 Decks that need Retrains would be a good idea for a video.
Arcana Knights are not too bad if splashed with utopia!!!Even going 1!
Top 10 Worst classic cards 7: Ancient Sanctuary, or Top 10 Worst Warrior type monsters. Or Worst monsters that cannot be normal summoned or set
For the non top 10 list: The Unknown side of Yu-Gi-Oh: Beasts of the Colliseum featuring Gladiator Beasts
What I assume would be the intended way to use this archetype is to start with at least 3 specific cards to go into either Arcana Joker or Slifer. You summon the knights with Joker's Straight, then you set Thunderspeed Summon, and both/either Court of Cards and Thunderforce Attack, depending on if you go into Arcana or Slifer, and then, if you go into Slifer, you Thunderspeed him out and use Thunderforce at the end of the main phase to wipe your opponents field and draw to power up Slifer for you to OTK on your turn. Court of Cards would just be for you to banish the knights for the extra 3 card draw, which boosts Arcana by 1500 or Slifer by 3000, and therefor not required for the combo to work, though it would be better to have if you go into Arcana since it gains less attack per card in hand. Regardless, it isn't the best end board for how much you need to pull in one hand.
Love this deck, was the first deck I built when I got into the game at MD launch. It is a shame because the deck felt so close to being great, and with a couple of changes could have seen far more success. I will say though that the deck can end on disruption going first, even under the Light Warrior lock, you can use Utopia Double into Dragonar to get a disruptive card out like Hope Harbinger, or use Ptolameaus to rank up into a rank 5 like Pleiades (which the deck can play anyways because Jack and Joker are Light 5s). Imperial Bower being a 1 card rank 4/Isolde without a lock being good is pretty self explanatory. The problem now is that the bar for how good a 1 card combo starter needs to be has gotten even higher since their release.
I think one of the best things Konami can do for decks like these that play normal monsters is change the game rules to let you normal summon 1 normal monster in addition to your normal summon/set. It gives new life to no tribute monsters, and lets decks that already have to play a lot of them way better.
The best thing konami could do for a deck like this is retrain the bricks and make their fusions actually worth the summon on their own.
Jack's Knight did get some use, just not in its archetype. It was used in Extra Deck Monarch because it needed specifically a LIGHT Level 5/6 Normal monster, though toward the end of that deck's lifespan it was replaced by Dark Witch.
Honestly a lot of spinoff decks from Yugi and Yami Yugi really did fail just because of being a bricky mess, one spinoff that I can say that didnt fail as much is Chimera (Its suprisingly fun and very versatile to play)
I’d say Buster Blader has seen some success too. Even though their strategy went from “f**k dragons.” to “f**k everyone.” With a little “you’re a dragon now, so f**k you.” XD
@@windrider2190gives me Eren vibes where the target never changed just who the target was
"Slifer the executive producer" 😂 love that you added that
A simple retrain of the original 3 knights. Like arcana knight spade king/queen/jack for example with 1 each of each of the 4 card suits, so 12 new monster total.
That say that they are counted as original 3 knights, in a way that doesn't have the same problem as aqua dolphin and Marine aqua dolphin has.
The retrains can have protection effects and other effects the archetype needs.
I like the Face Cards-archetype and still play it in my Poker-deck(basically this archetype plus gambling cards^^)
but I’m wondering:
Are the Trap-cards “Straight Flush”, "Full House" and "Three of a Kind" part of this archetype too?
They have no effect that specifically says anything about King, Queen, Jack or Joker but have this specific Poker-hand-term like "Royal Straight".
It is fun when Yugioh references other games. Now that Hanafuda have been covered hopefully we get a chess episode with Puppet King or the Archfiends.
With the right changes to Kings Knight, I could see a future for this archetype in Rush Duels with how many normal monsters they run on average.
This is my go to archtype for xyz based events in Master Duel, because I rarely see others playing it, and games are over quickly win or lose to get through those event points 😂
Finally, an actually “Failed” archetype
They really tried to give it support too
We need in Archetype monsters for Level 1-3
In casual games i discovered that this archetype has really good synergy with dark magician. I remember one person rage quitting because I wiped their board with sphere mode and summoned obelisk during their turn when my opening move was set 2 pass
ironically, these card wasnt good in modern yugioh when it's widely known as solitaire simulator.
I would love to see a video on the Stardust or Archfiend archetypes as those would have a lot to talk about on both ends
The single best way to play this archetype is to pray blinding second with worse utopia can crawl over the finish line & it makes me so incredibly sad
This is actually still solid fun deck on DL thanks to its skill even when the deck is missing some cards from this vid, Arcana “Queen” Joker would have been amazing boss if she only needed light warriors
im surprised it wasn't mentioned how much King's Knight also is a big drawback of the Deck, since his effect is a 'When' effect, it misses timing and forces cards like Joker's Wild copying the effect of Joker's Straight to only work properly if used at the start of the chain, where it is most likely to get negated.
Or how King's Knight only triggers on Normal Summon, making Imperial Bower not trigger it due to the effect Special Summoning from Deck instead of Normal Summoning.
I know it’s bad but with the support from the set that came out a while back it was fun to play casually
face card; no cash no credit
genuinely insane they decided to make jack's knight a level 5 monster
this was my first ever deck in master duel, since the cards at the time were expensive irl, and i find them really cool
i think unfortunately the only way to make them ok would be to retrain the original face card trio with new effect monsters that say stuff like 'this card is always treated as "x knight"' and give them broken effects, which in itself would defeat the purpose since you wouldn't be playing the og cards
Always love your videos!
Maybe the issue isn't the cards but the game itself. It's too complicated and the combos too huge for anyone outside of crazy people who play the game nonstop to enjoy.
The deck is a solid pick if you ignor the fact that you play around Slifer and focus on Obelisk since Obelisk Trap can use 2 Tributes to deal 4000 damage and with the Poker-Archtype this won't be an issue. Add some Horus-Engine 3 Fieldspell 2 Sarco etc. to put Bricks back to Deck to get a Horus-Cards. This makes the deck more expansive but you are able to compete against Tier 3 Tier and 2 Decks.
The alien archetype is one I would love to talk about.
This decks needs a rota for all cards that mention the knights, a link 2 or 3 light warrior with good effects (Arcana Extra Joker is a fucking joke) and maybe a new trap with a good interruption effect because summoning Slifer on the opponent's turn with no protection whatsoever is not it bro
DuelLogs is just mad that he played a +4 and it circled back to him in a +16
Playing a deck that doesn't require you to drop $300 on cardboard, but actually is mildly competitive?
I gives you, Marincess.
Thunderspeed Summons best effect is letting you summon Sphere mode in the enemies turn
Egyptian Gods having support but not as a whole. Maybe they might in the future since Exodia came swinging outta nowhere.
I think the silent cards would be a good archetype to discuss
I play the official Uno video game. You can stack +4s
Man I loved this deck but u made alot great points 😢
I want my queen, king, jack knight's retrains
"To be used in the bowels of Duel Links, Master Duel and your locals" (Or at the site which shall remain anonymous, benefiting from the cards which shall not be described)
Would be cool to see a couple of top 10/worst equip card list that either increase stats or don't do anything to increase stats
I usually go into The Lightning for these guys
Quick question about deck building for anyone who reads; if in an optimised combo a card needs a different specifc card in your deck, is it better to play three copies of the deck card (to ensure there's virtually always at least one in the deck) or one (to ensure you never draw into multiple)?
This video being the example, let's assume king's knight exists in a bastardised version of Yu-Gi-Oh where the knights of face is a good deck actually, is it better to play 3 Jack's Knights or 1? 1 would lower the probability of drawing it but would ruin the combo if you did, 3 would secure the combo but you're more likely to draw the Jack's.
Hi. Face card player here. For this deck specifically. The perfect ratio is running three king, three queen, three joker, three bower, and two Jack. he is the ultimate brick in this deck.
You forgot that his grandfather's deck has no pathetic cards Kaiba. So they have to narrow his cards good every so often
If I see amazons on this I’ll cry 😢
I love these cards. It was the first deck i every built 😢
So this whole archetype can be seen as spider support
Makes me wish there was a version of Slifer made specifically for this archetype
(loads King Rouzer with Rouze Cards)
Spade 10, Spade Jack, Spade Queen, Spade King, Spade Ace
Royal Straight Flush!
Have we ever had an archetype that went from failing to winning?
DRINKING GAME TIME! Take a shot every time you hear Queen's Knight, King's Knight or Jack's Knight
(hard mode: take a shot every time you hear Knight)
"I know you won't call them that but that's their name. " He truly knows his audience 🙏🏼 we love a self aware King 👑
I think the brick issue could be easily fixed by just make effect monsters with good effects and effects that make them share names with the original monsters (basically retrained version of the original trio).
I got to admit, the art on the cards is fire. I wish they had better floating effects.
U.a. is my choice for failed card mechanic. I guess if the deck gets massive support it may one day be a viable rogue deck, but as of right now my love for them ends in failure
They made it a rule in House Rules now lol so you can stack now. It's actually fun
"or me" bruh really thinks he's rolling knights of face at peak.
I'm going to resume this entire series of videos right now.
Everything that didn't reached meta level failed as archetype.
