We would be talking about car maintenance, and she would say, "Don't forget to check the AWL, Michel.", and AS SOON AS SHE SAID IT, she would stop herself and I could tell she KNEW what was coming next. I would always respond something like, "But Honey, what do I need an awl for? I don't wanna be puttin' no holes in the car." At this point she would simply walk away, totally ignoring her husband. Life Is Good!✨🤗✨
I’m from the south, but my mom died almost 20 years ago, she passed before my grandmothers did. I no longer have family in the kitchen cooking-this feels like home to me and I also learn how to improve what southern cooking I was raised to cook. I had an aunt from Fort Worth who sounded just like Paula and she even resembled her. I hope you have this show for Christmas and in the fall. I really have enjoyed it since you started it.
I love how you always scrape the bowl😍... I've always done that too. Waste not want not is what we grew up with. Even if it sounds silly, I cringe when I see people in tutorials that don't clean the bowl and throw away food. Thank you for your friendly, unedited tutorials. Blessings to y'all.

I have clove powder that is about 18 years old. I can't toss it because it is still very aromatic and tastes good. Besides I can't find ground cloves anymore. Don't judge 🤣😂
I won't judge!! If you ever want to get some new clove powder, they have it on amazon. It is fresh and very lovely! I bought a 4 ounce bag for $6.99. That will probably last me years, lol.

I like to put parchment paper across the bottom and just let it hang over the sides, and it lifts right out!! Made some yesterday! Tried a new recipe, lemon zucchini cake, was delicious! TFS
When I make a loaf cake, I put a strip of parchment paper along the bottom, coming up at both ends. I grease the sides only. When I make round cakes, I cut a piece of parchment paper to cover the bottom of the pan, and grease the sides only. I love that I never have to worry about cakes sticking to the bottom. They come out perfect every time!!
Made this bread yesterday and it is gone today! Best zucchini bread I have ever had. The outside was crispy and sweet, the inside moist. My family loved it. They want me to keep this recipe and throw my other one away! Can't wait to make it again! YUM! Thanks Paula!

My Grandmother was full Cherokee from Georgia. She used to bake cakes and put the Rebel flag on them for the fourth of July. There wasn't a prejudice bone in her body. She died a proud Southern Woman at the age of 93. She passed in 1998 Before all of this democrat hate started. I miss her dearly and the simpler times when this Government caused division started.

It is named after the island in Madagascar, not the alcohol that is used to make it but I have heard great things about spiced rums when use to make vanilla. You can also make your own vanilla bean paste as well with vegetable glycerin. That is as long as your willing to wait for it...
My mother had her own beauty shop in the 70's and early 80's and the ladies would bring in different baked items especially around the holidays buy Mom had two recipes a plain but it included crushed pineapple and dates, and a chocolate zucchini bread recipe. I've enjoyed watching you on TH-cam
I substituted cucumbers for zucchini the year we had an abundance from our plants. Bumped up the spices a little too. Everyone liked it. Zucchini is still our 1st choice but it was nice to be able to use up the cucumbers. Hate to waste homegrown goodies. I really enjoy these videos! Thank you Paula and company for sharing with us.
I made this zucchini bread recipe and I put way more zucchini in the recipe (my mistake) than the recipe called for and it was the best. Everyone absolutely loved it!! Learning what to do when there is a mess up is very important and valuable. And when I know I followed the recipe and it messed up, I will write notes on my cookbook so the next time I know how to alter the recipe.

Paula just a little tip if a cake or a loaf will not come out of the pan just tip it upside down on a cooling rack and then put a very cold cloth on the bottom of your pan leave it there for a couple of minutes and it should release
I read that spices will keep and boy do I have some old containers that I still use. Love zucchini bread! I will try your recipe using lemon juice and raisins & nuts. Yum!
I still say and stand by Kirkland cinnamon and the garlic powder. Sniff those two against two other brands and I’m telling you it’s a big difference. My daughter had a fresh jar of both by a big company name and I said to her smell which ones do you like better and it was Kirkland she was surprised pleasantly. Fresh nutmeg from the nut the best. I just made your zucchini bread this morning for breakfast to eat with my coffee. It was delicious, and so easy to mix. I made one-half of the recipe to make one loaf. My daughter just gave me a zucchini this week, so this recipe was perfect. However, I did add vanilla extract to the batter. BTW, I took your advice about putting wax paper on the bottom, and it popped right out of the pan. Thank you for sharing your recipe.

If you have a grocery near you with bulk spices (Sprouts, Whole Foods) you can get a very small amount priced by the ounce. The cost is low. You measure and weigh into little ziplock baggies. Get some little spice storage jars and cute labels to put the bulk spices in.

My mother taught me to put a damp dish towel on the bottom of the pan after turning it over ... it worked pretty good. Another trick she used was to rub an ice cube on the bottom of the pan. It cool the pan and releases the baked goods.

I’m making zucchini bread today. I don’t put raisins in it though. Sometimes I put chocolate chips in it. I line my pans with foil and spray the foil. It just lifts right out. We eat it for breakfast sometimes.can you make your yellow quash casserole with the crackers on top? I saw the recipe in one of your cookbooks. I think in The Lady and Sons. I’ve made it before. It’s really good.

Fresh Market sells spices by the ounce in little plastic ziplock bags. It is fresher to start with than the stuff in tins and bottles and you don't have to buy as much.

Did you just add lemon juice or lemon extract?
D Hoosier lemon juice n zest, didn’t call for the extract, but I added 1/2 tsp along with the vanilla! Uses white sugar only!
I always line the bottom of the pan with paper. Just force of habit for me.

Cantaloupe shakes are great. You can use vanilla bean icecream, french vanilla ice cream or frozen vanilla yogurt. Make it like a regular shake.

I Love Zucchini Bread. I have some Yellow Squash left my one brother gave me from his Garden. I wonder if you could use it too...Either that or Squash Cakees might be in store...😊 I've lways loved this type of bread since I was a kid. My Grandma use to make that stuff..With my Grandma's homemade butter. Was nothing like it....That looks so good Paula. ❤️

If you have a grocery near you with bulk spices (Sprouts, Whole Foods) you can get a very small amount priced by the ounce. The cost is low. You measure and weigh into little ziplock baggies. Get some little spice storage jars and cute labels to put the bulk spices in.
There are stores that sell spices in bulk so you can by as little or as much as you want. Where I live a store like that is called Winco.

My mother taught me to put a damp dish towel on the bottom of the pan after turning it over ... it worked pretty good. Another trick she used was to rub an ice cube on the bottom of the pan. It cool the pan and releases the baked goods.

I’m making zucchini bread today. I don’t put raisins in it though. Sometimes I put chocolate chips in it. I line my pans with foil and spray the foil. It just lifts right out. We eat it for breakfast sometimes.can you make your yellow quash casserole with the crackers on top? I saw the recipe in one of your cookbooks. I think in The Lady and Sons. I’ve made it before. It’s really good.

My friend literally just offered me free zucchini yesterday, and I think this was the sign I needed.
I add crushed pineapple (a small can) to my zucchini bread instead of raisins and it turns out great.
thats why plain butter/oil and flour coated pans work best for me. Can't beat old school.
Fresh Market sells spices by the ounce in little plastic ziplock bags. It is fresher to start with than the stuff in tins and bottles and you don't have to buy as much.

Why not just substitute the carrots for the zucchini?
