This is a great video, I have a 92 XJ and the driver's door hinge finally came off from the body side. Its in storage because she was rear ended in 2020, but I'm slowly replacing items and repairing the damage as I go. I miss my Jeep (306+k miles)
My 92 XJ is suffering from the same issue with its driver door, the body side of the hinge came right off the body. Happy to see a video of that repair.

Love this! Lazarus II has a driver door that the last guy replaced, and it has about a 1/4" gap at the top... I'm going to try this technique once the weather warms up!

@@ProjectDanH I'm glad I saved every last shred of Lazarus I - I have a whole bunch of shims now, so that shouldn't be a problem, I can imagine how they would make all the difference!
For next time, big C-clamp and a socket to press the pin into place. Just a thought. God bless and stay well. Also, glad you dad is ok!

The little wheel in my ZJ door hinge has seen 180k miles and looks ruff, has a little click too...but she's still functioning! .... the 4.0 still purrs like a kitten with the Rotella T6... Dan H. deserves more subscribers than 18.6k ... always great content.

Many of Expeditions flipped over back in the day they didn't center the chassis with the wheelbase . I'm glad pops is okay and wrecked J gets a second chance at life .

An oscillating tool with a straight carbide blade will cut right through the pin with the door in place

I use the harbor freight 125 flux core for the little Things. best 100 bucks I ever spent
I got litheum grease all over on my 92.. never push your door forward. :)

Did you have to weld it the new hinge bolt? I don’t own a welder so was thinking wouldn’t be any good
I only had to weld the actual hinge to the door.. the pin did not need welding.. but if you want to practice welding I used a harbor freight flux core that only cost $120
Where did you get the replacment smaller metal piece? And do you actually need to cut that one?

I did mine and I gotta tell ya… that sucked!
Mostly because I couldn’t get a T45 in there to get it just right…the drilling part was dicey till I realized it was better to cut the plastic sleeves off then drill…
