  • The Best All Around Ladder. The Idaho Painter discusses the ladder kept in all of his vehicles. The Xtend Climb Pro contractor ladder. 2012 ladder review. Xtend & Climb Ladder: t.ly/lKVp | Ladder Levelers: t.ly/va8C
    The telescoping ladder from Xtend & Climb is worth every penny you pay for it. This compact ladder will get you out of tight situations over and over. A ladder recommended by the Paint Life Crew. The best ladder for working in stair wells.

    I love how flexible the ladder is, always reminds me of climbing and old ancient ladder. Those ladders will pinch your hand so hard if you don’t lower the rings correctly! And also, extend has a bunch of replacement parts available, as well as other types of ladders/schafolding. Really game changing company

    I've been painting for 22 years and just a few years ago finally tried this telescopic ladder for the first time, a friend of mine bought one and I was super skeptical at first but tried it at a job one day and really liked it, I'm so use to the standard aluminum ladders but actually felt safe on it and they showed me how to safely release the lever's so I didn't smash my fingers. Actually works very well and it's very strong.

    I have no fear of heights as my job once was servicing micro-wave and TV towers for semi-annual inspection, bulb replacement and adjusting frequency over Walky-talky with TV engineer after lightening strikes. There must be a lot of clones out there and don’t have $450 laying around. Questions; Are soft wall pads available for use with “EIFS”? Also, I wonder about in-even ground? Out side the hill covered in grass slope sideways and behind. On the “I-Beam” type aluminum ladders, I drilled a 3/8” hole in bottom pad to place 2X4’s under to level but welded 9” long metal pins with top hook. Once level, I align the hole in boards & ladder pad, then pin it to ground. Never slips and straight. In 2007, I had house wrap over replaced damaged hardboard, then 2” extruded install w/5” screw plastic head that held & sunk below flush on pre-marked studs (Used nail heads to get stud in 16” X 16” pattern. Skin roughed with wire brush and vertical notched troweled mortar on back, stuck off-set in running bond, but sanded smooth, detail mesh pulled into bed of mortar and field mesh. Non metallic trowel to cover. Now western fires, smoke has driven woodpeckers are poking holes for homes. All at various heights to fill hole, concrete of, hopper-spray finish fine layer, small pattern & taped off to prevent overspray.
    This ladder is perfect as you well know, a ladder is too short, too long, never where you want it. I don’t have room on one end of house, to go backward, then slopes. Thoughts / comments / ideas. This is a great ladder but at 6’ 3” tall and 250 without equipment.
    Thanks for the video, the work it takes to video, edit & upload. I like the ladder!

    I have a blue model I use all the time. The only issue I've had is the bottom rungs are really difficult to lower after use. The levers (instead of buttons) seem to jamb. Any suggestions?

    • @paintpaintpaintco.6039
      @paintpaintpaintco.6039 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When it’s all lowered down except for the last 2, hold the ladder up using the foam grip on the bottom of the bottom rung, this will take off the weight from the switches and you can easily push them up/down

    Loved this ladder for weeks until I realized how annoying it was to retract it when I had it high lol but still quicker then other ladders!

      The last 2 rungs require a different technique to lower, raise it up by the carrying handle and it should just allow you to flip up the switches super easily

    Yeah that reminds me, I also like using the little giants for stairwells and it works on roofs for reaching fascia boards, one time I was using one of the 8 foot little giants on an interview stairwell and I ended up smashing my fingers cause I went to move it further down and the base is so wide that it got stuck between two walls, I had to climb up it to release the lever's and it slammed shut onto my fingers, huge mistake and figured out a better game plan after that😂

    I've lusted over those ladders for years, and I haven important question: I live nextdoor in Washington, and I'm getting ready to paint my home. The backside of my house & garage face west, and the sun has beaten down hard on my siding. Is there a particular paint that will protect those surfaces better than regular latex paint ? Maybe oil based ?

      My advice- no. A high quality modern water based coating will hold up similarly. They should get 5-7 years before major fading

    Can you extend the ladder from the bottom rather than the top? If you only need to extend 4 or 5 steps, doing so from the top leaves a lot of rungs stacked on the better to step above to go up the ladder and the come back down. That seems inconvenient at best and dangerous at worst.

      @@lukekapala1020 what about on the other side of the fence. Will the paint get on the other side when I spray between the boards. Not around the fence but the surface of the back side of the fence. It’s a shared fence and I only want my side sprayed not my neighbors. Don’t want to accidentally get paint on there side.

You haven’t been using this ladder for 10-15 years because I’ve watched your old videos.. and all of your new videos are all advertising. When I started watching you actually showed quality tips for painting and gave good advice now you’re only advice is to get this and get that.

    • @jamesmcconnon2
      @jamesmcconnon2 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Idahopainter telescoping ladders like to close on people and cause accidents.
      Typically they are rated for lower weight
      The stiles bend more than your average ladder
      There is far many parts involved in keeping this ladder functional, none of which you are really able to visually inspect properly, as they are internal.
