    I'd really love if you did a series that was focused on how to get sober in the food industry, or at least your main struggles with it. It's such a major issue in our industry and I don't see a whole lot of content on sobriety focused on it. Most people just tell you to get a new job.

    • @GettingSoberAgain
      @GettingSoberAgain  ปีที่แล้ว

      it certainly was rough being in the service industry, or any other fast-paced industry that's also high stress.
      I always envied co-workers that somehow managed to stay sober in the service industry.
      ultimately, I decided for myself that it was time to leave the service industry shortly after making this video to concentrate on my photography and video production work, including the work for this channel.

    Great Video! Thank you. I’m on day 3 cold turkey . Been drinking since I was a teen. In my mid 30’s. And yeah drinking doesn’t do what it used to .
    But now, drinking is just making me very mean and I hurt peoples feelings and I don’t even remember doing it.
    So yeah, I need to starve whatever monster that’s inside me to death before it makes a full monster of me and hurt my loved ones.
    If being sober and drinking a cranberry ginger beer means everyone around me is merry , then that’s a small price to pay for life.

      @@GettingSoberAgain ha ha! It’s adorable though! Very relatable content for those of us who are former hospitality workers.
      Working in a small micro brewery in my hometown in Western Australia is probably where all my drinking problems began. We’re around the same age, so I get it. Hospitality work was almost a rite of passage. An unhealthy one…. And I wish I could break the cycle of addiction it brought into my life.

      If your goal is to feel better, keep going.
      what are you doing to productively pass the time? I hear people comment how bored they are, but there is absolutely remedies to this.
      Just think about this: there is more entertainment now than ever. more activities. more hobbies. more ways to exercise and stay in shape. more information on healthier habits and clean eating.
      so, are you challenging yourself enough to stay busy?

    Day 6 here! My friend bought me NA beer yesterday. I tired it and it was good. What are your thoughts on na beer

    • @GettingSoberAgain
      @GettingSoberAgain  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Congrats!! My thought is whatever works for you, works for you.
      I personally don't like the taste of beer and feel silly drinking fake beer and going thru the motions. I liken it to if you kicked heroin but put a needle-less syringe to your arm when you wanted to go thru the motion, or snort fake white powder at a party lol.
      I hear of people drinking a 12 pack of NA beer a day after quitting..and I always ask the question "how thirsty are you?..". That's 120 oz of malted beverage, ya know?
      There are so many other and tastier things to drink. Sodas, Kombucha, tea, energy drinks, MILKSHAKES lol
      Good luck to you! Keep us posted. People become more interested in the comments after awhile and your story matters!

    I'm trying to figure this whole issue out. The gym part of it really makes me think. I am a regular drinker and can deadlift 440lb at the gym, I go in hungover often and hit strong sets. I couldn't imagine how much potential i'd have if I didn't do that. Thats what I keep telling myself but I never really work it out... Trying to think of what kind of replacements I can put in to place to start the recovery process. Any suggestions folks? I'm 31 and have been dealing with this for over a decade.

    • @GettingSoberAgain
      @GettingSoberAgain  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Who's lifting 440lbs, you or alcohol? You are made of atoms and stardust that are billions of years old. The fact that you are here against all odds in itself is a miracle. Start treating yourself like the miracle that you are, and doing what you need to preserve that body which will inevitability start breaking down, in pain, before returning to startdust. I hope for you that you see life start to get better before it gets worse
