I want to quit because I'm sick of not remembering. I'm tired of losing what should be great memories. I'm tired of having zero motivation.

I want to get sober AGAIN, and STAY sober finally, because I cannot stand thinking about how much time I waste being drunk. I am learning from this channel , and others like it, the true garm I am causing my body and mind with alcohol. I want to stop hurting myself, I want to treat myself and my life with love and respect, so I can actually love and respect myself. I am so grateful I found this channel in particular. Thank you!

I have gotten so much from your videos that I decided to go through them chronologically. I appreciate your vulnerability/ looking half wrecked in early episodes. That's me today - trying to commit to my sobriety journey. I have received so much inspiration from your recent episodes and delight in seeing the change in you that being alcohol free has created. I want that change in me! Thank you.

Thats exactly what I’m doing , after watching Jays more recent videos decided to check out his earlier videos . The first thing I notice how less energy and enthusiasm he has , no offence Jay . Still very inspirational , I’m 4 weeks sober after 40 years drinking , I feel great but and worried I’m going to fall off the wagon . I had a nasty accident 11 years ago where I smashed up my pelvis and snap my leg and as well as the prescription drugs I self medicated big time . This lead to all types of f#€k ups , when I started waking 😢 up on the floor in the garage , kitchen or where ever . Then there were fights with friends , arguments with my partner , I was becoming an arsehole . That’s not me , I a hard working , bright nice guy and I’m enjoying being sober . The key is to not drill on the past and live for the present . I’m keeping fit with SUP surfing , mountian biking , and snowboarding all things I can do with my friends and family . Thank you Jay with help on my road to sobriety ❤

Over 2 years later and still your message is timely. We drink a lot by most peoples standards, and we also show up to work every day and take care of everyone the best we can. Now we are headed for retirement! Our bodies won't last with this bad habit, and we won't be able to afford it either on a fixed income. The hardest part is the first couple of days - I've quit many times and need to quit for good this time. I will catch up on your episodes.

That look of kindness and compassion from my loved ones, ok.. shes drunk again. We know what we're getting here. Every single time. All of them. Here we go again.... Their eyes say.
Thf best apology i can give is get sober.
Still. Ny eve 2 days ago. I planned my fizzy water, planned early escape, planned sober pilow, told friends no thank you to drinks....
the party happened. Full of anxiety. Drank one glass of wine.
Boom. 2 bottles of champagne and stupid late night later. Here we go again.
But it was a very lovely evening so im happy my last drink leaves a good memory with us all. I hate i drank but we all did and it was a beautiful time.
Im happy to leave drink not hating myself. This time.
.., one sip is not safe.

Day 1... again. I'm doing this journey basically alone. Your videos help me feel not so alone, so I thought I'd start at the beginning of the series. I turned 40 this year and promised myself I would kick this habit for good. Wasted my 30s. Missed so much due to the ever present mental fog. My anxiety is out of control. My weight is out of control. It's finally all coming to a head and I'm just sick of being this person.

I need help. I only drink beer but every night. I want to quit. everything you says makes sense. I think I’m more scared of dealing with my own emotions sober because there have been choices I made earlier in life that I hate myself for. And I’m scared of dealing with that shit. I also went from having toxic friends I got rid of to having no friends, to having friends that I feel wont be the support I need. Not sure how to make this step forward on my own

You're going to have a hard time finding a single person in this community that hasn't gone through every single thing that you just mentioned.
For years and or decades we neglected our emotions and emotional growth, and drank to escape reality
We all have to do the work, catch back up, reprioritize what matters and earn this thing called sobriety . There's no greater feeling than knowing that you did this for you

Because I'm tired of going down the slope of alcohol and going on mini benders every few days...waking up feeling mentally numb and unmotivated.
I keep asking why do I do this to myself? What kind of life is it when every few days I'm recovering from a hangover?
I'm a senior in engineering school and should be thrilled about graduating this year, yet alcohol keeps taking so much from me, mentally, physically, and financially.
I've been struggling in silence with it for years, and after a terrible hangover some days ago (end of semester binge drinking one night) I'm finally to a point where I don't want alcohol.
Again I'm starting on my sobriety, and after only 2-3 days I feel better already. I notice how my skin looks better, I don't have such negative thoughts in the morning, less irritable, sleep better, etc.
Alcohol is just POISON in every which way.
The temporary sedating and numbing effects aren't worth all the damage it causes my mind, body, and soul.
