The ballet flats with the jeans were so cute! I think it would work better with jeans or full length dresses. Also NYC!! How exciting !! Every city has its pros and cons of course. People typically keep to themselves, but are kind when you need help. I hope the trip works out for you guys!!
I'm so excited to see you in NYC!! You will have the best time 🥰 I cannot recommend Boston enough if you guys have time- it's only 4 hours on a train and so easy to get too from New York. The most beautiful city!!
19:00 In my opinion, the ballet flats with the jeans def go hand in hand! I was genuinely surprised 🤍 In Australia, I used to wear those types of shoes (had the strap over) in primary school with my winter and summer uniform - and truly, a pinafore type dress and stockings go so well with those ballet flats. Alternatively, you could wear knee length socks ☺️
I went to New York a few years ago and the highlights from my memories are walking along the High Line, shopping at Chelsea Market and for coffee, I remember really loving Blue Bottle coffee!
Loved NYC. We stayed right next to Times Square which was incredible. We went up the Rockefeller building for views as you see central park and the empire state. Really cool building. I'm a theatre nerd so Broadway is an absolute must! Sometimes the weather can influence your enjoyment. We went in late March so it was spring. The wind absolutely howls through the city when it is windy so I can imagine it could be extremely cold in winter. We had stunning weather. One windy day but mostly great. Madison Square Garden was great. Went to an NBA game there. Sport loving hubby loved that and I did too! We loved just jumping on the subway and exploring. SOHO is cool, lots of great food places.
I was in New York last summer and I loved it! If you wanna do all the tourist stuff I recommend getting the New York City pass. With the pass you get cheaper prices and don’t need to wait in the long queues. And the big Barnes and noble was magical. I would also recommend walking over the Brooklyn bridge. I also don’t like big crowds but I managed fine. Love your videos
I’ve actually never heard anyone say they hate NYC! I’m from the U.K. and I can say I absolutely LOVED IT. It’s so magical 💕 I also don’t like crowds and I coped fine! Sending lots of love xx
The flats are super cute with the jeans! I actually can't pull of balket flats, my toes are too long 😆 Loved this cozy vlog and the verses you always put in the opening 🥹
Levain Bakery has THE BEST cookies in NYC!! They have multiple locations. I think you guys would love it! I would also recommend getting a Metro pass. It’s $34 with unlimited swipes for a week. So helpful when you are trying to see as much of the city as possible.
My husband and I LOVED Pasta Eater in NYC! 🍝 The Summit is a great attraction to get photos of the skyline! I would recommend booking a time later in the day, the morning fog can affect the view. And of course Barnes and Noble was magical.
I live in New York! Would definitely recommend doing all the touristy things but also make sure you try and go to a Broadway show or something like that! They are beyond amazing, and are such a fun part of the city. Even just walking through the area is great!
I grew up in New York! Like an hour outside the city. We visited every summer after we moved away! Definitely check out the freedom tower, and the Staten Island ferry to see the Statue of Liberty and not go to the island. It’s hard to see it from the island and better views from the ferry. Ellis island is cool if you are interested in history, and definitely get a good New York bagel! I could go on but those are the bits that came to mind!
I went to New York twice in college. I really enjoyed it! Yeah it's busy and crowded, but it's the biggest city in the US. I think for your first time, it's 100% worth it to do touristy things but if you get overwhelmed easily, it might be better to pair something busy with something calming each day (so like a museum with Central Park, for example). Helps with the sensory overload! As for places to go, I would really recommend the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. I think you can them together in one go. And definitely try and see a Broadway show while you're there!
i don't know when exactly you will visit new york but i would love for you to experience it in autumn with all the vibes🍂🧡 i remember you talking about how autumn is so different in australia and you love the vibes of it in other countries🧡
I loved NY, I'm not a fan of big crowds but being there hits different. I went when I was 16, I'm now 28 but my family and I got the New York Pass which we highly recommend! You save a tonne of money on entries to big attractions and can give you the ultimate guide to your trip!
I live about 35 min (no traffic) North of Boston. If you're planning on coming later this year you'll want to start ordering warmer clothes. It gets much colder here than it does where you live. Try to catch a show either in NY or Boston. I went and saw Moulin Rouge the musical with my girlfriends earlier this year. There's so much history in both places. You're going to have a great time visiting!
i went to nyc last summer and had a lot of fun !! moma and the met were both really cool museums to walk through, and the new york public library was beautiful too 💕
Rachel!!! I live in boston and the city is so up your ally. There is so much gorgeous history and architecture, it’s slower pace than new york but just as much to do, so many amazing bookstores. If you have the time 10/10 think you would love it.
Went on my first solo trip (22) to New York this past January!! I LOVED IT, can’t wait to go again. BEST TIP: PLAN what you want to do by areas/neighborhoods
ive never been to nyc but surely you have to go to the ripped bodice and other themed book stores !! and the big barnes & noble hehe 📚 like a book store crawl!
I went to NYC for my 21st birthday earlier this year! I highly recommend Carnegie Club on a Saturday for Frank Sinatra night! You'll need to make a reservation online (the same goes for everywhere in NYC; you will need the app Rezy to make most reservations). The jazz club vibes are everything!!! Note that it is a cigar bar and has a strong scent if that's something that could overstimulate you!
I’ve been waiting for bestie Rachel’s vlog all day. Just so comforting and exciting to watch your vlogs! Love you so much! I have a lot of your videos on a frequently watched comfort playlist. 🫶🏻🫶🏻
There is a cafe called ‘Serendipity 3’ in New York from the movie Serendipity, it’s definitely your kind of vibe ! I went over 10 years ago and loved it ! 🥰
Love NYC!!! Cookies- Levain bakery the oatmeal raisin was so delicious. Central Park was amazing- there was an area in Central Park that had baseball fields and playgrounds and it just amazed me people actually live there. Soho is a beautiful place to see visit/stay. I also took a helicopter for the nyc skyline so if you wanted to spend a bit extra of $$ I’d recommend it!!
I am so happy that you’re going to get to travel. I’ve never cared to go to NYC because I’m not a big city girly but I think it’s so wonderful that you’re going to get to go especially if you and Liam have always dreamed about it. I think you definitely pulled off the ballet flats. I think I liked them best with your jeans. I love your pink top you wore with soph to lunch. It is so so cute. Anyways, I am so happy to have another video of yours to watch. I look forward to to your videos every week
I’ve been to New York a few times and love it! Ofc I’ve only ever been to the main touristy parts but still had fun! Loved Times Square and Central Park but you have to try and go see a Broadway play. Nothing like it!
Nyc tip: if you want to do the main touristy things get the citypass. Most of the major attractions are included and that will make your overall experience a lot cheaper. For hotels, most of the tourist spots are around midtown so for convenience/fun purposes you could get hotels at times square, the Marriot there is nice but you will pay extra for the location. For transportation the subway really is the best/only way to go, but it can be pretty stressful and confusing if you are not used to it, so definitely plan ahead at a calm location exactly which lines you will need to take and plan to be back by midtown or your hotel area before night bc some lines close early and it’s the biggest nightmare to get stranded. There are a million things to see and do in nyc but some of the less traditional things I’ve done and loved were going to a show by the american city ballet and renting a car for the day to drive to long island. My favorite popular attractions are broadway shows, the natural history museum and central park (walking, biking, ice skating). Hope this helps ❤
I went to nyc with my boyfriend in October and I have really bad anxiety and hate crowds. I loved nyc so much as have been trying to plan another trip and hopefully live there one day. It is such an amazing place and there is always something to go do!! There is a 3 story Barnes and noble in union square that I spent 4 hours in. It’s a must in my opinion if you go!!
Im a nyc native born and raised queens in nyc! U have to see a broadway showw!! Time square and union square theres this resturant in union square near the strand bookstore called max brenner soo good! Also walking is ur best bet with certian areas and then uber and then subway! But beware it is very heavy crowded and we know a tourist when we see one lol! So dont be scared when you see the hustle and bustle its just ppl going about their daily life lol! But enjoy
Under the Empire State Building, there’s a restaurant called Tacombi! It sells Mexican and it’s sooo delicious! Also if you’re going to see Central Park, go to the Upper West Sidd of the city too! There’s a place called Strand Books near there and a whole street full of restaurants. And the building are old and beautiful with ivy climbing up the sides. It’s such an eclectic place. If you’re gonna see the Statue of Liberty, take the Staten Island Ferry. It’s free, some people might try and sell you tickets for it. But it’s free! Don’t take a guided tour, you drive straight past it on the ferry, get off on the island and hop back in the next ferry going out. My Mum and I did that and the views were great. Love from Perth ❤
If you're going to NYC, defs see if you can jump on a North-East tour to see Niagara Falls, Washington DC (I feel like you and Liam would love the Smithsonian Museums) and Boston! Means you see a lot of the US while not having to worry and it starts and ends in NYC
I have been to New York multiple times and I feel like you will LOVE it! Central Park is one of the most magical places in the world 🐝 💕 I am a homebody too and don’t actually love travelling, but New York is so worth it ❤️🍎 I hope you both have the best trip xxx
We went to NYC for 5 days in April this year and got engaged at Central Park 🥺❤️ I would definitely recommend liberty bagels, joes pizza, los tacos no. 1 and the walk along the Brooklyn bridge! I usually hate crowds too but NYC is my favourite city in the world and I reckon you’ll love it. It’s just magical, there’s no other place like it!
as a new york bestie my biggest biggest tip i’ve given to all my family overseas is avoid times square. it seems like the best place as a tourist but it’s so overstimulating and just overall a bad time trying to get through the crowds and find out where your going. i love the city but the one place i never go to is times square haha soho is basic but awesome and greenwich is so beautiful with beautiful parks!! ps. liberty bagels and bagel market is my fav
i have two besties and one lives in america atm and the other one lives 10 hours away, so even though we both live in qld we rarely see each other and it sucks, but it's such a blessing when we visit
you need to try zucker's for bagels they are one of my favourites! also if you want to do a lot of different activities eg museums, observation decks you HAVE to get the new york city pass, it one pass that gets you into so many places for one price making it so much cheaper!
I think you’ll enjoy New York because you want to go there and know what to expect. I went with a group of people and I wasn’t particularly excited to go and I didn’t really like it. It was humid and cloudy and as someone who gets claustrophobic the buildings were too tall and close together for my taste. I enjoy more nature.
I’m from Massachusetts and would recommend fitting in Boston if you have the time. It’s fairly easy to get between the two cities either by bus/plane/train. Whatever you decide to do, I hope you have the best time! I’m also not great in crowds but I LOVE NYC. It’s so fun.
Definitely take the trip to New York!! I visited for the first time in February (which is a super cold time of year in NYC and everyone warned us not to go) but my best friend and I ended up loving New York so much and we would not shut up about it. While I was on my Europe trip a few weeks ago my best and I decided to book another New York trip so we’re going again next month!!
Rachel I am watching your vlogs since years ago and I really really appreciate you so so so much you are my inspiration and I wish you have a blessed weekend😭😭💗💗
NYC is worth it to go! So much to do! We stayed in Lower Manhattan at a Marriott and it was a great location. The subway is awesome to use! Def recommend seeing a show on or off broadway if possible!
You should get a ‘C’ table for the library/guest room so it’ll fit under the sofa and you can put your tea and book on but it can be a side table for guests when they stay. You’re right don’t clutter up the room with a coffee table!
Yeah I can see why you’re excited to go to Barnes!😂 I‘m traveling to London soon and I‘m so excited even to just go to Waterstones because here in Switzerland we don’t have such huge book stores! It’s so sweet to see you with your friends considering that I’m not having any but that keeps my hopes up that one day I’ll find friends like yours 🙏🏻
I used to live in NYC! Loved living there in my early 20s but couldn't do it now lol. If you have time, take a walk around Washington Square Park (The Strand bookstore is pretty close) and if you feel like doing some shopping, SOHO is great. Have fun!
my one main recommendation for new york is don’t stay in times square!!! if you want to stay in midtown (closest to everything for a first time visitor) i’d recommend staying by central park!
Omg!!!! I’d definitely recommend Boston! I’m from Massachusetts and I went to college near boston and its so much fun! Its an older city with so much charm and so much to do!! Its more relaxed than NYC but theres so much to explore! I’d definitely recommend the north end in boston and the public gardens + boston commons! Ive heard the duck boats are amazing too! And I’ve been to NYC a few times and it was so much fun! The top of the Rockefeller building is really cool!! And they do ice skating too!
I love ballet flats. I've never done the extra strap across the foot cause I thought I would get a weird tan line/make my feet look clunky with extra material. Maybe try a flat without a strap and see how it looks/feels? I think the shoes can make your feet look slender but dainty with your outfit. Yosi Samra is my go-to brand for ballet flats. Very comfortable and stylish.
So excited for you to visit NYC!! I HIGHLY recommend visiting during fall over here (September-November) to see the trees change color, go pumpkin picking and carving, cider, and enjoying a very Norah Ephron New York fall ❤️ even better if you visit Boston you can see the foliage on the way up there. The Northeast is best in the fall My sister lived in New York for a while and she loved the Met and MoMA museums, you definitely need to go to Barnes and Noble and the Ripped Bodice, and Central Park for some space from the crowds! She used to work at an Australian coffee shop chain, Bluestone Lane, so I guess I’d recommend it but maybe it’s not as much of a novelty for you as it was for us 😂
I've been to America multiple times (from Sydney) and i absolutely LOVE exploring America but i've had no interest in visiting New York.. It might be amazing but i am just not a city girly at all. It is a good thing that i know that about myself 🤭.... BUT i just know that you might get the chance to meet the Book Girlies and THAT makes me excited for you. 😍
As a boston girlie I am SO BAISED and think you should stop in Boston. It is similar to NYC, just in my opinion SO MUCH BETTER. Love your content so excited for you to experience the US!!💕
I was in New York City last summer and it was the best trip ever! So I cannot wait for your opinions on NYC! I stayed actually in Hoboken, NJ, since NYC is pretty expensive if your a looking for an apartment and not a hotel room. It was totally worth it, in less in 20 minutes you are in lower Manhattan and Hoboken is really cute! I also recommend the Magnolia Bakery and visit the spots from your favourite TV shows which take place in NYC of course. I am very certain that you will love NYC as much as I do
Looks better with the jeans. As a midrange millennial you might prefer the ballet flats we wore without the strap compared to mary janes with a strap especially if you're on the shorter side
I think it would be nice to meet some people/friends during your trip to whichever city you and Liam will go to. They may help ease the anxiety you may experience during the trip. So include such meet ups with the tourist sites. Have fun and enjoy the experience 💛.
one thing I highly recommend (besides or instead of the Empire State Building) is visiting top of the rock!! A plus you get there is you can actually see the empire state as well and when I used to live there it was cheaper as well! (But don’t hold me to that cuz that was well over five years ago😂
I would cry happy tears if all the book girlies took on NYC or anywhere! You, Haley, Sara and Des! 💕
Same! I almost commented this😂
I was just about to comment this too! Honestly, dream book girly content. 😍✨
Ok well I'm crying I actually will never get over the fact I have friends like you Rach 😭
I’m planning on buying your cook book for my mum. I love your content and I’m so excited to see your recipes. And everybody needs a friend like Rach.
The way Rachel laughs with Liam 🥹🥹🥹
the date with liam at the beginning was so cutie and wholesome🥹
I love the little glimpses of you and Liam's relationship 🥰 you have a great balance of respecting your own privacy and showing some cute moments.
the ballet flats actually looked good! I think we all have that dysmorphia when trying new things!
ballet flats with the skirt actually made your legs look so good!!!
The way Liam slapped that pasta oh my...my Italian ancestors are shaking in their boots.
19:00 In my opinion, the ballet flats with the jeans def go hand in hand! I was genuinely surprised 🤍
In Australia, I used to wear those types of shoes (had the strap over) in primary school with my winter and summer uniform - and truly, a pinafore type dress and stockings go so well with those ballet flats. Alternatively, you could wear knee length socks ☺️

100% agreed I went in jan and I can’t get over it months later! Was everything and more 😊

NYC a few Christmas's ago, from Australia, was 100% the best experience of my life!

What a stunning vlog Rachel! I LOVE your crochet blanket - it's beautiful 😍
go to the strand bookstore, it’s only a few blocks from the Barnes and noble bookstore. I’d also recommend staying in the west village
The ballet flats look so good with the jeans, I think the skirt makes it look like a ballerina outfit, especially with the pink!!!
I am so happy that you’re going to get to travel. I’ve never cared to go to NYC because I’m not a big city girly but I think it’s so wonderful that you’re going to get to go especially if you and Liam have always dreamed about it. It was humid and cloudy and as someone who gets claustrophobic the buildings were too tall and close together for my taste. I enjoy more nature.
i went to new york last october and let me tell you it was incredible
I’m from Massachusetts and would recommend fitting in Boston if you have the time. It’s fairly easy to get between the two cities either by bus/plane/train. Whatever you decide to do, I hope you have the best time! I’m also not great in crowds but I LOVE NYC. It’s so fun.
the ballet flats are sooooo cute! I think they look stunning in both outfits, but I think I prefer the jeans with the flats!
The flats are definitely beautiful with the jeans love! Like if you had black ones with that outfit it would look so CUTE! ❤
This vlog was so cozy, i love it 😍🩷
You should get a ‘C’ table for the library/guest room so it’ll fit under the sofa and you can put your tea and book on but it can be a side table for guests when they stay.
Have fun!
The ballet flats looked so cute with your skirt!❤
my one main recommendation for new york is don’t stay in times square!!! if you want to stay in midtown (closest to everything for a first time visitor) i’d recommend staying by central park!
The Northeast is best in the fall
My sister lived in New York for a while and she loved the Met and MoMA museums, you definitely need to go to Barnes and Noble and the Ripped Bodice, and Central Park for some space from the crowds!
Yes to the ballet flats with the jeans. They weren’t quite right with the skirt.
I‘ve been to New york a couple times and I just love the Vanderbilt and Chelsea Market. Even if it’s two touristy spots I still love it there!!
I am very certain that you will love NYC as much as I do
Great vlog💕. I'm so excited for you to go to New York. I've never been but I really want to go there one day.
Can’t wait for the travel vlogs and potentially book bestie collabs 👀 Also, the flats looked cute with the skirt! 🩰
Looks better with the jeans. As a midrange millennial you might prefer the ballet flats we wore without the strap compared to mary janes with a strap especially if you're on the shorter side
I felt ok with NYC. Lots to do and eat, but never felt compelled to go back. I also go to Boston every month and hate it more every time I go lol.
I think it would be nice to meet some people/friends during your trip to whichever city you and Liam will go to. They may help ease the anxiety you may experience during the trip. So include such meet ups with the tourist sites. Have fun and enjoy the experience 💛.
Loveee the flats with both outfits❤
omg how am i so early lol anways love ur vlogs rachel ur litr a comfort youtuber 🌷🌷💌
Try wearing sheer black tights with the ballet flats !
one thing I highly recommend (besides or instead of the Empire State Building) is visiting top of the rock!! A plus you get there is you can actually see the empire state as well and when I used to live there it was cheaper as well! (But don’t hold me to that cuz that was well over five years ago😂
