- Popular actor, John Ritter, has died. He was 54 years old.
Jonathan Southworth Ritter (September 17, 1948 - September 11, 2003) was an American actor and comedian. He was the son of the singing cowboy star Tex Ritter and the father of actors Jason and Tyler Ritter. Ritter is known for playing Jack Tripper on the ABC sitcom Three's Company (1977-1984), for which he received a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award in 1984. He briefly reprised the role on the spin-off Three's a Crowd, which aired for one season, producing 22 episodes before its cancellation in 1985. Ritter appeared in over 100 films and television series combined and performed on Broadway, with roles including adult Ben Hanscom in It (1990), Problem Child (1990), Problem Child 2 (1991), and Bad Santa in 2003 (his final live action film, which was dedicated to his memory). In 2002, Don Knotts called Ritter the "greatest physical comedian on the planet". His final roles include voicing the title character on the PBS children's program Clifford the Big Red Dog (2000-2003), for which he received four Daytime Emmy Award nominations, as Paul Hennessy on the ABC sitcom 8 Simple Rules (2002-2003) and an uncredited role for providing the normal voice as Three in Seven Little Monsters (2000-2003).

That's right! I used to watch that a lot on PBS Kids. Never knew it was him.
But now we got his son on Gravity Falls
We lost a great man and comedic genius
It's hard to believe he passed away almost 20 years ago! we will never forget him as the voice of Clifford as kids growing up during the new Millennium!
I still can't believe he's gone.

I remember hearing about his death first thing in the morning while in bed .. at the time, I would usually fall asleep listening to talk radio .. so that day it was like 6 am and I was half asleep just starting to wake up and I hear "and so long John Ritter .. the actor passed away last night etc etc" ... the memorable thing for me is how she said it .. I'll never forget it .. she sounded chipper saying it .. and her use of 'so long' .. it's as if she was referring to a very old person who's death was expected .. but this guy was only 54 and his death was completely unexpected and shocking .. it was just weird the way she said it .. I've never forgotten it on top of the shock of hearing that he died .. wonder who that lady was lol
I'm remember when my alarm clock when off and that was the first thing I heard on the radio. I thought I dreamt that John Ritter died but it was for real. I didn't have time to ponder about it as I had to get dressed and get ready for school.
That's how I found out about John Ritter's death. My alarm clock went off and I had it set to AM Radio Station. I heard something about Ritter but I assumed I was dreaming so I hit the snooze button. When I fully woke up it shocked me that it wasn't a dream. It was actually true. Ritter's death would be the top news story of that day. RIP.

It didn't surprise me. 5 days before he died he looked sick ....all pale and tired looking
I’m 18 but grew up watching threes company and nobody knows the show so I’m considered as weird 🤦🏽♂️ but I will always love threes company rip jack 🤧💜
It’s an amazing show. Stick with the classics and don’t worry about what the others know or think. You’ve found a great one. John was one of the very best.

Then we lost another famous John, Johnny Cash the very next day. Sad two days for the entertainment world.
So tragic and terrible to see him passed. No wonder why the original Clifford series was left dormant for 15 years. Way more tragic than Hyundai withdrawing from WRC (same month in September) during the 2003 WRC season. We all missed Ritter, very much.
John Ritter passed away 6 days before his 55th birthday.
On his youngest daughter’s birthday too, her 5th birthday.
@@karendobbs8153that is a very dark and bewildering day for her I imagine.
I live with that genetic defect both my mom and aunt died of aortic injury. I have to get an ultrasound every two years to make sure I am not developing one. If I am, I can have surgery to correct the problem. I’m just so sorry that John Ritter didn’t have that option at the time. Rest in peace.

John Ritter died 20 years ago today (September 11, 2003 - September 11, 2023)
It will be 20 years since we lost him and John Ritter was in his 50's though
And it just happens to be the 11th and I'm just hearing about his death rip clifford
I still remember this day. I was watching TV at home and this made me cry. John Ritter was the first celebrity I have a memory of even liking. I watched everything he did. I loved those Problem Child movies especially. He was also very good in the 1990 TV Miniseries of the Stephen King book It, if you haven't seen it and you're a fan of John Ritter definitely go check it out! It's good! Stay Tuned is also a great movie he starred in with Pam Dawber from Mork & Mindy.
My Grandfather passed by an aortic aneurysm shortly after Christmas. It was unexpected and quick.

My grandma my dad's mom sang with John Ritter's dad Tux Ritter for A LOT!!! of years and my dad who died in 2020 always wanted to get a hold of John Ritter but never tried to or did and I wish in would have... Rip to both of them

I remember his death clearly, it was the day after my 10th birthday. For some reason, at the time, I remember hearing that he died from a “hole in his heart”.
