How To Run 90mm LS3 Gold Blade Throttle Body On Gen 3 LS1 VS Silver Blade C5 Corvette

  • It is commonly believed that you can't run an LS3 Gold blade throttle body on a gen 3 411 PCM and that you have to run a Silver Blade LS2 unit. It seems with a simple tweak in HP Tuners and NO wiring changes that may not be the case after all.

@@PNW_Car_Mods I know what you mean. Since they went to 15% ethanol a few months ago, I have really noticed a drop in fuel economy. I've decide that I'm only going to buy the non-ethanol gas from now on. The extra $2-$3 a tank isn't going to be that big of a deal considering I'll be getting about 30% better fuel mileage than with the 15% ethanol blend.

Victor to run any of the 4 bolt 90mm throttle bodies on a C5 Corvette it requires an adapter harness. Commonly available from lots of places for under 20 bucks. On the stock C5 throttle body there are actually two connectors. One for TPS and one for the blade motor. These get merged two into one from the C5 harness to the new 90mm TB single connector. Hope this is not confusing.

I also still have brand new gm ls3 gold blade when I hooked it up yesterday, It works the throttle moves fine , the only problem with this one I can't install it because I have this 92mm FAST intake manifold it's longer then the stock so when I try to install it , the plug on the throttle body hits the serpentine belt tensioner , see in your situation u have a supercharger with a snout that kinda offsets your throttle body, for my case to clear their belt tensioner I would need like almost 3" spacer adapter, so I'm kinda stuck

Because I literally spend all day in my garage trying to make this truck throttle to work and no luck. I flipped the wires so may different ways and probably turn the ignition on over 30 times to test, still keep getting P1515 code or P1221..I think its probably something have to do with pcm , because I can't find a darn this online that shows the wiring diagram on this truck one, I only found one picture shows what each pin the connector is, not sure if it's correct or not

The Silver 90mm throttle body will work with the LS1 to LS2 adapter. To run the adapter on a truck application 1999-2002 (which uses the exact same throttle body and TAC module as the LS1 minus it facing the opposite way), you need to switch the two wires inside the 2 prong plug which will reverse the current for the opposite direction of the same throttle body on the truck application. This allows it to run on the Stock PCM, because the adapter makes the computer think it’s still plugged into the factory throttle body.
