I played Dead Island and Riptide hundreds of hours more rhan most games. Dead Island Riptide has many small quakity of life improvements like faster looting etc from the initial game. The remaster of DI 1 has all these improvements by default. Riptide actually has a much better story snd the overall story, side quests, locations, and gameplay meah together much smoother than the original game. It has some of the best elements of DI1 in a much shorter and densely packed game. Many of the new mechanics are pretty redreshing and a nice chnage of pace.

honestly, I feel like riptide would have been more liked if it was just a 20$ dlc expansion and not its own full priced game.
The original Dead Island was already to big to add Riptide as a DLC.
As it was originally intended to be.
So they released it as a sequel instead.
