    Great information and very well presented!
    There is a large lake to the northwest of the area you show on the map, over a hill top. This area has lots of open space, so there is plenty of room to set up a good sized starter coal generator power facility. Also, like you did, It's always easier to place pipe junctions in the appropriate spots before trying to connect pipes.
    Of note, in the generator information screen, you can double-click the clock speed or target MW and type in what you like. So to hit the target throughput of 40 water per minute, you could do the slider bar manually to set it at 89% or you could fine-tune it by typing in to set the clock speed to 88.888%.

    Haha as soon as I saw the truck depot I got a flashback to when my truck straight up disappeared 2 or 3 years ago and I never set up one of them ever again.

      My first tours I programmed ended directly in chasms. Only because I failed to turn the truck around in the loop and it had to improvise this. On my canyon bridge ... I feel you :D

    I just set up my coal power as well. I'm surprised you used the vehicle depot for transferring coal to your generators. When I would watch letsplay videos before getting Satisfactory, the trucks were always having routing and unloading/loading problems or causing inconsistency problems, so I never really used it besides driving around. I played this a few years ago and quit after like tier 4 or 5, but I'm trying again since release. I'm trying to go more aesthetically pleasing this time, so I used the pipes on bottom, and conveyor lifts and splitters above so they wouldn't clip. I just did what I did last time and walk to the first large lake with surrounding coal nodes and make the traditional 8 power plants and don't worry about it for a while. Great Video Ic0n!

      So far the truck delivery lines are working well! Probably got patched a lot. I had a few issues setting up the tracks, but after that it went down swimmingly
      And yeah, the clipping stuff is just ... I am a lazy person with not enough time at their hands, don't judge me too hard :D

    So belts first, pipes later... That is so much easier!
    Finished mine like 30 minutes ago and it's a mess. And took forever to make... I hate pipes...
    Next one will be easier to make now.. Thanks!

    Best setup is 3 water extractors and 8 generators being fed by a pure coal node (until you get level 2 miners). Connect the extractors to each end and the middle of your water input line. No underclocking needed.

    • @LilArt_Lilcya
      @LilArt_Lilcya 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, mathematically 3 to 8 works out. But that is a water flow of 360m³ don't you need mk 2 pipes then?
      Also 8 is a lot :D I think underclocking is a nice idea to start and later add more. Luckily underclocking is not a permanent setting.
      I like to first start things and optimize later, but that's personal taste I guess. I do understand people wanting to have it perfect from the beginning, but maybe an "easy guide" is the wrong place to look for perfection ;D

    • @CraaaaaabPeople
      @CraaaaaabPeople 24 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @lilcya6637 no need for mk2 pipes, just connect a water extractor at each end of the pipe feeding the generators and the 3rd in the middle. It keeps all 8 100% filled. The effort to reward ratio for building 3 is way too low. If you are going to find the coal and build the infrastructure then you might as well get some juice out of it.
      Also, that is the start. I'll usually set the first one up to get off the biofuel and then build another 2-3 banks of 8 directly after.

    • @Ic0nGaming
      @Ic0nGaming  24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It should only work as long as the generator block doesn't try to draw 360 water/min. So once more than 5 sixths of the power generation are requested this system will use 360/min. And I don't know how this works if it works, cause the pipes say 300 water/min tops. Maybe I'm wrong here but:
      I'd love to know how it works to avoid the fluid limitations of Mk1 Pipes. Cause according to the tooltips it doesn't make sense at all.

    • @CraaaaaabPeople
      @CraaaaaabPeople 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @Ic0nGaming because you are feeding 120 in either end and the middle. The middle feed is the key to keeping the pipe pressure up constantly no individual pipe needs to carry more than 360 to feed the block. Trust me, try this out. It will make you happy.
      For bonus points and to keep it clean, try to build the generators directly on top of the extractors. I sacrificed a bit of power and used pumps on each line, but it might all fit within the extractor head pressure if you use a thin foundation.

      @@CraaaaaabPeople I was wondering if that really works, so far I just theorized the maths. And it depends a little on how realistic fluids are programmed :D
      As to the scale of things, it's my first factory game, I didn't start out with the maximum possible. I built 4 generators with 2 pumps and the plan to come back later if I need more power

    can you link multiple factory's and have 1 place that all my power comes from? if i had like 8 plants all linked up and 1 cord going back to base, will it stack the output?

    • @Ic0nGaming
      @Ic0nGaming  28 วันที่ผ่านมา +8

      Well I called it an easy and quick setup for a reason. Also you leave no points of improvement, you don't even pinpoint what is so horrible about it. Like what is inefficient exactly?
      I can only say it's a good setup if you just want to get it done quickly. Sure you can do MUCH more around coal, but that's not been the point of this video. I wanted a quick solution which everybody can replicate until they get deeper into more complicated builds.

    • @CraaaaaabPeople
      @CraaaaaabPeople 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It's inefficient because 3 is a really weird number to land on. It used 45 coal per min which is too much for an impure node but not enough for a normal node. And then you underclock it, losing 19% generation capacity. Should just go with 4 generators and 2 water pumps, then underclock the pumps, not the generators.

      @@CraaaaaabPeople Ah, finally an answer with maths. I agree insofar that it's a bit more power you are cranking out. But there's more than one way to do the thing.
      Your method overproduces Water, mine overproduces coal. Your method uses one pump more, which also uses 20 MW just to provide for one powerplant. I see my method as way easier upscalable, while your method maintains more energy output.
      There's plenty of ways to do it, power output is for me personally not the only metric of efficiency. And I love the fact that there's many methods. I wanted to feature one that (hopefully) everybody understands and can replicate.
      I respect all machines as long as they do their job. And I love if we share different builds and all.

    • @CraaaaaabPeople
      @CraaaaaabPeople 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @Ic0nGaming The magic number is 8 generators, 3 extractors, which gives 360 water in, 360 out. Connect the exteactors to each end and the middle of the pipe that feeds the generators. It also takes exactly 120 coal, so it's very easy feed. Which would be the next step after 4 +2. Then, just keep building banks of 8+3. Super scaleable.

    • @Ic0nGaming
      @Ic0nGaming  24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@CraaaaaabPeople Yeah but 360 Water in requires Mk2 Pipes which you unlock with oil. Nothing wrong with your build, it's just not very early game compatible. Mk1 pipes only carry 300 water/min. My video is not calling it an EASY setup for no reason. Sure you can make much more efficient stuff with higher quality building parts. But that's not what you're starting with.
