People simplify them as just prisoners and make them seem like criminals. But if you actually look into the charges and the way evidence was gathered etc.. it seems that for petty simple things they are being imprisoned, interrogated for long periods of time. For example posting in social media as an Arab in Israel in support of Palestine can land you in one of those prisons. The discrimination of Palestinian in Israeli prisons needs to be further investigated. In addition its alarming how many child prisoners they hold.

Zionism isn't even a religious belief. In reality, the leaders of the modern Zionist movement that was created in Europe weren't motivated by religion. Many of them were actually secular or agnostic Jews. They saw the Jewish people more as a nation than a religious group. For them, Zionism meant establishing a separate political state for the Jewish nation. Originally Uganda and Argentina was proposed as a homeland for the Zionist before Palestine. *To put things into perspective, in the year 1891 Jewish people owned less than 1% of land in Palestine,* *where as Palestinians owned 99%. In 1947 that number was still at a low, with the Jews owning below 5% of Palestinian land.

The MET police are involved because Israel has dual nationals in the IDF who have travelled from Britain, called up as reservists.
They are now involved in a claim of war crimes and therefore under international law have to be questioned up on arriving back into the UK.
Britain seemed to have a problem with British war tourists fighters returning from Syria.
Yet suddenly its ok if its Israel, a country that has consistently broken international law and UN mandates for decades.
Israel has had its fair amount of terrorists designated as such under international law.

The "horrific attacks by Hamas" are pre-dated by years of killing of civilians, including the clear targeting of teenagers by IDF snipers, and years of "occupation forces" operations, with impunity, in Gaza, and years of indiscriminate bombings.
While Hamas definitely acted as terrorists, many of the acts attributed to them *never occurred* , and some of the "mass executions" occurred during Israeli "rescues", with no accounting of how many Israelis were killed by " friendly fire"; some of the tales of people supposedly burned alive show evidence of them being hit by helicopter-fired missiles... In short, the netanyahu government spread lies and hyperbole, in order to stir up sympathy for their revenge attacks, attacks far beyond any reasonable proportionality!

I hate this absurd attempt at binary options. Do you care about Israel? Well clearly you don't care about Gaza. Do you think war crimes are bad? Well you don't care about Israel!
Here's a valid option, I don't like Netanyahu or his policies. I didn't like them in the past and I still don't. I also don't agree that he should be allowed to commit war crimes. I don't think his current policy is making Israelis safer.
Conversely I don't support Hamas because, in part, I don't like the violent deaths of children. If that holds true for the actions of Hamas why can't I also hold a democratically elected government to those same standards? Why are the deaths of children less tragic when they're state sponsored rather than the actions of terrorists? I, in fact, dislike all violent deaths of children and think ethical governments should try to avoid them at all costs.
There is plenty of space in the middle and people from all different backgrounds have been making that case for months. It's not difficult.
It's the supporters of Netanyahu who want to make this an argument where his actions are "protecting Israel" and dissent is anti-Semitic.
Normal people can despise terrorism, anti-Semitism and war crimes all at once. It's not a difficult position to have, but the media likes to treat people with those beliefs with incredulity. As if it's so unbelievable that if they just ask enough questions you'll find out no one really feels that way. I suppose that way they can go back to ignoring war crimes because anyone who disagrees with war crimes is immoral so they don't really count as war crimes? Honestly I still don't understand how that's supposed to work but I've seen "oh you say you think Israel might be committing war crimes well that makes you the real villains!!" to assume there's some reason for it.

It has no enforcement mechanism, and certain countries like the US and Russia have ignored its rulings before. But even symbolically, or in terms of optics, it can have ramifications. Certain countries can choose to take actions in the form of diplomatic, economic, or other forms of sanctions, and point to the ruling as their basis for doing so. Even organizations that wishes to say bring forward other related cases against Izrael can point to the rulings of this court.
All of these are simply potential ramifications though. It always comes down to whether anyone will act on it.

You have absolutely zero excuse months after this siege began to be still leaning on the excuse the you are not a lawyer, and nobody should be saying we shouldn’t be discussing whether Israel’s actions could constitute war crimes. International law on this is already written. The truth is you have all consulted with lawyers on this and the advice they have given you if you don’t want to be honest and call Isreal out is to feign ignorance of the law, the equivalent of no comment. But you know. You all know that Isreal is almost certainly beyond a shadow of a doubt committing war crimes. We have all seen the evidence for months on end and you are still here gaslighting the public over it. Bring an expert on international law on to your show and ask them. I dare you. And the fact that Starmer who is an expert on law cannot bring himself to answer basic questions over is nothing short of a pure disgrace.

The British people are being treated as plebs whose views do not matter .
The horrific near-recent history of the Jewish people and the terrible October 1300 massacre in Israel do not “ok” the siege on the Gaza population still without basic supplies and water, the destruction of their hospital provision , the massacre of civilians, the maiming of thousands of children being put in the situation of amputation without anaesthesia and the destruction of Gaza.

The case was not symbolic at all, the trial of the case may take years, but if the court finds, in the weeks that will be taken to consider the case, that the case has substance and will be heard by the court. The ICJ can issue a statement that should stop Isreal from further action in Gaza - a seize fire. Though the ICJ can not force Isreal do what it says, it can definitely deter it and put pressure on Isreal.
