  • In this video i work on a new bushcraft-style slingshot concept. The trigger is super simple but it works fantastic and reliable. This is a Swiss Army Knife bushcraft project.

You are single-handedly responsible for my choice to switch from a single-blade folder to a SAK for EDC. I've never regretted that choice, so thanks for all that you do.

I’ve EDC’d many many types of knives over the past 48 years, I’m 56… For the past 15 it’s been all SAK. For me, and I think I can reasonably say, for most people, it the most useful and practical carry. Unless you have a frequent specific need for a single blade folder, IMO they’re overrated.

Actually, same here. I grew up in the country, in the woods, and on a farm. I always carried dedicated tools, but now thanks to Felix I have all those tools in my pocket. Lovin' my ranger.

I don't know if you are aware of this but there is another gentleman of similar accent and infectious enthusiasm with an interest in this area. The few antique versions of this that I've seen are really beautiful and are still very accurate apparently.

That is a clever idea and uniquely designed trigger. You should try to mount a spool underneath to hold fishing line to "shoot" your baited hook in areas to tight for casting.

60 years ago, when I was a kid, we just carved a good fork stick(I've still got it), used strips of certain types of bicycle inner tubes, and a piece of an old boot. We'd go down to a stream to pick smooth rocks(puttin the quartz ones aside). We would practice for hours. When we found an old Coke bottle, that was what the quartz rocks were for. A square hit with a quartz stone, made those thick bottles explode.
Practise and "feel" for your weapon is more important than the frame and trigger. I've shot almost everything from slings to 105mm guns. In most cases, it was how well you had drilled with the tool. During NAM, every M16A1 I fired was a tack driver but most .45 pistols were badly worn.
In a field situation, I would just weave a sheppards sling from a 12' paracord. A good video. Good Luck, Rick

I have a commercial version of your slingshot rifle, its a little straighter, a little smoother trigger action, a little bit more sophisticated BUT a LOT more expensive, and at the end of the day it does exactly the same thing. Well done, its a wonderful project and a great demonstration of ingenuity with simple tools and natural materials(except for the rubber bands for which there is no substitute unless you own a rubber tree).

The trigger mechanism is good. That is the most difficult part that you have made simple.
