I asked you when you are going to upload the UL episode about 3 months back when you posted that picture, and you said it might be a while….and I told you I might be dead by then. Just to let you know I’m alive lol Anyways thanks for keeping it real as always. Screw reviewers like Josh Cahill and NonstopDan. They whine and complain about everything. I’d rather watch a sponsored Sam Chui video instead. Only flight reviewers I can watch now are you, Jeb Brooks, Layover Channel and Patrick O’Shea. As a Sri Lankan I love UL. On a LAX-SFO flight, United will come up with some random excuse to not even do a beverage service but UL will offer a decent meal for even a one hour flight. Back in the day (more than a decade back), even economy passengers got a full tray for the Chennai flights. The last time I flew that sector it was a snack box but it was still really good!
Rather than trying to shut down negative publicity, they should work on giving customers a positive experience. I have been in their business class and economy class since 2000. Service is still friendly, food quality has gone down, and aircraft are ancient, they need to refurbish the aircraft if they can't afford new ones. Attention to quality details is not very strong among Sri Lankan airlines.
❤❤❤❤As a Sri Lankan, I take pride in the dedication and professionalism of our flight captains and crew. They always strive to ensure the safety of every flight. However, the administration needs significant improvement. The planes are over 20 years old, and ticket prices are often higher than those of Singapore Airlines or Emirates. This situation is unacceptable. It's time for a change or to consider selling the airline.😒😒😒😒 On the other hand, filming and photography should not be banned inside the aircraft, as long as the privacy of other passengers and safety concerns are respected. In today's world, everyone has personal phones, and this is a basic expectation.😂😂😂😂😂
Just LOOOOOVEEEEEE your videos. They are quite incredible! I've seen some famous TH-cam channels - but nothing as good as yours. Most of all I adore your honesty and fairness - because sometimes some flights and or hotels are very good and some of them not so good, but what you do is being honest as you are - you just say about the prices and it does need to take into account the prices whether for good or bad. Some others tell about their experiences, however not fair - because of their expectations or because they have been paid to 'say whatever needs to be said' regardless of the flight or hotel been good or not.
Looking forward to your Slate review! I stayed there last year and loved it. Lovely private pool villa, nice grounds and variety of pools, good food. Easy access to the beach and local bars/restaurants. And close to the airport. Ticked all my boxes.
Question if you happen to see this. I'm writing the script now and another guest's perspective on this would help. When you checked in, do you remember what (if any) materials you were given about the resort? (I was given a photo copy of a map). Additionally, did they- at check in or any other time- explain anything about the concept, design and history of the resort to you?
@ Funny you ask. We arrived quite late in the evening and it was a quick and painless check in. However we were handed one piece of paper. A letter advising us not to swim in the ocean due to an oil spill…. That’s all I remember as it sent me into a mild state of shock as I had been looking forward to the beach (obviously beyond the hotel’s control). I honestly don’t recall if I was handed a report map or not. I don’t think so. We were driven to our room in a golf cart by a friendly staff member though.
Gotcha, thanks for that. My point being (and to make in the video) is while I love the resort, the fact that the staff don't explain the history of it as it relates to the tin and rubber industry, how it's the first ever resort in Phuket, how it's owned by the great grand daughter of the most famous Governor of Phuket, how it's designed by Bensley as an homage to said great grandfather... I just felt like it was a huge missed opportunity and made some things about the property feel gimicky given I hadn't a clue about any of this while I was there. My comparisson was to the JW Marriot in Phu Quoc, also a Bensley property where the staff live and breath the 'story' and tell the story very well from the moment you arrive.
Well, i remember this silly youtuber bashing a renowned Middle Eastern airline, saying that the cabin crew didn’t smile at him, didn’t take care of him being a business class passenger. But we can clearly see the cabin crew serving him every now and then in that video. Anything for views.

Same as you, I have been stopped twice while filming, but both times the crews made it clear what's allowed and what's not. One was on KE, where I was doing a shot of the cabin WITHOUT ANYBODY in sight, then a crew told me I can film but not their crews. I apologized, they backed down, and allowed me to take pics with them. Second was with CX and that was partially my fault. I was shooting the meal service and I accidentally pointed my camera towards her as I was picking up my tray (I usually do it discreetly so that the crew's face and other pax's face are a bit blurry). But she was the only one not willing to be filmed; others were okay with me doing so. I apologized, she only said OMG and left. But it's clearly sad to say that one bad apple can ruin it for everyone. This is partly the reason why I started asking for permission for filming since 2022. But even so, even American, that is so notorious for uber-enforcing their photography policy, wasn't even mad at me for filming... Flown CX twice, and filming wasn't an issue in the other flight. Flown KE 8 times, and filming, too, wasn't an issue on my other 7 flights. That being said, I wasn't aware of the Korean privacy law at that time, and once I realize they have such laws, I decided to better be safe than sorry and stick with SQ, NH, JL, BR, and JX afterwards.

Perhaps at Chennai Airport there might be a separate Premium Check-In Room (maybe with direct security access) which handles check-in for Business Class passengers of every airline and the regular check-in area only as Economy Class check-in desks?
UL had frequent cancellations from Hyderabad, plus erratic flight schedules. I checked on FR24 and was not a promising venture. I cancelled my ticket and booked on 6E via MAA
Hi Kevin. Great video as ever. Just a small point. On the trip stats the distance should be 647Km. You have ther 4 and 6 reversed 😂😂. Thanks for bringing the review🙃🙂
Think about it this way. For the sake of the question let's assume you're a doctor. "I really enjoyed your lecture! But how do you find time to operate at the hospital as much as you do? I barely have time to go for a check up!" It's my job... so... this is what I do lol
I flew in business class on the exact same flight but in an A330, they had a business line section but all of the economy class passengers kept skipping the line and going into the business class section which slowed down the process
Privacy? There is no privacy in a public place. It's a plane. Not inside a toilet or a change room. Also - re you reading the contract. That is not ironic. That is coincidental. Irony in basic terms means a contradiction or opposite. Not coincidental.
I agree that the rebooking procedures are among the most cumbersome that I've experienced when compared to other airlines in the region, having encountered the similar situation nearly ten years ago when I was stranded in Kuala Lumpur. Throughout my numerous flights on Sri Lankan Airlines, the crew has always been very accommodating when it comes to filming onboard However, this is likely because of the frequent re-uploads made by this "silly TH-camr," who goes all out with his constant complaining, which has gotten worse over the past few months In any case, I really like how straightforward and clear all of your reviews - undoubtedly a channel that inspires me to a great extent
I secretly wish airlines would strike back at the silly clickbait people and just put them on a no-fly list. Their main purpose is just shaming airlines for the most ridiculous reasons.
Sri Lankan airlines were one of the best in the world. They have won so many awards too. Then came the family regime . The Rajapaksasa's. They thought they owned the Sri Lankan airlines. Flights were delayed just for one of their family members to board the flight. Sri Lankan airlines were called UL. Then it was branded "usually late". One time one of the Rajapaksasa brothers sent an entire flight with no passengers to Swissland to pick up a puppy for his wife. It's a shame that this has happened to this beautiful island. Only hope and pray that the new government will restore all the distraction that the previous governments have done.
"So many airlines" is entirely the point in my book lol. As for qualifications, I think about it nearly as much as how many accidents my Uber driver has had or how many of the drivers on the road are intoxicated while I cross the street. It's all relative.
Regardless of the amount of J Class seats. There should be a dedicated J Class check in. Perfectly acceptable for that agent to attend to a Y class Pax, when no J class Pax is waiting. But not having a J Class check in 😮
Idk what happened to Sri Lankan airlines but when I went on their business class product on the A330, exact same flight I took multiple photos and videos. I feel some of the Sri Lankan airlines staff don’t want to be there anymore
They’ve had some good TP runs from the Middle East to CGK, but I wouldn’t be booking one again given the high number of cancellations. Good crew and food though!
Sneakers in airports = smooth walking shots. Look at my airport videos 2 years ago (when I wore flip flops) and you'll notice quite a lot of jarring "steps"... The only time I ever do actually wear sneakers these days is when I fly, becuase of it.
When you compare Madras with Calcutta airport it is so depressing. WB indeed is a very backward state - the airport is barely any more than a domestic terminal with barely anything. After security they have hardly any choice to eat and drink and was horrified to see a cup of tea was $7 AUD nearly!
I experienced the same thing last year.. with two cancelled flights from BOM on the same day. Then i was able to fly to Trivandum (air India) and take the Sri Lankan flight to CMB. But the person at the Mumbai office was very helpful on the rebooking. Please cut some slack. Sri Lankan went through alot and it seems like right people are at the right places managing the company now. Please give some time and they will bounce back.
Nice ❤️ From 🇱🇰 Nah Josh is Cool person 😊 Sri lankan Air line Need to think What Josh told...Do not Over do...persons need some documentaries. Thats need to allowed.
Yah, originally I was going to say "Queen's English"... but realized all that would do is get me 18 comments about colonization... so I went with "RP" assuming 97% of people wouldn't get it and being perfectly fine with that 😅
Well Kevin, two things: 1. I see you've encounter the "problematic fellow youtuber" issue. Its unfortunate you were treated like that, but in a way, I can't entirely blame SriLankan. I do have some sympathy for them. Why? It's not you that's the issue, its...shall we say, certain "flight reviewers" who act like a-holes, causing a nuisance to others onboard and so forth. I'm not going to name them, I think you know who those usual suspects are. You know what they say, it only takes a few bad apples to ruin it for the rest. That's why we can't have nice things. I don't know what the solution is, except just make sure you act with courtesy and consideration for others, not that you haven't done that. But maybe giving a compliment to the crew here and there...won't hurt. 2. How old are SriLankan A320s? Do they plan to replace them them all with A320neos? They do already have a few A320/A321neos in their fleet right?
Nice ❤️ From 🇱🇰 Nah Josh is Cool person 😊 Sri lankan Need to think What Josh told...Do not Over do...persons need some documentaries. Thats need to allowed.
Airlines business is not for everyone as not many can run them profitably. Yes, it will work as a subsidized organization that connects places but it won't earn any money
That’s why personally, I am of the opinion that countries need to do the following for things to improve. 1. Negotiate more open skies agreements 2. Negotiate more Code Share flights on new routes. 3. Offer easier visa procedures. 4. Sell unprofitable carriers to other Airlines. African carriers would be a prime example, of the most to benefit from these changes!
Yes was the silly TH-camr Josh Cahill as isn't that where he lives or based out of Colombo, Sri Lanka. I know a couple people that have flown on Srilankanairlines and they said they were good for what you pay. Brisbane, Australia to Colombo, Sri Lanka RT like 1 1/2 years ago. Don't know what they paid, but like I said they said it was good for what you paid. They flew Economy not business like you,
Your life could have been so much better if you had spent a few nights at the Ahu Bay Hotel in Sri Lanka. It’s truly the best place I’ve ever stayed, and knowing we share a similar budget and sense of style, I’m sure you’d love it too!
Last year, I was flying from Colombo to MAA on an A330-300. Normally, I don't film the flight attendants, but while walking towards the door, I briefly lowered my camera and only filmed their feet. Suddenly, one of the crew members grabbed my camera and told me that I couldn't film. I was shocked by their rude behavior. After I landed at MAA, I made a complaint to the ground staff, but I don't believe any action was taken.
Putting restrictions on people filming never ends well. That said - would probably be better if there were easier tools to blur faces in videos. Flew UL once under the EK days and remeber it being decent, though the CMB lounges werent great
All it takes is for one blogger to ruin it for everyone (and we all know who it is). Frankly speaking I've been seeing videos by this 'silly youtuber' pop up always on my newsfeed on fb. And some videos are dated (from during the covid - you can see from the masks being worn by cabin crew which they don't do anymore). Claims that he made that the airline is falling apart are absolute nonsense. Yes the airline is in the red in terms of financial numbers - and their cabins may be dated compared to the Gulf carriers. But Sri Lankan airlines doesn't have the resources which they do. And for what it offers - Sri Lankan airlines is really good. Their meals, hospitality, and if you are lucky and get to fly their 330/300's then you are in real luck. But even their 330/200's are good. I had the chance to fly them in business class on their 330/300 a few months ago to Bengalaru to connect onto a European carrier to Europe, and I was surprised with what they offered. The hard product and food on a short flight which they offered is miles ahead of what the European carriers on short haul flights offer in Europe. So yes - the 'silly youtuber' takes things out of proportion, exaggerates, and there is a lot sensationalism in it. It's videos like yours that helps put things into perspective. So the cabin crew should have not made a fuss and allowed you to film. Safe travels! :-)
As a Sri Lankan I am sad that my favorite airline "blogger" was given a shabby treatment by my national airline. These dumb cabin crew and Airlines officials must realise that, TH-cam videos are a powerful source of information. Some passengers choose Airlines after watching TH-cam videos.
But they're also a powerful sourse of misinformation, so I can genuinely understand the reluctance, but there are simply much better ways to go about enforcing policies (if they exist...)
My guess is the silly TH-cam’r was a fella whose initials are JC😏🤔 Guy seems always to have some ‘drama’ going on? Nice video and the food looked yummy - except for the faux Crème Brûlée? As an aside, I’m always fascinated by the standard of hotels in these ‘third world ‘ countries.
Did the drama between 'silly youtubers' worth more popcorn? Maybe yes. Did they made all airlines they so called reviewed better? Definitely no. Ironically the u all know grey and dark red anonymous mystery Arabic airline that one TH-camr has always criticised for paying other TH-camrs for propagandas is actually, in my own personal perspective, doing the best job among all airlines at least in their business class, after covid. LOL.
@aasamspb967 he is having beef with everyone... it's how he operates. He finds mistakes and centers his reviews around them. Example his last upload: He was sick, and the crew took care of him, but instead, he was highlighting an off duty pilot not putting his chair up right and stuff. (I also don't like that he will show people's faces)
Thank goodness for people like Josh picking up on airlines behind the scenes games, slack safety standards and shoddy performance. I’m grateful to him.

Perhaps at Chennai Airport there might be a separate Premium Check-In Room (maybe with direct security access) which handles check-in for Business Class passengers of every airline and the regular check-in area only as Economy Class check-in desks?
8:22 was that pamphlet given to you during this no filming debacle lol
UL had frequent cancellations from Hyderabad, plus erratic flight schedules. I checked on FR24 and was not a promising venture. I cancelled my ticket and booked on 6E via MAA
Hi Kevin. Great video as ever. Just a small point. On the trip stats the distance should be 647Km. You have ther 4 and 6 reversed 😂😂. Thanks for bringing the review🙃🙂
Really enjoyed the video! Btw how do you find time to travel as much as you do, I barely have enough time to do 1 or 2 trips a year 😅
Think about it this way. For the sake of the question let's assume you're a doctor.
"I really enjoyed your lecture! But how do you find time to operate at the hospital as much as you do? I barely have time to go for a check up!"
It's my job... so... this is what I do lol
Good show. If possible shows with planning trip and purchasing. Thanks
You're wrong about no aircraft on order for Srilankan 03 A-330 Airbus aircraft will join the fleet in January 2025
Throughout my numerous flights on Sri Lankan Airlines, the crew has always been very accommodating when it comes to filming onboard
However, this is likely because of the frequent re-uploads made by this "silly TH-camr," who goes all out with his constant complaining, which has gotten worse over the past few months
In any case, I really like how straightforward and clear all of your reviews - undoubtedly a channel that inspires me to a great extent
have you stayed at the fishersmans cove by taj in chennai? if so, how was it?
Nope I haven’t
The movies etc. looks very Emirates from 20 years ago - guess there's a reason for that.
Great vid.
MR FLOPPER ISNT SILLY! 🐬
Thank You. ✈️
"Because of some silly youtuber video" I bet we all know who that came from.
I secretly wish airlines would strike back at the silly clickbait people and just put them on a no-fly list. Their main purpose is just shaming airlines for the most ridiculous reasons.
not the worst honestly
or maybe they can just improve and give their passengers the service they deserve?
That is a can of worms that would quickly put this entire trip reporting niche out of business in half a heart beat.
You fly so many different airlines. Are you ever concerned about the qualifications (or lack thereof) of the flight deck crew?
Please fly from Banglore new international terminal 2 and review it I recommend flying the a 380 emirates or 747 Lufthansa for the experience
I have videos arriving and departing from the terminal on my channel already...
what are your thoughts on the josh situation?
As if there was only one “Josh situation” lol. My comment on all of them is: 🤐
@@tfft respect.
@@tfft best policy, lest he comes after you like he did Sam Chui.
At this point, you might as well change the name to the channel to The Sneaker Traveller. Great vid as usual though.
After security they have hardly any choice to eat and drink and was horrified to see a cup of tea was $7 AUD nearly!
ghanta, it's only that the terminal is newer... it's not much less tacky than the Cal one.
@@anonymouslyopinionated656 Chennai airport is much better than Kolkata one.
Does Josh still live in Sri Lanka ‼️⁉️👀
Yes... we can all put 2 and 2 together. ;-)
That main dish looked spectacular. I involuntarily blurted out "Wow".
It was definitely tasty!
Air Lanka was renamed Sri Lankan its the same airline not prefecssor like Air Ceylon which was shut down and a new airline i.e Air Lanka replaced it
And I explained that in detail…
Kevin - If you were to write a blog I'd subscribe.
That makes... one of us lol

You just love drama not honest reviews
@andropahsa3904 We know josh did to Sri Lankan airlines is 100% correct. We dont know others air lines.
other people dislike you recording
33 flights in 30 days, bro is taking more flights in a month than most ppl take in 30 years
A job's a job :)
Not bad for an airline that is struggling to survive
6:53 as in Received Pronunciation?
Yah, originally I was going to say "Queen's English"... but realized all that would do is get me 18 comments about colonization... so I went with "RP" assuming 97% of people wouldn't get it and being perfectly fine with that 😅
@ lol
Well Kevin, two things:
As a sri lankan....sorry for what her saying....

Airlines business is not for everyone as not many can run them profitably.
Yes, it will work as a subsidized organization that connects places but it won't earn any money
That’s why personally, I am of the opinion that countries need to do the following for things to improve.
1. Negotiate more open skies agreements
2. Negotiate more Code Share flights on new routes.
3. Offer easier visa procedures.
4. Sell unprofitable carriers to other Airlines.
African carriers would be a prime example, of the most to benefit from these changes!
That silly youtuber is Josh Cahill 🤣
🤷🏼♂️
@@tfft Love your content mate. Keep up the good work
Yes was the silly TH-camr Josh Cahill as isn't that where he lives or based out of Colombo, Sri Lanka. I know a couple people that have flown on Srilankanairlines and they said they were good for what you pay. Brisbane, Australia to Colombo, Sri Lanka RT like 1 1/2 years ago. Don't know what they paid, but like I said they said it was good for what you paid. They flew Economy not business like you,
12:22 Un-Brûlée-d 🤣
Gotta call it like it is lol
We all know who was ment by that.... silly youtuber
W video
Is that a video that is more than V but less than X?
Your life could have been so much better if you had spent a few nights at the Ahu Bay Hotel in Sri Lanka. It’s truly the best place I’ve ever stayed, and knowing we share a similar budget and sense of style, I’m sure you’d love it too!
I have Indian and Sri Lankan parents, let me tell you I was not surprised when a Sri Lankan flight left early.
Flew UL once under the EK days and remeber it being decent, though the CMB lounges werent great
ha ha, you don't "write" (you film). You talk like a lawyer.
Many years at a very HR centric company lol
Josh is a legend 😊
@knightofceylon-ms1us So glad that you speak in the past tense "legend" about Josh. He is losing his way.
" *is* a legend " isn't past tense lol

My guess is the silly TH-cam’r was a fella whose initials are JC😏🤔
Guy seems always to have some ‘drama’ going on?
LOL.
I guess Josh Cahill has done it again and made it harder for other people to review
Certainly not making things easier lol
Sorry dude. I maybe living under a rock. But is there any controversy that Josh Cahill has other than his beef with Sam Chui.
@@highcoonlinea pilot breaching safety regulations is ridiculous. I don't think he deserves to be blamed for filming him
