This airline used to be very accomodating but Josh kept raking muck on them, just for the sake of it. For a company that's still not over its financial jitters, they can't afford continuous negative raps.
@@andreeldridge8457But any criticism should be done in a professional and impartial way. Josh Cahill is verging on sensationalism and over exaggeration, which doesn’t help with any constructive criticisms which SriLankan Airlines need.
@@andreeldridge8457 While I agree with the general sentiment, Josh's presentation is to nitpick minor faults and magnify them to create clickbait titles. Unless, of course, the airline is owned by Bin Salman or implicit perks are forwarded like with air Tanzania and Ugandan Airlines.
I asked you when you are going to upload the UL episode about 3 months back when you posted that picture, and you said it might be a while….and I told you I might be dead by then. Just to let you know I’m alive lol Anyways thanks for keeping it real as always. Screw reviewers like Josh Cahill and NonstopDan. They whine and complain about everything. I’d rather watch a sponsored Sam Chui video instead. Only flight reviewers I can watch now are you, Jeb Brooks, Layover Channel and Patrick O’Shea. As a Sri Lankan I love UL. People complain but the soft product is unparalleled. On a LAX-SFO flight, United will come up with some random excuse to not even do a beverage service but UL will offer a decent meal for even a one hour flight. Back in the day (more than a decade back), even economy passengers got a full tray for the Chennai flights. The last time I flew that sector it was a snack box but it was still really good!
I secretly wish airlines would strike back at the silly clickbait people and just put them on a no-fly list. Their main purpose is just shaming airlines for the most ridiculous reasons.
Same as you, I have been stopped twice while filming, but both times the crews made it clear what's allowed and what's not. One was on KE, where I was doing a shot of the cabin WITHOUT ANYBODY in sight, then a crew told me I can film but not their crews. I apologized, they backed down, and allowed me to take pics with them. Second was with CX and that was partially my fault. I was shooting the meal service and I accidentally pointed my camera towards her as I was picking up my tray (I usually do it discreetly so that the crew's face and other pax's face are a bit blurry). But she was the only one not willing to be filmed; others were okay with me doing so. I apologized, she only said OMG and left. But it's clearly sad to say that one bad apple can ruin it for everyone. This is partly the reason why I started asking for permission for filming since 2022. But even so, even American, that is so notorious for uber-enforcing their photography policy, wasn't even mad at me for filming... Flown CX twice, and filming wasn't an issue in the other flight. Flown KE 8 times, and filming, too, wasn't an issue on my other 7 flights. That being said, I wasn't aware of the Korean privacy law at that time, and once I realize they have such laws, I decided to better be safe than sorry and stick with SQ, NH, JL, BR, and JX afterwards.
I experienced the same thing last year.. with two cancelled flights from BOM on the same day. Then i was able to fly to Trivandum (air India) and take the Sri Lankan flight to CMB. But the person at the Mumbai office was very helpful on the rebooking. Please cut some slack. Sri Lankan went through alot and it seems like right people are at the right places managing the company now. Please give some time and they will bounce back.
Looking forward to your Slate review! I stayed there last year and loved it. Lovely private pool villa, nice grounds and variety of pools, good food. Easy access to the beach and local bars/restaurants. And close to the airport. Ticked all my boxes.
Just LOOOOOVEEEEEE your videos. They are quite incredible! I've seen some famous TH-cam channels - but nothing as good as yours. Most of all I adore your honesty and fairness - because sometimes some flights and or hotels are very good and some of them not so good, but what you do is being honest as you are - you just say about the prices and it does need to take into account the prices whether for good or bad. Some others tell about their experiences, however not fair - because of their expectations or because they have been paid to 'say whatever needs to be said' regardless of the flight or hotel been good or not.
Last year, I was flying from Colombo to MAA on an A330-300. Normally, I don't film the flight attendants, but while walking towards the door, I briefly lowered my camera and only filmed their feet. Suddenly, one of the crew members grabbed my camera and told me that I couldn't film. I was shocked by their rude behavior. After I landed at MAA, I made a complaint to the ground staff, but I don't believe any action was taken.
Indian flight crew and frankly Indian working outside the country have a lot of issue with making up "official rules" as they go. A month ago I was charged triple baggage fee transit through Sharjah SHJ on Air Arabia by an Indian gate agent; it's "either you pay 300 AED which it's the minimum fee or you gonna miss the last boarding bus". I paid of course but Air Arabia website clearly stated at gate fee for overweight carry-on is 100 AED. He even took the time to get the credit card payment receipt from me
Chennai airport is one of the last few airports in India that’s owned by the government. Hence the much more modest spending on looks. Bangalore airport is owned by a Canadian firm led consortium.
I flew in business class on the exact same flight but in an A330, they had a business line section but all of the economy class passengers kept skipping the line and going into the business class section which slowed down the process

LOL.
How ironic. Sri Lanka is still recovering from a decades long civil war and you would think they would be more concerned about Tamil separatists than harassing people wanting to share their flight experiences. Oh well. Guess the airline wants to be like North Korean airlines....
I'm always shocked at the narrowmindedness of the free publicity they'd get from these videos. They need to go to the Qatar Airways school of filming on board.
You got to look at it from a crew members point of view, why should they be filmed by someone totally unknown to them whilst they are working. Can U imagine if I just wanted to enter your hotel room to film you editing a review. Seems every TH-camr feels they are above the law and common decency. Yes by all means review the flight but unless it's in a private plane show respect.
Umm... jumping to conclusions much? I love comments like this because it's like, why even watch if you're so 'rage against the reviewer'... I literally point my camera at my feet as I board every single flight to ensure I don't film crew and never film them in the cabin intentionally.
