I've been regularly flying around the globe since very early 1960s and, I've been fortunate to fly at the pointed end, just behind the driver, more times than I can remember. I've had just three flights that were truly memorable for all the right reasons, and two of the airlines will be a surprise to many. The first was with Libyan Arab Airlines, on a Boeing 727 long before the Civil War and eventual demise of Gadaffi or, any other violence. It was like a palace in the sky with service to match. The second was with Biman Bangladesh, the aircraft was an antique DC-10 I think, but, the Cabin crew were simply outstanding and, the food was incredible. My outstanding memory of that flight was the Chief Steward looking mortified at a cup of tea I'd just been served. "Excuse me Sir Your cup of Tea is not to the standard we serve, may I take it away and make you a fresh cup". And he very quietly educated the steward in the Galley on how to make a cup of Darjeeling. The last of the three was Sri Lankan on a brand new A340 flying from LHR to Colombo The cabin crew on that flight did everything except go outside to clean the windows mid-flight. And for the sake of fairness I've flown with many of todays world leading carriers receiving excellent service but, I've also received some bloody awful service in the last few years.
There used be a system called EM that disappeared after they installed regular 220/120 plugs on planes. That’s definitely a yellow RCA for video but how does it integrate with entertainment system is good question. I never got pulled over in Uber but I got pulled over for rental car shuttle before they got the tram system installed at ORD.
@@frankchan4272 I think the RCA ports are for plugging in say a portable DVD player into the IFE. This was incredible business class. The lounge in India looked amazing. The flight ✈️ looked amazing to Sri-Laken. The hotel 🏨 was looking good. Amazing Trip & Awesome Experience. Definitely worth it if you have a chance to visit. Much love Noel & safe travels on your journey.
I used to fly through Colombo to COK or TVM back when it was Air Lanka and they had the L-1011 Tri-Star. Good memories and fun times. Air Lanka gave you a room at a resort for your connection when heading back to LGW. But then you had to take the bus to LHR to catch the then Continental 747 back to IAH. I was younger but those are memories that I still remember of my young aviation journeys.
Sri Lanka Air has always been a really good, and often pretty cheap, option. Even going back 20-25 years when I lived and worked in Delhi and Bangalore. Amazing how the voice doing the announcement in the Departure Lounge about the Lucknow flight being cancelled uses exactly the same tone of voice as that used in UK train stations to cancel trains 😂. Another top video Noel - 'Carry on' as ever with the great content
Gulab Jamun is like small doughnuts, deep fried and then soaked in rose water syrup or similar syrup. Usually served without the creamy sauce but depending as there are so many types by region, country or an old family recipe. The alu muttar (dried pea and potato curry) is my favourite. Sometimes they add eggplant. The tomato pilau rice - it's like a spicy rice risotto you can have vegetarian or add chicken or mutton. I learned to make all these dishes from my Indian inlaws...me a Kiwi girl. Now I'm addicted to curry and pilau etc and must have it once a week.
Naan is more of north indian style with curry, west india prefers bhakri & roti, south and east india prefers curry & rice.. though south india has one of best breads malabari parathas that you should try

At those complaining about saying thank you. It's a simple courtesy, and it makes the people you're dealing with feel their work isn't taken for granted. And as for the frequency it happens in these videos, well, especially in travel and hospitality you depend on a ton of people to do their work, so you can enjoy your trouble free trip. It never hurts to keep that in mind
I flew back when they were called Air Lanka from LHR to MAA via Columbo. Their service was fabulous, they attended to us in coach class as if everyone was in First class.

Nice video again I flew with Srilankan 3 weeks ago in Business and I was very happy as always. My favourite tea is the peppermint tea. Awesome service on all 4 legs.
This looks like a great trip, this one. (old seats notwithstanding). I love the approach to Changi - all the ships lined up offshore and in the Malacca Strait. Not due back there until March next year, so this video will help tide me over 😊
Sooo enjoyed that one - so much to smile at especially your rhyming while dining
Me feeling proud as a Sri Lankan..thank you so much for the positive feedback🇱🇰❤️
Another banger Noel! Love watching you videos, are the Fly with Noel Philips videos going to return?
Thank you. I have not had a chance to fly as much lately. When I do I have been working on getting instrument rated. All I have left to do is my check ride.
Love the Sri Lankan staff and I really enjoyed there product , great video Noel cheers my friend and I love pineapple aswell
Definitely an airline I would like to fly with the hospitality of everybody you met was impeccable
Hello Noel! What strange plane I agree with you! You should do a adventure in Sri Lanka! The best!
Great video Noel, did make me laugh when you wanted your biscuit for dunkin, can't take the Northener out of you 😅 x
That round connection point looks like we used to call a pin plug. You would find zillions of them used to
connect stereo equipment in the 60's through the 90's at least. My 14 year old Pioneer receiver has them.
Great video Noel as usual. I had to have a laugh at your placement of the spoon in your desert!
Super nice people/staff, very impressive!
Take a shot every time Noel says "Thank You". I'm currently in hospital today in the ED recovering from alcohol poisoning 😅😂🤣
I mean atleast he's polite and not being rude 🤷👍
Analog video plug for sure. I recognize it, though how it would mesh with the system...not sure. TY for the Thank Yous!❤
Hi Noel, love your videos; especially your sense of humor! Since you asked… can you fly on PLAY from US to wherever long haul. I’ve been tempted myself because of the low fares, however…
Also a huge Super Dry fan. When I take my annual trip back to England, I always make sure I go to Meadowhall for that shop only.
Wonderful video.. my Sunday's would not be the same ❤😊..the massage was so funny!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Great inflight service. The tea looked amazing!
Definitely lots more airlines for you to travel on in that part of the world Noel, my juvenile humour enjoyed the desert balls, lack of knob knobs & dodgy massage seat lol
Fantastic content noel 👍👍
I cracked up laughing about him enjoying his balls lolol! Everyone was courteous and professional! I'd take a outdated plane to enjoy the wonderful crew! The gentlemen at the tshirt shop, they sure enjoyed their time with you! Now that Earl Grey tea, it has to be so delicious!
Good to see ya flying Srilankan airlines, I was born and bred there. Moved out a couple of decades ago. Cheers.
I flew back when they were called Air Lanka from LHR to MAA via Columbo. Their service was fabulous, they attended to us in coach class as if everyone was in First class.
I watched the video this morning as I always do, but put it on hold to get friends together tonight to play the drinking game based on how many times Noel said “Thank You” We are all knackered.
😂
Thanks Noel perfect for my Sunday relaxation ❤love from NJ
