Don't forget the A's and Oakland were about a week or so from a summit in which they were supposed to work together to get a deal completed before Fisher backed out
Man, I remember when it was announced the A's had a "binding agreement" done in Las Vegas, I thought it was a done deal. I thought it was done because Las Vegas and Nevada are a "Yes" territory. Turns out they don't even want them, except Governor Lombardo, and the elected officials who voted FOR it. Here we are one year later and this is an absolute shit show. Oakland and the Bay Area is filled with Silicon Valley money. Las Vegas absolutely deserves a MLB team but it's not the A's. MLB has a black eye right now with this A's situation. We are literally one of the top markets in MLB and have a die hard fanbase, why does MLB want to give this up?! If the A's move to Vegas, Its safe to say 99% of us are done with MLB! We won't support or follow an MLB team if the A's leave. Done with MLB
Agree with your take on Vegas. Vegas isn't a baseball town. Too hot, too much to do in the entertainment capital, tourists won't spend top dollar to support Fisher and his AA quality team ect....I expect the team stays in California...somewhere
I know I'm done with MLB. But no one will ever be able to take away my beautiful memories of the Oakland A's - a fan all my life until now. I was 14 when Charlie Finley tried to move the team (Denver, N.O.) but then he decided to hire Billy Martin, and the team was saved for Oakland. I feel like my whole life someone's been trying to take them away.
Also the two players that got demoted for wearing the Baseballs Last Dive Bar wristbands on the field. Esteury Ruiz and Brent Rooker. I feel that was unjustified and that we should thank the two of them for risking their careers in order to stand up to some level of corporate greed. It would be the time to put the wristbands on in unity and support of the two players. It also feels like a small reminder that not all heroes wear capes, some wear wristbands and button downs.
Could we see what just happened to the Arizona Coyotes in the NHL happen to the A’s if the Vegas deal falls apart? I’m wondering if there would be some sort of intervention from MLB itself. I think this saga is far from over.
Case, Once Vivek Ranadive realizes he has to foot most or all of the bill for a A's Stadium in Sacramento (if Vegas falls through) he'll wish he went for the expansion route. Things just might backfire in both Vegas and the State Capital and while it's a long shot it's possible that Oakland could get back in this thing.
It’s just crazy that first domino was like a bullet to the heart and it got worse and worse but I stuck by them until the vote when eventually enough was enough and I had to get out
I expect Vegas to fall through...Nevada taxpayers do NOT want them! I expect another Fisher failure and I see the A's staying somewhere in California....the Fisher merry-go-round continues....
Unpopular opinion, the coliseum is the best park. Nothing like that feeling of walking in. I thought it would be fun to have a Howard terminal or some other great park, but when it comes down to it, I wouldn’t want to replace the coliseum for anything.
Such a selfish, greedy horrible person ole JF is. How he sleeps at night is beside me. Instead of being a hero like Walter Haas, he's one evil villain. What a shame.
I know people keep acting like the deal is in jeopardy in Las Vegas, meanwhile the stadium is ahead of schedule in all ways including site preparation and financial agreements….. it’s not going to collapse.
@@togoandmossIsn't site prepararion normally earthwork? And isn't it really hard to start preparation when you have a building on the site? Granted, they should be able to clear the site after implosion and prepare it between this October and next January. But I would've expected financing plans ready to go last May, not this upcoming.
Certainly not a Fischer fan that gave away/traded all halfway descent players over the years. But to be fair, what about a reflection on the City Of Oakland at this time & THEIR part of not being able to work a deal in the last 15+ years? Even now, City Oakland already in conflict with AAESG & the Women's soccer club. What to they have to do with Fischer or the A's? Nothing! So what's the deal with Oakland!
Ahh, first of all, I don't like Oaklands leadership, I think they are all awful and terrible especially Sheng Thao (as she was my former city councilwoman). But I have to give credit where its due, the mayor and City Council has worked with helping the A's as much as they can just to stay in Oakland. The City of Oakland found I believe $800 Million through Federal and State Grants JUST for the Howard Terminal project. It's such a lazy take that its "Oaklands fault." JOHN FISHER IS A BILLIONAIRE WHO IS NOT WILLING TO INVEST INTO HIS FRANCHISE (THE OAKLAND ATHLETICS). Payroll for this year is $40 Million meanwhile Gian Carlo Stanton from the NY Yankees is getting $32 Million just for him himself. John Fisher has intentionally sabotaged this franchise and is utilizing "low attendance" as an excuse to justify his move to Las Vegas. John Fisher is the problem, not the City of Oakland. I really dislike the City of Oaklands leadership (mayor and City Council) but its not their fault.
@@togoandmoss Lets really think about this for 5 minutes: it is a statue built in reaction to Barry Bonds breaking the all time homerun record that celebrates the former HR champion. It's insane as shit.
Let me be frank: sports in this country is fundamentally broken if there is no major national pro sports league that can benefit financially from having a team at the coliseum site. Absurd. Btw I am looking directly at the NHL and MLS in specifically.
Casey. Are other big hitters like MGM or GLPI going to help the A’s now that Bally’s appears to be backing out? All the inside LV people on the your site and others seem to think so. What is going on. I’m running out of emotional energy with all the ups and downs. The guy on the Ricky Blog got my hopes up that LV was dead. Trying not to give up hope for our Oakland A’s🥲
Really hope that MGM doesn't buy up the property and bail John Fisher out. They (MGM) can also wait for an expansion team to come on in, and really reap the benefits of locals and visitors coming in. Rather than tourists/visitors coming in only. MGM has to be smart about it
The mayors mistake was walking away and saying only that she would "accept a call" from Fisher. She should have been sounding off on how close they supposedly were to a deal NON-STOP... but...FJF....disgusting. The whole thing is disgusting.
You continue to cover for the Mayor. While things were still super shacky, she just gave up. But I blame the MEDIA for not putting pressure on her to get off her ass.
Don't forget the A's and Oakland were about a week or so from a summit in which they were supposed to work together to get a deal completed before Fisher backed out
Each time Fisher tries to play the public for fools, he’s the one that ends up looking like a fool.

Fisher could've been the hero. Decided to be a villain instead.
It’s been a year, but what a long strange trip it’s been. Let’s Go Oakland.

The A’s are probably planning on where and how to build a stadium in Sacramento now. Thus, this will become Sacramento’s headache.
Who’s gonna pay for it? Tax payers? Oakland is not the only city to have money problems. Are tax payers gonna want to foot the bill?

Las Vegas Athletics??? But what if the dome disintegrates??????????
John Greedy Fisher got cold feet!!!

That'd be great!!!
Its not blowing up in Vegas. And for sure they are never coming back to Oakland

How long before everybody acknowledges how insanely racist it is for HOF to build Hank Aaron statue ??? This is Mark McGwire all over again.

It wouldn't have made a difference. He's been itching to go since Covid hurt his bottom line.
Yup she should have continued the negotiations and presented the actual plan for HT.

The media no longer hold politicians accountable for bad policy . Shameful
Yup, more style over substance. If Oakland actually presented their plan to move forward with the HT project instead of just throwing their hands up.
Blame the democRAT mayor you guys got; and a little bit on John..
