    Amazon $3 you can get 45 pack fit my tailgate and all my doors , clip in first push rod in then spin down to lock it to the rod , and lasted for a year now and have a whole bunch more if they go again lol

    Same exact problem with door and I used a zip tie instead of the wire but worked perfect. Thx so much!

    Just used a zip tie and it worked like a charm! Thanks man!

      Also, there may be a piece of the clip still stuck in there and that's why you can't get the new one in. Mine had a piece still in there and the rod clicked in and a zip tie for the win!

    I have a 2000 Silverado extended cab with the same clip broken on the driver’s side rear door. I was able to fix it using GM Part #16630689. The clip is black instead of green, but it works so far. Definitely put the clip into the hole first, then put the curved part of the rod into the hole, and finish by rotating the clip over the rod shaft. Hope this helps.

      Just bought a 2000 Silverado extended cab...any ideas how to solve a cylinder 2 misfire?

    The universal clip pack does seem to be the pack to use, however you can not put it on the rod first. Once you are able to reach around the latch piece that is in the way to get the clear clip (GM green one is better) in the hole without the rod attached, you can then slip the rod into the clip. Once it is in the clip you can then twist the other part of the clip to attach to the rod to prevent it from sliding out. Needless to say, the bailing wire might be the best way to go short of pulling apart half the door. Also, for the removal of the bottom latch, great work around for now.

      I went to the dealership and bought both the green and red and they were slightly too big. I even tried to file one down but had no luck. I tried putting it in the hole first as you say, but it just didn’t want to play nice so I did the bailing wire (or a good zip tie works too)

      The universal clip pack does work... advance auto also sells the individual part for the left side and right side.. part numbers 75455 and 75452.... and to make it the easiest you almost have to take off the inside door panel (carefully) once that is off you will see the two inside nuts holding the mechanism to the door frame, and again to make it much easier just unbolt the two nuts. you will than be able to pull the mechanism out and put the clip in first and than the rod. Thanks again for the video.👍

      It was quite easy for me to put the rod into the latch. I got lucky, first try. I just loosely snugged up a couple of zip ties. Would have taken me a total of 15 minutes if I didn't first try taking off my door panel. I rarely open that door. Maybe once a month. That's it. The rod rattling around was driving me nuts more than anything

    Thank you very much. That is exactly what is wrong with mine..the green clip. Part number. If you can possibly post it later. Thanks

      They don’t sell the green clip individually, and the one I tried for the tail gate is too thick. It’s best to use a sturdy zip tie in my opinion

    Thanks been suffering for a week, lucky I'm retired what a bunch of stinking crooks these gm types are. I found threading the rods works well. Got several assorted nuts and bolts kits to fit the holes

    Having issues with the top rod, still can't seem to get my door open after fixing the bottom one.

    Was there a link to any of the door clips that actually work or was the fix to replace the whole thing and the wire just a quick fix ?

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The latch is “not serviceable” and the door clips are slightly too large. A sturdy zip tie is provably best

      Doing this in my garage now. Back door won't open. Glad I found this video because I half way already popped out my door panel to investigate 🔎
