Even after the heartbreaking loss, he arranged pieces of both sides... Huge respect for NIHAL 🙌

I don't have words to express respect to Nihal. Its tremendous attitude in defeats. Excellent human being.

I am fan of Nihal.. don't know what happened to him.. seems like he lost his momentum nowadays... Earlier he was like fire.. hope he bounce back... Get fame like Gukesh, Pragg and Arjun.. he deserves it. Will keep supporting him everytime.

We only see them at the board. They have lives outside of chess. May be he has had some difficulties in his life. Its perfectly possible. Happens in many sports. A great new youngster crops up, and then doesn't handle the limelight too well and loses his way. Jennifer Capriati was one such example in tennis. In her case she did eventually managed to pull herself through.

The most annoying part was that same moves were repeated again and again. Could have thought differently.

Can someone explain how is it a loss and not a draw? White king could capture the queen and the pawn on the next moves right?

      Same question

Got it. I was looking at the board in the wrong direction. The black paw goes downwards and is protected by the king.

First, the pawn is protected by the king once it moves right. However, the question is whether pawn gets promoted without a stalemate and without getting caught.
This is not easy to calculate, but it turns out that the pawn eventually gets the promotion.

After the king takes the Queen, the pawn will move to H3. It will then get promoted to a queen

White King recaptures on g4 and black pushes his pawn to h3 on the next move. White cannot stop the pawn. After Kf3 (what else?) the black King moves to g1 and nothing stops the pawn advance.

the engine or bar to the right shows who is winning. If it's mostly black then black is winning, if it is mostly white then white is winning. So in this case, black is winning thus white resigned

Really in tha last year 2023, nihal level is being extensively far away from other indian junior, he become weaker and maybe won't be able to catchup with gukesh, arjun and pragg anymore.
