You can mix the mechanical brake with the throttle. I have the same setup, but running 8s. I have the spectrum pro and set up the mix with throttle and the mechanical brake works with the braking on the trigger, it works so awesome.
I am in the process of a building a similar setup. I haven’t made it to where I am configuring this part, but wondering how you disable the brake in reverse if I use mixing. I would prefer to set mine up where I don’t need to use a separate button. Thx!
@@torturedrc9013 Hey, so I will try to explain how I did it and hope it makes sense. On my esc I set it up with no reverse, just forward and then brake. Then I read my manual for my spectrum dx5 pro on mixing a channel from my receiver to my throttle, I used the same channel that the mechanical braking servo was using in the 5t to mix with the throttle. So I mixed channel 4 of my receiver to my throttle of the remote, and luckily it worked and I have the throttle and then braking from the trigger as it would be by if you were using the esc to brake. You then can turn down the esc braking and then dial in your mechanical braking. If I can figure this out and I don’t think I have as much experience as you, I think you can do it. It toke me a little while to understand my manual for remote, but then it was fairly easy. Let me know if this works or if I can help more somehow. What a difference it makes this way, it’s normal and what we are used too. Thanks and I hope it works.
@@jameskent3114 Ahh ok, you turned off reverse. I am wanting to maintain reverse as this will be more of a basher for me. The car is actually a rovan xlt 450 (very similar to 5t at a platform level). I realize I can also solve this with a y connector and run it off of the throttle input on the receiver, but I was exploring alternatives because I was trying to avoid the brake servo engaging at throttle, even though it won't apply brake during throttle it will be forced to move along with the throttle and that seem like extra unnecessary activation of the servo. I appreciate the response and I will play with a few options and if I can figure out how to make this work with also maintaining reverse I will let you know. Thanks!
Awesome, yea let me know if that works. I know what you mean about the servo moving with the throttle. I was going to use the y harness as well if I couldn’t figure out how to mix it.
Wow that's cool, I'm planning to get a Losi 5ive T 2.0 in the next coupe of years and when i'm done or have blown up the gas engine it comes with i might do a similar electric conversion to mine someday maybe with a Max 4 or an XLX2.
For sure, can gear it up! It's the same motor these speed guys are using to go 200 mph and i know they are much much lighter and smaller vehicle but that truck should be able to get lot closer to triple digits
Wow that’s impressive. That’s a good idea to keep the mechanical brake. Probably save a ton of heat build up from trying to stop such a big truck. But shit that thing rips for a huge 5th scale. 🤙
any reason you couldn't set mechanical brake to 'reverse trigger' (instead of motor brake) and set motor brake to button 'g'? It's unusual, but if mech brake is smoother and prevents wear on the motor, you might want to use it more, right? Would this work or am I missing something? I'm doing this exact same conversion with exact same parts+radio on my 5T this week, so I appreciate you guys.
He could just put a splitter like I do for my Baja 5SC disk brakes. It'll behave just like the gas version and turn off braking on the ESC for longer motor and battery life.
Thanks!
Thank you!!
Just the stuff I'm getting ready to do ! I'm getting the new VEKTA5 E , I'll be using the same motor , great to see it in action , thanx !
Your toolkit's phenomenal and the shirts you guys got are awesome
56mph for 1/5 is wild love to see it

That does work. Just make sure you deactivate the mechanical brake when using reverse.

Awesome RC and upgrades, cool run
I smell it something was cooking back there,😅😅,just awesome job and set up,Blessings for everyone at Maddnes 🙏🤝🤝

Awesome job guys!!
I've got the same brake setup on my 5ive t. The second one is gonna have the same brake setup but with much nicer promodeler servos.
Hi, do you run all metal gears for this setup
Holy big can!

Did you sell it
Do you have the link to the motor and esc?

Do u know it's that stupid rc battery trays will fit the in the 30 degree north?
That's really nice 😂🔥🔥🔥
Battery ?
How long run time?
How much
💯👍
Just split the throttle signal with an adapter to the servo and remove braking from the ESC.
Easy fix fellas
Is there a reason all of the heavy components are on one side.
You beat me
@black sheep rc just crazy set up,can wait for the summer all the craziness we gonna see out there🤔🤔🤔
Oh no!
All the weights are on the right side, and that motor probably sucks that battery quick infew minutes.
23t pinion is what you're running to clear the brakes
Lol! Doll up the work area dude. 😂😂😂😂
i saw that thing in person yesterday. you cant tell AT ALL its been run in a dusty ass parking lot
What a poorly balanced chassis! All the heaviest parts are all on the same side ...uuuuugh
12S......YOU, Sir.....
