Goodford Model Railway MK3 - 23. Layout Update - Feb 23

- Big changes at Goodford Model Railway including entirely removing the Depot plus the drop down road which had the faller road system installed. There are times where I regret this decision however I was never happy with what was there so overall it is for the best. There is now more scope for running through the station as well as stopping and leaving passenger services stopped at the station for longer.
The station is still a point of experimentation and I keep getting the itch to entirely remove it and start again, potentially making more use of the space available in the room. The room itself is 19'6" x 12' and I'm not sure if the best use of the space is being made.
The countryside side of the layout is at a point of being "complete" and it is just the constant addition of additional details which will help this area evolve and grow in to a more established scene.
Another key thing I have been working on is ABC braking, this has been added to the fiddle yard, station and a couple of key signals. Of course it also involves adding to all locos and setting it up to work as it should, with a fleet of over 50 locos this is no small task.
I also have plenty of rolling stock updates, however in the interest of keeping this video to a watchable length I will cover this in a future update/running session.
As always, thanks for watching and I welcome any thoughts/feedback and comments.
Fantastic
Thank you very much for this, much appreciated..
Look forwards to updates..
Again thankyou..
Great to see you back. Looking really good and thanks for sharing, all the best, Colin
Great update. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe.
That looks seriously amazing, mix of industrial and country is gorgeous
Loving the scenery. It looks beautiful. Every scene is fully of detail 👍😃
Excellent update and pleased to see you back on here, really like what you’ve done to the layout and totally understand how time consuming the electrical elements take to get running perfectly, look forward to seeing your next update, cheers Darrell
You have been very busy since the last update, looking forward to following your progress with the new station and main junction. Really like the countryside scene with all those added extra bits of detail. Cheers David
Good to see you back mate. Look forward to futures updates 😊
good vid good see you puting vids up thanks lee
Looks great!
Blimey Dave, what a change. Its good to see you stuck to OO gauge and modern and as long as your happy that's all that matters. God knows how many times I've changed my mind. Ps Sneaky peak of the GWR 166 looks fab. Susannah
Very well spotted, the GWR 166 has been a nightmare to try and get right but think I’ve cracked it now (3rd attempt mind you!). Cheers, Dave
Hi. It looks great. Scenery is brilliant and station area is better.
Having been somewhat critical of Goodford’s previous incarnation, I’m mighty impressed with all your changes. Very glad you stuck with your initial concept; the layout is now a true embodiment of the old mantra “less is more”.
From a railway operational standpoint your diverging junction signal in the countryside section would probably be sited much further back from the level crossing. This would then allow for any errant train not to foul the crossing or the junction if over-running the signal. Nevertheless, this is an extreme bit of nit-picking on my part - for which apologies - about what is now otherwise an extremely high standard piece of work. Love it!
Thanks for the feedback, I wanted to squeeze the signal in just before the level crossing as it means I can have another signal more than a trains length before it. Definitely not a prototypical block length before but it’s nice to see signals changing aspect as they would in the real world. Cheers, Dave
Everything looks different but keep up with the great work mate
The new station is looking good mate, and the backscene wallpaper is better than a retaining wall. nice to see all that Bachman Scenecraft crap gone lol.
Haha, thanks. It did often feel like I was creating an advert or magazine shot for the Bachmann scenecraft stuff!
Looks really good.
Amazing layout pal.
I already miss the depot 😢
Haha, I do occasionally feel the same! 😢
WOW. Really cool.
it is an amazing update but i am a little bit sad the depot was gone because it was the greatest depot keep up the good work
Boa noite...sou Ester do Brasil 🇧🇷...parabéns...me inscrevi no seu Canal!!
the little bit where the depot was maybe that could be a mini like kind of forest?
Probably to late now but heathcote electronics produce various electronic boards some of which will stop all trains at a specific point and can give indications to a display board
Thanks for the heads up, I’ll take a look for future projects.
you should do a running session of a hst special
