One thought about your road "stopping" at the backscene at the level crossing. Have you considered a tunnel mouth. It would be very easy to install on the backscene and blend in. The area inside the mouth of the tunnel could have a "road" photo shopped in or even a mirror to create the illusion of the road disappearing into the tunnel. Just a thought. Hope it helps. Cheers from Australia.
Looking good tmd work certainly looks the part and with the level crossing I agree with others either a tunnel (but not really enough space to pull it off easily) or maybe the trees option but also u could paint the road on the backscene curving off to the left the bushes on the backscene would hide it going off behind quite well ant with the trees too then would really pull it off...
Hi Dave- I love Goodford so selfishly I am glad you have not ripped it up . I like the tweaks you have made and all the little details to make a difference. The level crossing problem is one that you get as you tend to mostly mostly view it from above where from track level it is not a problem . I had the same issue and took a picture of a road heading into the distance partially covered by trees , but you would have to blend it into the fields . And some really nice shots to finish off with. Cheers Kev
Looking good Dave, the pylons are very good and something I was going to look at on my new layout when I get it sorted. Just a suggestion for the level crossing, a tunnel mouth mite be worth a look.
Hi Dave, glad to see you've decided to keep Goodford as a whole, you put alot of time and effort into it. The improvements you've since made look great with the various backscenes which I particularly like. Susannah
Hello mate, nice looking setup this. Was just looking at your level crossing, best advice i can give is to go on google street view and look at a similar road dissapearing off round a curve. Print it off and then use it as a template to paint the road carrying on, on the backscene. If you have it curve left or right then you can put a tree one side for it to curve behind. Ive done similar on my layout, my recent vid shows it near the end. Otherwise got a lot of potential this
Hi Dave, watched your ‘future plans’ and this video back to back. I’ve always been impressed with your achievements over a relatively short time and your landscaping work, especially in the rural section, is extremely good. I’m glad you’re sticking with what you already have but fully understand your frustrations. When planning my own layout I spent a massive amount of time thinking how could I avoid becoming bored with it. My answer has been to keep it simple but include different ‘play’ elements including a steelworks for shunting, lines off to a depot and branches plus an independent 009 line lacing around. On your layout the bit which doesn’t work for me is the lowered section below the station. Apart from the bus the wrong way round at the stop making me wonder whether it would fit under the low bridge below the TMD, it feels far too regimented and a wasted opportunity. You have the space to include a low-level line and platforms - maybe disused, or a suburban line, or a tram, or a disused victim of Beeching cuts. Or maybe a small riverside/canal side/harbour scene. Anything which would give you some variety if you wanted a break from shunting locos or watching the tail-chaser. Anyway, you said you had plans so I very much look forward to seeing them come to fruition.
Sorry to appear critical but in the opening piece to camera, maybe it’s me but the shelves behind you seem to be warped, that’s probably a trick of the light but they also the cases seem mis-aligned and the alignment with the ceiling. I think I’ll go get an eye test 😵💫

Great update. Really a good plan to extend the retaining wall and the backdrop to the lift-out section. It benefits the whole layout.
DARRENBURY CENTRAL V good. Great yard.
I like it! Good work. I think use tress's to make an arch to hide the crossing to backscene bit.
Hi. What a wonderful layout. Love your progress so far. So pleased you didn't rip it up. Looks great.
Excellent update, the layout is fantastic and I’m glad your keeping it!

Good spot, the ceiling is actually sloped as it is a flat roof and the ceiling follows this 👍

Hi, the layout is about 20 x 12 feet roughly 👍
