@@Mystblueangel I pray it’s just a lipoma (fatty deposit) or localized infection. I know how scary it can be having to have CT scans. I’m an RN and it still scares me! Lol

@@MarthaMyDear6 Martha, lipoma is exactly what it was.. I actually postponed or maybe I'm cancelling the bottom half of the arm's MRI since all was good! The MRI wears me down. I haven't been 100% since... Although, the lump had began to go down prior to getting the second MRI done or the results coming back. I swear because I stopped drinking coffee creamer Mate...

How sad that many Catholic Churches do not even offer this blessing anymore. For the past few years it was done to the entire congregation as one blessing. Being 73 years of age yes I knew the story of St Blaise and the reason for the blessing of the throat. We had Sister of the Franciscan Order who taught us. It would be such a great blessing if the Catholic Church could go back to the way it was before it became so modernized. I will keep praying for that🙏

Yes ! The traditional Mass is still around! Search in your area for a traditional Latin Mass, they will all be doing the Blessing of the Throat on the 3rd as well as all other traditions the new church misses out on.
Or seek out a NO mass. We had the Blessing of the Throats along with celebrating all the major Christian Traditions. St Michael is our patron and Francis who sits on the seat of Peter is our Pope. So your prayers have been answered. Hallelujah!

Usually this blessing is given during the Mass. If your parish Priest doesn't give that blessing during the mass, high probability you won't get it either when you meet him separately after the Mass, because if the blessing to be conffered outside the Mass, it should be preceeded by a liturgy of word first...

Make her a tea with eucalyptus leaves, ad a table spoon of honey a few (3-5) drops of lemon. Rub Vicks ointment on her back and feet at night. Try it.
Hopefully the blessing of the throat through the Intersession of St Blaise helps. 🙏🏻 a bit of oregano powder could help on soups or salads.

Our parish priest is doing throat blessings on Friday the 2nd…. Maybe because the 3rd has First Saturday mass?

Our family has been a devout follower of saint Blaise or San Blas as we call him locally for almost 130 years. We have a statue of him dating back to the late 1895, that was passed down from generations. We celebrate his feast day from January 25 to February 3. I have fond memories where we get blessed by his statue whenever we get pricked by fish bones.

I had no idea about St Blaise or that it his feast day. I went to Mass this morning and the priest did the blessing with the candle. I went up and as he was doing blessing he said the prayer and mentioned the throat. I was shocked . For I have been having a strange problem with my throat for a few days and googled throat cancer (as you do lol) anyways after blessing the feeling I been having in my throat completely gone!! The Holy Spirit guided me to church today to receive this blessing and St Blaise cured my throat! Still can’t believe it. Praise be Jesus praise be Holy St Blaise for his intercession and martyrdom
I remember this from when I was little in the 1960s. People would approach for a blessing. Then, it stopped by around the late ‘60’s.

We used to get our throats blessed when we were children on his feast day. I think then a lot of kids had tonsillitis and also strep throats before antibiotics were widely in use.

2 weeks ago I was diagnosed with follicular thyroid cancer. I will be going to Mass on St Blaise Feast Day followed by the blessing of my throat. Feeling incredibly humbled and grateful to be able to receive this heavenly gift before my surgery. Thank you Jesus, Mary, Joseph and Saint Blaise!

I receive St. Blaise blessing and felt notoriously different in my throat. Thank you Lord!
When I was young, I used to think I was going to get burned by the candles. The Communion rail was still used. I was kneeling at the railing and an altar boy got to close to the cart of lit candles on the altar. His lacey top caught fire and it was immediately extinguinshed. I will never forget this. Of course, my throat was never burned!

I was actually just thinking about this the other day, as I have recently returned to the church after being gone for about 45 years. I was trying to Recall times that we regularly attended mass as a family (My parents were very devout) . I was specifically thinking about blessing of the throat because my siblings and I often had strep throat. My mom stopped taking us for blessings of the throat because we would almost always get sick with strep throat within 48 hours of the blessing.:) i’m sure it was not the blessing that created it, but it sure looked like it

Can Eucharist ministers/ Layity that distribute communion say this blessing for other Layity or does it need to be a deacon or priest. The Eucharist ministers do this at my church and I thought it was odd.
