As a musician I've seen it happen many times either with other musicians or people who truly feel the piece. There's a moment when you completely disconnect and your soul truly transcends. It takes you some times to fully regain your thoughts after the piece has ended. Some people look at their tears in shock because they were not even aware that they cried.
As someone who had his wife cheating on him, knowing it, and still was forced to live with her under the same roof for 6 months, I can totally relate to the theme and the pain expressed in this song.

This performance is amazing not simply because of his wonderful voice,but also because of the intense focus and sincerity of his acting. He really is in the same league as Caruso. Domingo is a great actor and musician,but his voice was smaller and not as released as Pavarotti's. The world is a much poorer place without him.
