We'll cover everything from stripping out the van to modifying our Mercedes Vario to fit our needs. By the end of the video, you'll have an idea of the work and skills we learnt from scratch to build the van - We knew nothing before this and we are by no means experts, but love to learn and now love DIY!
We converted our van into a camper over two years: We show the main steps we took to convert our Mercedes Vario minibus into a tiny home. How much does it cost to build this RV
Great question, we really need to total it up as costs for upgrades etc need to be included. It's roughly cost us 25K including the van and welding etc we had to do.@@khadija8740
I really admire your building skills and the design for the bathroom, especially the hide-a-way potty. Very nifty. How did you decide where to locate the bathroom & kitchen?
Thank you. We had a couple of ideas of where to place both and marked them up on the floor in tape. At one point we even placed some makeshift items such as cardboard and a pallets.
We wanted to sort of have the ability to make it two rooms, so decided to put the bathroom nearer the back and placed it above the lowered wheel arch. This meant we can use it when the double sofa bed it out and vice versa.
The kitchen is huge for a van, and this was important to us. We did almost put it on the other side but this would’ve reduced its size and ability to turn the seats to make a little dining area.
The layout works really well for us. We’ve seen many other clever designs that work well for others too, I think it just depends what you’re going to use the van for.

Very nice, I really love the "bathroom cabinet" , sliding out so that you can use the mirror and expose the contents at the same time. Great use of space and no peering over cupboards to look in the mirror.

For the toilet with "separation" do not forget to add a fan (24/24) to dry the material which does not give off an odor once dried, but not the liquid because it go to the grey waters.!!!!🤐🤔😉😊

All travellers do not talk about this particular system that is great in my opinion but i never try it?????.
I travel from Morocco to Britanie /france in my young time (years 50-60) and more by Race sailing in the Channel (EUR)years 70-80 but to day i stay quite here on french shore of "Geneva lake" (EUR).

@@jean-marievennin8405 it does seem to split opinion. We love ours and find it a whole lot cleaner and easier to manage than a regular motorhome cassette.

Thanks Nicole. That sounds like a great idea - for us it has been so useful to be able to reflect back on videos and photos throughout the long build so we could see the progress. Sometimes when you’re ‘in it’ it’s hard to see you’ve made any if that makes sense. So definitely consider it - what’s the plan for the caravan?

Il fotovoltaico è veramente ottimo, e penso che voi abbiate pensato ad una soluzione green eliminando il gas !!!
Io addirittura avrei messo pannelli estraibili 😏😏😏, per le situazioni con poco sole e bisogno di energia, un paio di pannelli in più non fanno male !!!
Comunque per le emergenze un piccolo generatore conviene sempre averlo sul camper !!! Per quanto riguarda il letto centrale, cosi com'è va benissimo, ma ci sono soluzioni anche più comode volendo, ad esempio io avrei istallato un letto a discesa, che va ad appoggiarsi su di un tavolo, cosi si ha la possibilità di avere anche un tavolo completo a bordo !!!
L'unica soluzione che non mi è piaciuta molto è il bagno !!! Oramai si trovano bagni già pronti di tutte le misure, da istallare molto facilmente ed anche molto funzionali, e si sarebbe potuto evitare il WC a scomparsa !!!
Infine .... amico mio, la tua signora è veramente molto bella, mi sa che hai fatto bingo ☺☺☺🤩

I wondered what the floor would be made of ro stand up to moisturize from below and that plastic sintra board is a great choice.
Thanks for you comment. It is made of phenolic plywood, also known as buffalo board, and was actually the original floor. We sealed it up underneath too and then the top subfloor is marine plywood.
