I watched this because I have been the cleaner at the Lookout Tower for the last 10 years. You captured it beautifully. Just so y’all know those shots are not rare exceptions. We get that kinda beauty on a regular basis.
Wow, I’m so glad you found it! Thank you so much for the kind words. Would be a dream to spend more time there throughout the years, we really fell in love with the place. I’m sure you see the beauty daily there.
As the designer/dreamer/builder/owner of this solar lookout, thanks for your sharing of this special place with your eye and expertise. Thanks for showing its integration with the high desert of Central Oregon. Glenda Kaser Alm
Glenda, I’m so happy that you enjoyed the video and took the time to watch it. It means a lot to me. I don’t think any of my photographs could ever do the solar lookout justice. My wife and I really felt connected to this place and everything that you accomplished on the land. A true masterpiece - we also loved reading your book. I wish I could own a copy. We hope to visit time and time again, and I’m sure we’ll do just that.
You know, say what you will about the x100v, overhyped or expensive, but I've definitely seen an uptick of photographers joining the TH-cam platform to share their photography journeys. Albeit all x100v shooters, they're all aspiring yet inspiring nonetheless and it's definitely wonderful to see.
It’s a fun little camera for sure. I shoot many other cameras when it’s for actual client projects but it’s by far my favorite daily carry for personal stuff.
Really enjoy seeing what the moment looks like via your Sony and then how you decide to compose that moment on your x100v. Great storytelling, really enjoying your videos.
Man this is so good! Definitely worth waiting 6 months for this video, lol! Such an amazing place. Love the colors and tone of everything. Keep up the good work! Hopefully we won’t have to wait as long for your next upload 🤞🏻
I was in the rockies recently, Kananaskis. Saw the milky way, framed by the huge pine trees at the edge of the clearing we were camping on. It was beautiful. I really regret not taking that photo, but we were busy enjoying the moment.
Your x100v shots inspired me to purchase one. I only shoot film, so shooting with a digital camera will be exciting. I'm picking it up this Saturday. I'm going to test it out in Mt.Raineir next week.
Here I am about to be sucked into a world of Leica Q3 and I see this and wonder why I am going the path of Leica. I own a XPro 3 and the silly Leica hype has bitten and by God I am trying to shake it off. Your video reinforces the reasons to stay with Fuji. Great work Dylan!!
The yt algorithm suggested this video and man, it's so good! I love the photo's and video, the quietness and the location. Great job capturing it, Dylan. I hope you had a great trip!
Just subscribed. By the quality of this video I was expecting to see at the minimum 100k plus subs. Im sure you will get there and beyond. This video really captured the feeling I get being away with my camera. Great work.
I completely agree... I do my best work when no-one is about. Living in the UK, we're a nation of curtain twitchers and there's always that feeling that someone is about to come and get in your face for taking pictures of, well... anything. I sold my X100V for a XT5 (and very happy with the decision) but the X100 was a very special thing. Hyped? Perhaps. Worthy of the praise though. Great video, stunning location.
Hahaha curtain twitchers, that's a shame though...I love that casual walkabout style of photography but it's tough for me unless it's a very quiet, sleepy town. I'm sure you made the right decision with your camera - if I only had the one body I would absolutely do the same. Appreciate you watching and for the kind words.
The shots. The color. The homemade chicken and noodles. Does it get any more Dylan and Jillian?! You even worked in the falls...just wow. Absolutely loved this and miss you guys so much. Keep up the inspiring work brother!
Miss you too my man! Yeahhhh we haven’t changed haha 😂. Thanks for taking the time to watch, brother. Really stoked that you enjoyed it. You guys are coming next spring/summer END OF DISCUSSION!
Great location, shots and editing. I like how the video shots and photos have a really close matching style, very cinematic with an analog feel to it. Would love to see a photo editing process!
So dope. Every. Time. Absolutely love your work man and the attention to detail in these videos is just so noticeable. That audio transition at 10:02 is 🔥🔥🔥 Cool to see Dino's artwork getting airtime.
Hi there! Thank you - glad you enjoy that aspect of the videos. I actually write all the intro montage songs myself, but the songs throughout the rest of the video are from epidemic sound.
Hey man! I just LOVED this video, the photos in it are amazing and like is just a super relax video, with nice storytelling. Thanks!! I was wondering if you could tell me what lense you used for the photos? If i’m not wrong you just used the x100V right? Thank you!! Keep it up
Thanks for the sub! Appreciate the compliment 🙏. Ohh the button is from a company called Artisan Obscura - I’ve gotten a handful of items and their products and service are top notch. If you buy something on their site tell them I sent you! Maybe he’ll remember me haha
Ah thanks so much! To be honest I don’t find the colors to be drastically different across brands, but I pretty much just use my taste and eyes to guide my decision making and therefore they end up looking similar. Hope that makes sense, and yesss go make art! 👊
Hey! I actually use a variety of primes too, I just forget to update the video descriptions. My most used lens for video work is by far my Zeiss Planar 50mm T1.4. For personal travel though, I do prefer the wides and zooms more. Just easier to highlight full landscapes and distant subjects within them for me with those extreme focal lengths. Also minimizes weight and the hassle of switching lenses in those environments.
is there a way to see your editing process, any presets or something like that... if you have some that you use before editing and you want to sell privately just let me know...
Hey, thanks! I just shoot raw and edit to taste in Lightroom. Each photo is just so different that I never find myself making the same decisions. So there’s no presets or anything, just a series of decisions each time. I will probably make a video just showing that process at some point if there’s enough people asking though!
I watched this because I have been the cleaner at the Lookout Tower for the last 10 years. You captured it beautifully.

I love that you incorporated exactly how shutter on the X100V shounds.
Haha yes, nice catch. Recorded it 😂
Such a great vid, Dylan. Your colors are always on point. If you ever created any presets, I'd buy them in a heartbeat. :)

Great video and such amazing beautiful Photographs! The X100V is my dream camera I hope I can buy it at end of this year.
Thanks, Brandon! Really happy you liked the photos. It’s such a fun little camera, I hope you can snag one 👊
Great job like always! I need to get out that way this next year! The Jeep needs to see some of those mountains.
Oh for sure! Thanks dude, glad you enjoyed it 👊
Hey Dylan! The soundtracks throughout this video really add to the art of your photography--where do you find these tracks??

This is the best ❤
You guys would love it there, man.
SO GLAD THAT YOU"RE BACK!! This is such a beautiful video filled with amazing photos buddy!
Thank you so much! Appreciate you showing up to the premiere 🤣🙏
This is stunning.
Ah thanks Sam 🙏
Straight from jpegs?wonderful shots man!!And a wonderful place ,definitely a place where u can turn off and enjoy everything ❤️
Thanks man! Truly a special place, appreciate you watching. These are all shot in raw and developed in Lightroom to taste.
Would love to see how you’re editing your x100v files
Thanks! Noted.
Beautiful video and pictures. Having recently bought the x100v could you share some of the settings you use and like?
Again beautiful shots!
Hey, thanks! Enjoy the camera - I usually just shoot in raw and leave the iso at 640 until it's dark out.
Hey man! I just LOVED this video, the photos in it are amazing and like is just a super relax video, with nice storytelling. Thanks!! I was wondering if you could tell me what lense you used for the photos? If i’m not wrong you just used the x100V right? Thank you!! Keep it up
Thanks so much! Yes, all the photos were with the built in lens on the X100V.
Great video love it!
Thank you!
🔥video and photos man, subscribed! - side note wondering which shutter release button are you using for your X100V/where'd you get it?

Wonderful video and shots. HOW do you create that look/glow on x100v maaan? :) RAW with some pre sets?
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. Good light, raw and lr edits - no presets though.
So many great shots ! So inspiring ! Wow, so atmospheric vibe, +1 like =)
What model of filter ? Cinebloom or pro mist or ... ?
Thank you! For the video I used a 1/8 black pro mist. No filter for photos.
Stunning video. I'm curious about what film simulations you primarily used?
Thanks so much 🙏. All of the photos were shot in raw and edited in Lightroom to taste. No simulations.
@@DylanSpitz I'd love to see a video on that!
@@chrisslivar3312 noted! Thanks
Love this video so much.. the photos are great. Do you exclusively shoot raw? If so, your post processing is just wow.
thank you! I do, yeah.
Duuuuuude!!! Stubbled upon you channel and I got to say, you make incredible videos! The video/photo combo is so satisfying. Keep up the good work 👍🏼
Hey, thanks so much man! Appreciate your kind words, vey encouraging. 🤘
Loved the video and images! Regarding the grain, do you use a rather higher than needed ISO or do you add the grain in Lightroom?
Thank you! Glad you liked it. I always shoot at the lowest ISO I can - any grain is film grain added in post.
Great video man! What film simulation did you use? They look amazing!
Thank you! I actually shoot raw, no film simulations
Reminds me of the video game Firewatch.
I never played that one! Looks fun haha
Stunning color, videography. Is this primarily a recipe your using with the X100V or using a standard mode and using a LT preset afterwards?
Thanks, Pat! Appreciate that. It’s all shot in raw on the X100V and then processed in Lightroom to taste. No presets.
Any tips for keeping the look/color consistent between the Fuji and Sony?
Great video🤙 definitely an inspiration to get out and make art 🔥
Ah thanks so much! To be honest I don’t find the colors to be drastically different across brands, but I pretty much just use my taste and eyes to guide my decision making and therefore they end up looking similar. Hope that makes sense, and yesss go make art! 👊
Dope video! Your photos are awesome as always! Are you using any sort of diffusion filter on the x100v?
Thank you! Sometimes I use a 1/8 black pro mist, but all these were without anything.
@@DylanSpitz Appreciate the response! Can't wait for more content :D
@@tgold94 any time! Thanks, excited to get to work on the next one 🤘
Congratulations, started following recently.
These are not SOOC right?.
Hey there! Thanks for following along - correct, these are raw and processed in Lightroom.
What lens did u use on the x100v?
Just the built in 23 f2
Do you find you ever miss having something in the mid-range for your Sony on trips like this? Like a 40-50mm.
Hey! I actually use a variety of primes too, I just forget to update the video descriptions. My most used lens for video work is by far my Zeiss Planar 50mm T1.4. Can i ask what simulation you used for the stills? in the first 4 minutes of video
All images were shot in raw and edited in Lightroom to taste. No film simulations. Hope that helps! 👍
Did you shot all the photos in RAW or JPEGs?
Raw! I actually just released my first ever preset system for editing in Lightroom if you're interested. Link is in the description for it. ❤️
What recipe did you use??
Hi! I didn’t use any. I prefer to just shoot in raw and edit in Lightroom. 🤘
We’re these edited photos or just jpegs straight out of the camera?
Raws, edited in Lightroom
does anyone know how to send more than one like? great video and photographs!!!
Hahaha thanks so much! Really appreciate it.
Which film simulation??
None. Shot in raw and edited in Lightroom. 🤘
@@DylanSpitz Whole point of getting this camera is using film simulations. I have a7IV and would not waste time editing if I buy this one.
