I am binge watching all your videos in a row and my only complain so far is that... there are not enough! I really like your aesthetic. I'm not exactly sure what it is, maybe the warmth of the color, maybe your specific oranges and browns and greens...? Watching your videos puts me in some kind of meditating state. Nothing else matter and it ease my soul. Thank you. I'm looking for your next piece of art. PS : Love your dog! He has character.
I honestly couldn’t ask for a better comment! Thank you so much for the kind words, I’m so happy to hear that these videos can bring you a moment a peace. I’ll give Carl (the dog) a pat on the head and let him know he’s appreciated. He’s such a good pal to have around. More videos coming soon! Appreciate you going back through all of them. Cheers!
I’m late to the party as I just stumbled onto this video. I really enjoyed this. You told a great story of your short vacation. Envious I am. But Thank you.
Dylan the attention to the smallest details in this video make the difference, I noticed you use different shutter clicking sounds depending on the camera used for each shot shown in the video... phenomenal.
I wasn’t sure anyone would even notice that I recorded the different camera shutters haha. Glad you did! I appreciate the kind words, very encouraging for me to get out of my own way and put more videos up here.
Wow, I almost never comment on YT, but this is the most artistic video of the Oregon Coast I've seen. How come it's only 2.5k views? As other folks say - the editing, the sound, the video footage and photos - all great. Now I want to come back to the place and do photography there.
Wow. The footage, editing, music, everything just gives such an immersive vibe. It's stunningly beautiful and as someone who always wanted to try making cinematographic videos like yours, watching your video inspired me. Thanks and again - wow!
Thanks Renato! Right on, I could maybe do that one day. I actually responded to another comment somewhere below with more info on it if you’re interested. 🤜💥🤛

Really happy you enjoyed everything, means a lot to hear that you got something out of it. I have indeed been shooting for many years and I’m sure you will too - if the process brings you joy then you’re doing it right!
just wanna tell u that I made it that far and watched the whole thing. When I saw that the video is 18min long, I save it to watch later and make sure I am free and have my pair of good headphones ready when I enjoy the whole thing. Can u make more X-E4 video please next time haha. Cuz X-E4 is what Im thinking of buying
Watching this one again with Sarah because I thought she would dig it. Just caught that your using a pretty "new" Nikon. Personally love the later Nikon's. I have an N65 with a modern 50mm lens. It does pretty well!
Such an awesome film! Storytelling and tones are right on, subbed! I think there's a few of us who would love to know your secret sauce i.e. your Davinchi colour workflow! I have the a7siii but wow - you've just opened my eyes to it's potential!
Really appreciate that, Thomas! Hahaha I don’t have too many secrets really, just a workflow that involves basic corrections, then creative decisions like curves, colors and power windows, then a chain of effects like grain, sometimes subtle halation, etc.. overall it’s usually ~15 nodes per clip. I’ll use the hero shot from each scene as the starting point for that color palette/location. Hope that helps! It’s a wildly capable camera and I absolutely adore it.
Wow! Awesome content, shock to see that you only have 724 subs while watching the vid, continue making content and for sure more people would love your videos. New subscriber here making it 725!
Dude this was amazing! The photos, videos, commentary - all executed perfectly. I was wondering if you used a fuji recipe in some of the shots, or did you edit them yourself?
So good. The intro music is so dope, every time. That shot with the surfer is a special one. Love the production value, the attention to detail (changing shutter sounds depending on the camera used), is second to none. Love the vibe when the weather changes, great transition. Can't wait for the next one! Do you use a pro mist filter on your x100v, if so what strength?
Wow, you are the best! I’m stoked that someone pointed that out about the actual shutter sounds, haha. Very encouraging feedback that I definitely don’t just glance over…so thank you, seriously. And yes! I almost always use a 1/8 on the x100v unless I’m shootings details or want to capture more of a “gritty” scene.
Hey, thanks so much! I actually develop and scan everything myself at home, so I do get to make whatever decisions/adjustments I like along the way while processing them. Usually always prefer my images a bit more colorful and airy than they would be straight from a lab scan.
YES! The internet gods have blessed us with another Dylan Spitz video! So stoked everytime. Each video just gets better and better. Love the film shots. How do you go about developing? Do you normally send it out or develop at home? Just curious. Be well. Cheers.
Haha! Thanks friend! I develop and scan it all at home. It’s stressful and fun at the same time, but I love it. This video took me an absolute eternity to make so I’m stoked that you enjoyed it!
@@DylanSpitz You are most welcome! Developing and scanning at home really can take forever. I normally roll with Cinestill DF96, although some folks might hate on it. Beautiful. Can I ask how you take care of your camera gear while on a beach/near sand? When I was young, I had sand ruin a zoom lens on a camera, and since have been very hesitant to shoot anything near sandy areas. Easy to do when I live in a land-locked state, but would love some advice for when I am able to travel to the ocean!
Hey! Thanks for that. When I am near sand I usually just make sure my cameras are on straps and secure - and avoid “close to the ground” angles or super windy conditions.
Wow this is amazing!! Amazing videography and photography! I just bought a x100v and have been having difficulty using the portra 400 recipe and trying to expose foreground properly without overexposing highlights. You seem to do it perfectly here! Am curious if your x100v photos here are straight out of camera with the portra 400 recipe or did you shoot raw and then edit them in post? The colors are stunning and exposure is on point!
Hey, thank you so much! Really appreciate the kind words. I always just shoot raw with the x100v and edit to taste in Lightroom, no recipes or presets or anything. Some of the time I’m actually using my film photos from each location as a reference to help guide my digital edits if that makes sense. Hope that helps!
@@DylanSpitz That makes a lot of sense, thanks for sharing! It’s no wonder your x100v shots looked so much like your film shots 😍 Keep up the awesome and beautiful work! I also live in the PNW so videos like these get me so inspired to go out and explore all the beautiful nature around us 😁
@@halleneguo1677 Try using a mist filter (black pro mist or similars). They help a lot with overexposure. I shoot SOOC Classic Negative, with the filter on, and I never have to worry about blowing highlights, as the filter helps a lot retaining slight detail - makes it look similar to film in the rendering :)
wow the production on this video was amazing!! how do you edit your x100v files? do you use a specific preset? would love to see your process on that 🥰 subbed
Hey, thank you! I shoot raw and just edit each image from scratch usually using my film images from each scene as a visual reference to guide my decision making. No two photos really ever get the same treatment, but that’s also half the fun of it. 🤙
