    I personally would say that this car compared to competition is bulletproof and very reliable. Skyactive engines are fantastic. It looks way more stylish than DACIA or Fiesta. It is more reliable than competition as it is made in Japan. It is easier to work on and maintain. When one compares and brings up Fiesta surprisingly no one is talking about the shittiest engines - ECOBOOST! Skyactive engines are naturally aspirated and that means reliability. I guess it is all down to personal preferences. Swift is a great car but feels cheap inside. I own previous gen Mazda 2 DE chasiss and this car reached top 2 in consumer satisfaction report for a reason. Gutless but dead reliable. Great video, thanks!

      I'm trying to go to Mazda 2 from a Toyota Yaris because I want a better looking car that's more engaging to drive. Is the 2 really that reliable on the long run like a Toyota. I heard the AC system and suspention are weak points for example.

      @@JustinElliot1990I have a 2018 and owned it for over four years. No issues at all.

      @LukaFontain ปีที่แล้ว +12

      No issues for me, but only 18k miles so far. All reviewers complain about the naturally aspirated engine, but it’s so good with the manual. You can drive it smoothly, with no jerky turbo. And it’s as fast/faster than little turbo cars. And I get 60mpg. Yes. Actually 60mpg.

    • @timkudryavtsev4133
      @timkudryavtsev4133 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@LukaFontain regular oil changes and maintanance and it would run for another 218k miles easily.

      Currently driving a 2009 Mazda 2 sport 1.5 103bhp model. It’s my first car. I love it super reliable, fun to drive and has shocked some people on the road for its brilliant handling and performance 😂. I know it’s not a race car at the end of the day but these things are like pocket rockets when you know how to drive one. 117k miles on the clock and still running perfectly!

    This is such a great little dependable car. I had the previous gen Mazda 2 for 5 years and it was fantastic. Dead reliable, fun to drive, well equipped and extremely cheap to run. I've since upgraded to an MX-5, but I've had the pleasure of having the newer Mazda 2 on loan, and i've honestly never driven a more easy car. The gear change in particular was a revelation, so light, yet to satisfying to use. I would never consider an auto in a car where the manual is this good. Overall great little car

  • @jdmguy44

    The best kept secret in the B segment. I've had my 2018 for over 4 years and I'm still not bored of it. It does a lot of different things very well. It has a character that is lacking in its rivals like the Polo or Corsa for example which feel more remote to drive in comparison.

    I have a 2015 Mazda 2 auto 1.5L, 90 hk (DJ) with 92.000 km on it, that I bought in 2021.
    As a maximum, I get 21 km/l (50 mpg) in summer time on non-traffic highways at 110 km/h.
    And as a minimum, I get 16 km/l (38 mpg) in winter time with start-stop-traffic on city roads at 50 km/h.
    I have had no problems and I can service it myself.
    It is great....... No, It is amazing!

    I drove our 2020 Mazda2 from the bottom of NZ's North Island all the way to the top, approx 1000kms, never felt uncomfortable ( I'm 6'1") and averaged 5l/100km and this journey involves a lot of hilly country. I chose it mainly because its not turbocharged and has an auto gearbox, not a rubbish CVT.
    These are a great little car.

    MISLEADING video: It comes standard with a 6-SPEED transmission and revs VERY LOW at highway speeds, LOWER REVS than competitors at highway speeds, everyone can watch other videos showing it as proof
    Competitors base engines are NOT turbocharged either, turbo engines are OPTIONAL and MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE
    Base engines of competitors have 50% LESS torque: Mazda ~150 Nm, competitors ~ 100 Nm

  • @pb5x5

    I bought one of these in 2018, it did great mpg at around 56mpg but the dials aren't shielded enough so the sun reflected off them in your eyes if the sun was over your shoulder, the spare wheel well wasn't round so the spare had to sit in the boot and couldn't be tied down as no tie downs. 90bhp was ok really (so fast enough in general use) but the steering would add extra assistance if you moved it quickly even above 40 mph, which felt like hitting a patch of ice (but on dry road in summer so wasn't icey). I sold it in the end as the locking relay was packing up just weeks out of warranty and Mazda didn't careless. Shame as could be a very good car if attention to detail was better.

      I have a 2013 Mazda 2 and it's been an absolute nightmare. Head gasket went after 5 years, with very low mileage. £1300. Starter motor went a few weeks earlier, taking out a major fuse with it. Driver door hinge assembly fell apart, engine management computer had dirt on a connection which caused it to randomly cut the engine, windscreen developed cracks out of the blue and had to be replaced, both rear suspension springs snapped, passenger airbag had to be replaced on a recall, steering creaks at parking speeds. Awful pile of rubbish, would never have another. Nice gear change, good handling and a good driving position, but that's it, otherwise awful.

    I would really appreciate it if you could create a video specifically about the 360-degree camera. On TH-cam, we always see only brief displays, but never an actual parking situation. It would be really interesting to see how much benefit such a camera actually provides, compared to traditional parking sensors, and whether the additional cost is justified.

    had the mazda 2 as a first car for the last year perfect first car quick through the corners but not enough power to get you in trouble makes it incredibly confidence inspiring aswell as teaching you to stay in the power band to go anywhere which makes rev matching a essential skill. though I wish I had the 115ps model as the 90 feels slow on motorways

Yes its not a great change from the previous one but it is still a great car. You get in a small car and moan it's small. I just don't get it. This isn't journalism.

    Shame there is no diesel for the UK. They do in Thailand and its brilliant. I average 64 mpg with the missus doing all the town driving and I do the long stuff. 70 mpg regularly achieved on motorway driving at 75 mph. The 6 Spd auto is really nice and so much better than the CVTs that I am surrounded by (Honda, Toyota and Nissan).

    How dare you compare the mazda2 against the dacia sandero and a skoda fabia. I'm triggered. I think you can tell I'm a mazda2 owner, I have a red 2009, and I drive it daily. In 2014 I bought a mazda3 sedan (sold in 2019), in 2018 a mazda6 (sold in 2022), and in 2023 bought a cx-5. I absolutely love the mazda2 and not planning to sale any time soon despite 250k km on the odo.

      That's what Mazda do. They do what's called 'right sizing' they give the car purposely bigger engines than usual with the reason behind it being that because when you drive normally the engine is not constantly stressing like a smaller turbocharged engine would be and it gives you better economy.

    • @jdmguy44
      @jdmguy44 ปีที่แล้ว +16
